Are The New Gen Consoles Any Better

Is old gen consoles like xbox 360 and Ps3 better than current generation consoles?

I'm hearing new gen gamers constantly bragging on YouTube comments about how new gens are better and that they carry good graphics. I was looking up on black ops 3 videos and new gen users were complaining about how old gen consoles are ruining everything. What is your opinion on this. I'm old gen gamer.

Why do next-gen consoles use AMD GPU's?

There is a lot to unpack here so I am going to try and break it down as best as I can.Nvidia’s performance advantage is relatively recentUntil the Maxwell or probably even Pascal, AMD and Nvidia were pretty much neck and neck with AMD having an advantage at the low to midrange cards and usually being the price to performance king. 4–5 years ago when they were planning their hardware architecture AMD were a very viable option2. AMD is the only company that produces CPUs and GPUsThis gives them an advantage since they can set up production lines for both of the most important parts of the consoles which saves money for AMD, the platform holders and the customers. It would be more difficult to do if they were sourcing the hardware from different and/or competing companies.3. AMD’s weaker market position probably helpedAMD has been losing ground to Intel and Nvidia for a while now. Sony and Microsoft probably leveraged this in negotiations to once again help save costs on the consoles since without the console production AMD would be struggling even more.As you can see it is very convenient for the platform holders to use all AMD systems and the costs they save let them make the consoles more accessible to most people

If a PC can be more powerful, why do games look better in consoles in terms of graphics and performance?

You’re not outright wrong, but not right either. While some games certainly do have issues, such as a bad port and so on, that’s not what always happens. Let’s talk about what usually happens, and what bad ports look like. What’s usually the case?Games typically have lower settings than what the PC port CAN do, as well as frame-rates (usually 30), but that doesn’t mean that all PCs are equally capable.Usually, the benefit the PC has, is a higher resolution, and framerate. There are some other differences such as: shadows, and (if The Witcher 3) hair.PCs have different capabilities according to price, a 300$ PC won’t be anywhere near as good as a 1500$ PC. Sometimes one 1500$ PC is less capable than another 1500$ PC due to different priorities, such as storage, cooling etc. There’s often a price-premium when it comes to size, and sound. But, sometimes, even with a monster PC, the console port is actually better. What’s going on there?Bad portsEvery now and then, a TERRIBLE port for the PC comes around, such as Batman Arkham knight, which actually had worse textures on the PC version than that of the console version (at launch). This was because WB decided to outsource the PC port to a small company, and… Surprise (?) it didn’t do well. There are less extreme examples, such as Mass Effect 1, Dark souls 1 and so on. These ports didn’t look better or worse than the console port, but did have times where they ran worse.ConclusionYou’re not exactly wrong. There are definitely times where the console gets a much better port. This, however, isn’t usually the case. Games typically favor the PC, with bonuses such as better shadows, frame-rates, and higher resolutions. Most bad ports look almost identical to the console counterpart.Another thing to keep in mind is the PC the games are being tested on. Low-end computers sometimes lack behind the consoles.I hope this was an entertaining answer!Feedback is always nice!

When are you buying a next gen console?

never.

you cant call a console next gen when its all most an exact copy of the last console the company made. what new features does the ps4 or xbox one have that make them so great that you must buy them, besides the new games that will inevitable only be able to be bought on those consoles.

the wiiU was more bloody next gen than the ps4 and xbox one, as it changed the console and bring new ideas to the plate, allowing you to use a handheld device to play with your friends on the tv, or even play a game used for the tv, on a hand held device. that's intuitive...

and for the first year or so, most of the new console games will also have console ports for the old console, while keeping some of the really good ones for the newest console. for example, dead rising 3? that will probably be a xbox one only, yet that huge robot fighter game you see constant adds on the 360 about will have a console port for the 360 too

When will the next gen of game consoles come out?

First off the above answer is complete bull-$hit, there has been no announcement so don't believe what he says.

Okay so the PS3 was built to have a 10 year life cycle, so I am thinking that the PS4 will comeout somewher in between 2015-2017. As for the XBox 720 (if it is called that), Microsoft has stated it to has a 10-year life cycle but I feel a new console coming out somewhere in between 2012-2014.

Now onto the Wii 2. I feel that Nintendo has the ability to keep dishing out new consoles almost every 3 years. So I am thinking that the Wii 2 will be out by 2009-2010.

What's the difference between new generation consoles and old generation consoles?

Hello i'm looking forward to buying a new console but i'm wondering why I should get the new generation consoles all the new consoles are having the same games as the old consoles I know theirs a few games that the old console has but does that really matter? Will the new consoles have a bunch of new games that the old consoles won't have?

YOUR Fallout 4 wishlist (next gen consoles)?

If I could have one wish for a video game it would be Fallout with the ability to build stuff like minecraft without sacrificing 3D graphics. That would be very difficult and more likely a Fallout 5 or 6 so I would just be extremely happy if they left the game mostly in tact with more customization options (more items of course) a smoother less buggy engine, an updating/changing world (like you said about adding quests, but DLC's will likely be how they do it still) and most of all a more challenging game. Mostly by adding more creatures/characters, smarter AI's and MORE OF THEM. an Updating world would be the best addition and maybe CO OP. For a more diverse map they could have the ability to travel to different maps.. Like revisit the Mojave or Capital Wasteland or Point Lookout (I really liked that place). There have been many speculation that Fallout 4 will take place around Boston as it is the home of the commonwealth where the androids and higher tech seem to come from. (Fallout 3: The replicated man)

You might be able to find a lot of what you want in mods, Bethesda games IMO are some of the best games for modding, they even design it to be that way and make a program to allow people to make their own. Its called the G.E.C.K. and there are many tutorials, you should check it out. It was enough for me to get a copy of the games for my PC.

What will the next generation of gaming consoles be like?

As per GDC 2019, we as developers know that big players like apple, google, microsoft, epic, ubisoft, are getting their feet into these exciting field with real products developed. This might be the indication of near to mid future generation.a. Subscription based Cloud Gaming (either File / Video Stream) With PeripheralsWe cannot avoid this, more are getting in and betting in this new business model. We will be able to play games out there like we watch netflix. The catch here is, market domination can only be done with peripherals or supporting consoles. This is why google aiming for dedicated stadia console to actually embed all sort of google ecosystem, data gathering algorithm inside their devices without asking for other brand/manufacturer to put in their stuffs..Nvidia GeForce Now is trying to dominate the android TV market with its dedicated controller in Nvidia Shield. They first exist to the market, but google is the one who will make it available to multi-device screens.B. Photorealistic Quality GraphicWe heard of this many times, yet we are all dismissed it because of technical impossibilities for gaming. Yet this year we have arrived at the moment where photorealistic quality graphic processed in real-time. Means we can actually play game in 60 FPS with reality like picture. Of course it’s not end yet. Epic and Quixel perform this feat with 2 Nvidia Quadro GTX. No brainer for family gaming right? Still we can wait, for processing power became cheaper and embedded inside family grade consoles. PS5 bringing enormous updates, but its the present. The future is Photorealistic guys..C. VR & XR(mixed reality)I wont say much about AR,.. but VR is getting commoditized and accessible to all. most industry players are quite patient with the time the transitions will take as AAA are gradually fill-up the space. XR will dominate the next-gen esports, the one that our little brothers will do.D. Mobile and Console Gaming ConvergenceWith stadia/arcade, there is a possibility in the future where games from different directions come together (mobile, console, pc, switch, vr, xr) into one platform, distributed to all screen sizes. Makes the industry less categorized and more fused.
