Getting a Lower Back Tattoo?

1. i am a tattoo artist, and the most important thing i can say is PLEASE DON'T DRINK before you get it done. yeah it might make it hurt less, but you should realize it will make you bleed more due to thining out your blood and too much blood rejects ink and it will frustrate your artist, trust me.

tylenol is safe to take, but no aspirin or ibuprofin, they also thin blood. lidocain is sometimes made available, it is a topical anaesthetic but is expensive and the bottom line is, a lot of people believe you should earn your tattoo. and the pain is really not all that bad. just breathe and relax.

2. i have care instructions on my website, but your artist should give you pointers as well, every artist has different ways they believe their tattoos will heal well.

REFUGEINK.COM

enter the site and on the main page there is care instructions if you scroll down in the little window in the middle of the page.

3. every artist is different, but most will have you straddle a chair and bend over. the reason for this is the lower back is hard to stretch and if you lay down it caused more work for the artist because they will have to hand stretch the skin as they tattoo. if you bend over you're doing half the work by stretching your own skin so that helps a lot.

also, do this because you want to do it. if people think it's played out, that's really none of their concern. it's your body and you know what's best for it. good luck.
