Are Their Any Other Words Like These

What do you call words like "the" and "to"?

The type of words you describe take up about a tenth of a percent of your vocabulary but manage to make up almost sixty percent of your sentences every day!Function words are things like:Auxiliary verbs (do, has, will)Prepositions (to, at, of, between)Articles (the, a, an)Conjunctions (and, but, so)Content words are things like:Nouns (dog, cat, road, pizza)Verbs (go, eat, find, drive)Adjectives (calm, fine, hot, best)Adverbs (calmly, fast, slowly, quickly)Function words on their own don’t really make too much sense. A good way to distinguish function words from content words is that you can describe what a content word is while you can describe what a function word does or how it behaves.Let’s use a word as an example. And is a conjunction. And is used to connect words of the same part of speech. So far, that sounds very functional. Can you describe what and is besides saying how it functions in a sentence? If you can’t, then you have a function word.We can do it the other way too. Let’s take the word travel for instance. To travel is to make a journey. Alright, now let’s put it in a sentence. I like to travel. In that sentence, can you tell me what travelling is? Does the word travel have meaning to you on its own? We can safely say that travel is a content word.Anywho, the answer to your question is words like the and to are called function words.

What other words are there like MILF and BAMF?

SNAFU, FUBAR

Are there other words like gray/grey?

two common groups of words are these:

favour and favor
neighbour and neighbor
colour and color

centre and center
liter and litre
meter and metre

other ones include

Aluminium and Aluminum

[America and England, two countries divided by a common language.]

Odd thing about gray is that the US buses are greyhounds, not grayhounds. All comes about because the time that the language was exported to The New World certain conventions had not been fixed. As a reulst as the language became more standardised it diverged - and is surprisingly more alike than it it is different.

Are there any other words like "jaan" or "sanam"?

what do you mean "like" those names?? as in beginning with the same letter? names with two a's in them?

Are there any words similar to "ghoti"?

I saw this question already, but the answer wasn't helpful. Basically "ghoti" is a fake word mocking the English language and its weird spelling. It is supposed to be pronounced "fish." The "gh" makes a "f" sound in words like "laugh," the "o" makes an "i" sound like in "women," and the "ti" makes a "sh" sound in "translation."
I'm making electronic music and I want an artist name that can be pronounced multiple ways. I thought of Ghoti, but there's a 90's Christian band called Ghoti Hook so I feel like that name's sort of taken already. So I'm looking for other words that have a similar concept. I know about the absurdly long word pronounced "potato," but I don't think I'd like to be called Potato :P Ghoti and Potato were the only two I could find.
Feel free to make one up on the spot too :p
