How many Gb's will 400 songs use up on an 8 gb iPod Touch?

No, 8GB is used FAST. That and also, since 2GB is used by the operating system, it's acctually only 6GB. 32GB only costs $100 more, and you get a whole extra 24GB, so go for it. Just google it, and you will see instantly everyone who bought an 8GB iPod Touch regrets it.

EDIT: Well, yes, for the time being it will be enough, but over time you're going to gradually want to get more. So again, get the extra space, it doesn't cost much more, and you get so much more space.

How many songs can I fit on an 8 gb iPod touch?

If you are having problem with your iPod touch or iPhone iPad after iOS 10 update, here is a list about the common iOS 10 problems and solutions.2.Have iTunes installed on your computer. Tip: If you were Windows Media Player user, you need to transfer songs from Windows Media Player onto iTunes library firstly.Open iTunes, click File > Add File to Library to import your music (Ctrl+O). And then you can copy and paste the songs from the iTunes library over to the iPod device, which is supposed to show on the left side of iTunes. If nothing is happening when you drag songs, you may have to go to Summary and check the Manually manage music and videos box. How to Transfer Music from Computer to iPod (touch) without iTunes – Step 3At last, you will find the music you selected has transferred onto iPod devices. This approach would be very annoying if your music files did not put together, because you need to find them one-by-one and import them into iTunes library before transferring to iPod.You should keep it in mind that any attempts to sync your iPod with a different computer will result in an iPod with all your music deleted.

My Ipod Touch won't hold 1,700 songs as it claims to?

The estimated number of songs is based on a bit-rate of (I believe) 128 kilobytes per second, when songs that you download from iTunes and Amazon are 256 or 320 kbps. The higher the bit-rate, the better the sound quality ... but it also takes up more memory. For example, a song at 256 kbps will take up twice the space of a song at 128 kbps.

To find out what the bit-rate of your songs are, go to iTunes and open any album or playlist. Go to the top of any column (where it says Name, Artist, etc.) and right click. Check the box next to bit-rate. Are many/most of your songs higher than 128 kbps?

If so, you can fit about 1600 songs on an 8 gb iPob by converting everything to 128 kbps. (I have 1586 tracks that use 6.8 gb. One gb is used by your iPod for software.) Just google "bit rate converter" and look for a program that can convert batches of songs and save the converted songs in a different folder. It's a complete hassle to convert an entire library and reload it to iTunes, but doing so will let you put a lot more songs on your iPod.

Most conversion programs will convert to a size as small as 60 kbps. Uh, not recommended to go that low because the quality is terrible. 128 is probably as low as you want to go.

Hope this works for you. :)

How many songs can a 8GB and a 16GB iPhone hold?

With pictures and video? Almost never enough. After a year, pictures and video will likely have taken up most of the space. I don't take that many pictures but after about 6 months, I've apparently accumulated about 4 gigs worth of photos/videos.My music library is currently floating around 8 gigs with over 2000 songs. If make it a habit of backing up your pics/vids on your PC (or Mac) and you treat your music library more like a very large playlist that needs occasional updating and you don't download tons of apps, you should be fine with a 16gb.Apple thankfully has stopped producing iPhones with 8gb memory but I would say they really need to stop making those with 16gb as well.
