The neverending story?

what name does the boy give the princess in the end to save fantasia?, someone said it was (moonchild) but it cant be because he gave her he's dead mother's name? and unless your from another world your name is unlikley to be moonchild!

What do you think of The Neverending Story?

I read Die unendliche Geschichte (The Never-Ending Story) as a child when it came out in the late 70s and found it amazing. The two-colored printing! The Alphabet chapters! The amazing creatures! The incredible fantasy!image taken from Serafina. blogLater on, as a young adult, I reread the book and found it ... not that well written, actually. All of the above about printing, creatures etc. still holds, but the story is rather camp. So, if you want to read Michael Ende as an adult, rather try his previous book, Momo. The story about the Grey Men literally stealing your time is chilling and, well, timeless. image taken from Jokers.de bookshopFor your children, I highly recommend his Jim Knopf und Lukas der Lokomotivführer (Jim Button and Luke the Engine Driver) or, even better, the gorgeous 1970s string-puppet series based on that book. How do you pronounce Falkor, the flying luck dragon from The Neverending Story?

How many NeverEnding Story movies have been made? Which is the best?

There are three movies, a TV series and a cartoon. I've seen three movies, and the first one is much, much better than the two sequels. The second one is allright, though it looks much cheaper, I think the story is actually closer to the one in book, not that it matters. But it's just less magical than the first one and the acting and overall quality is worse (but it's still enjoyable 6/10 for me). The third one is simply terrible, with cheap jokes, extremely irritating characters and most of the action taking place on Earth, preferably in home or shopping centre...

Which are the archetypes in The NeverEnding Story?

Atreyu's journey is built on the model of the Hero archetype. Falkor, a "luckdragon", following the Eastern mythology of dragons, is of the friend/companion archetype.Carl Conrad Coreander, the book store owner, has the seemingly grumpy old shopkeeper type.Bastian is a shy, mourning, bookish boy.Engywook and his wife Urgl are the married gnomes in the mountain, they follow the humorous, "long married", argumentative archetype.Gmork is one of the villains, being "a servant to the power behind the Nothing" makes him the "sidekick/demi-villain " archetype.Grograman, the Many Colored Death, is the guardian and lord over Goab, the Desert of Colors, which keeps the rapid growth of Perilin the Night Forest in check, follows the nobleman archetype.Morla the giant turtle that looked like a mountain, she is the old wise archetype. The Old Man of the Wandering Mountain or the "Chronicler" who has been around since Fantacia began, is of the trickster type.Rockbiter and the other messengers, Gluckuk, a tiny man riding a racing snail , Vooshvazool, a Nighthob who rides on a bat, Pyornkrachzark, and Blubb, a will-o'-the-wisp. All six are of the patriotic "save the land" archetypes. The Southern Oracle is of the mysterious an magical architype, the "knowing of" things and such.Xayide "#2" is an evil sorceress ,villain archetype. She appears later in the book after Bastian enters the world of Fantastica. Xayide lives in a castle shaped like a hand, called Horok, the Seeing Hand. Ygramul, the Many, is a monster that lives in the land of Dead Mountains. Ygramul is portrayed as a shapeshifter, who often takes form of a large spider and builds webs to catch its prey. The creature is actually comprised of many little insects who share a single hive mind, the a "foe" archetype.
Great Movie.

Are The Neverending Story 2 & 3 worth watching?

My niece watched the first movie today, and I watched it with her.

The 2nd and 3rd movie got much lower rating on IMDB (4.9 and 3.0, the 1st got 7.4)

So im wondering if the 2nd and 3rd are even worth watching? Are they sequels or is each movie a separate story?... and how come they got such low ratings?

What inspired the film The Neverending Story?

The book by Michael Ende. It is a beautiful, imaginative book for children that deals with many deep topics.Three movies have been made. The 1984 version and 2 sequels, each worse than the previous one. The 1984 movie is the least bad of the three, but considering the length and breadth of the book, it barely covers some of the topics. Though it is lengthy, it is very much worth reading and gifting to an imaginative child who likes to read. I would suggest around 10 years of age.

Is The Neverending Story 3 one of the worst films of all time?

No. NO.It is a wonderful fantasy that speaks to the kid in all of us. NES, like most classic “Fairy Tales” has it’s dark moments… in fact it’s about the end of everything, should the heroes fail to succeed.Need perspective? I give you, Disney’s “Sleeping Beauty”. Holy, Shit. The evil queen morphs into a huge Dragon in the bowels of a mushroom cloud? My family loved NES and it remains a reference point for its symbolism. No one wants to be trapped by the “Swamps of Sadness”? Who wouldn’t want a “Luck Dragon”?I’m wondering why this question exists. Within the realm of “All Movies”, NES may not be to your taste, but putting among the worst is unfathomable to me.
