What are some good books that talk in great detail about the hardships and realities of combat in war?
The Fighters“A classic of war reporting...The author’s stories give heart-rending meaning to the lives and deaths of these men and women, even if policymakers generally have not.” —The New York TimesPulitzer Prize winner C.J. Chivers’s unvarnished account of modern combat, told through the eyes of the fighters who have waged America’s longest wars.More than 2.7 million Americans have served in Afghanistan or Iraq since September 11, 2001. C.J. Chivers reported from both wars from their beginnings. The Fighters vividly conveys the physical and emotional experience of war as lived by six combatants: a fighter pilot, a corpsman, a scout helicopter pilot, a grunt, an infantry officer, and a Special Forces sergeant.Chivers captures their courage, commitment, sense of purpose, and ultimately their suffering, frustration, and moral confusion as new enemies arise and invasions give way to counterinsurgency duties for which American forces were often not prepared. The Fighters is a tour de force, a portrait of modern warfare that parts from slogans to do for American troops what Stephen Ambrose did for the G.I.s of World War II and Michael Herr for the grunts in Vietnam. Told with the empathy and understanding of an author who is himself an infantry veteran, The Fighters presents the long arc of two wars.
Are there any good books which give a detailed history of the decline and fall of the British Empire?
I would seriously nominate Corelli Barnett's "The Collapse of British Power".I don't agree with all of his reasoning, but as a well researched investigation as to what actually happened, as opposed to the lies that made people feel better, it's without equal. The Collapse of British Power
Are there any books about detailed stories of Karan from Mahabharata?
Every time that I succeeded & every time that I failed, there was one thing in common “Rashmirathi”. My father loved the book and would recite to me, verses from it apt for the situation. The book is written by Ramdhari Singh Dinkar who has been hailed as the Rashtra Kavi (National Poet). The book is based on story of Karan and is in form of poems. These poems are based on “Veer Ras” and instill strength & bravery. There are a few lines from the book that act as the guiding principle in my life and would like to mention them.“ सच है, विपत्ति जब आती है,कायर को ही दहलाती है,शूरमा नहीं विचलित होते,क्षण एक नहीं धीरज खोते,विघ्नों को गले लगाते हैं,काँटों में राह बनाते हैं। Try reading the book.. I hope you will love it.

Is there any detailed study (or book) about Brodmann area?
⇰ File format: ePub, PDF, Kindle, audiolibro, mobi, ZIP.Brodmann's: Localisation in the Cerebral Cortex 2006th EditionThis is the third edition of the translation, by Laurence Garey, of "Vergleichende Lokalisationslehre der Grosshirnrinde" by Korbinian Brodmann, originally published by Barth-Verlag in Leipzig in 1909. It is one of the major "classics" of the neurological world. Even today it forms the basis for so-called "localisation" of function in the cerebral cortex. Brodmann's "areas" are still used to designate functional regions in the cortex, the part of the brain that brings the world that surrounds us into consciousness, and which governs our responses to the world. For example, we use "area 4" for the "motor" cortex, with which we control our muscles, "area 17" for "visual" cortex, with which we see, and so on. This nomenclature is used by neurologists and neurosurgeons in the human context, as well as by experimentalists in various animals. Indeed, Brodmann's famous "maps" of the cerebral cortex of humans, monkeys and other mammals must be among the most commonly reproduced figures in neurobiological publishing. The most famous of all is that of the human brain. There can be few textbooks of neurology, neurophysiology or neuroanatomy in which Brodmann is not cited, and his concepts pervade most research publications on systematic neurobiology.
Are there any good books or other sources that detail the history of the world's commercial nuclear programs?
One of the best books to summarize the history, life cycle, economics, and safety of the commercial nuclear industry is titled, "Power to Save the World" by Gwyneth Cravens. Her mission as an author was to find proof of the dangers of nuclear power but in her research and interviews determined not only was it safe, it was crucial to society. It is a well researched book and attacks many of the untruths propagated regarding the nuclear industry.
Are there any books, scientific papers, or detailed tutorials on how to implement a multivariate testing analysis?
Hi Alexandre,If you mean testing more than one variant versus a control, then what you need to take into account when designing and evaluation of an MVT A/B test is:Sample size should be adjusted during the test design phase. The resulting statistics (p-values) need to be adjusted so they reflect the MVT designOther than that, the test delivery is exactly the same, but instead of splitting the traffic between one control and one variant, you randomize equally between one control and multiple variants.I’d suggest this paper: “Dunnett, C.W, Tamhane, A.C. (1991) “Step-Down Multiple Tests for Comparing Treatments with a Control in Unbalanced One-Way Layouts”, Statistics in Medicine, 10:939-947″ as a good read as far as the mathematical foundation goes.It is also the approach I use in my paper: Efficient A/B Testing in Conversion Rate Optimization: The AGILE Statistical Method (#4.5 touches on multivariate testing). If you want to see it in action, you can sign up for a free trial for AGILE A/B Testing Calculator - Advanced A/B & MVT Sequential Testing CalculatorIn general papers and books on medical trial design should be a good place to start, but they can be though to understand if you don’t have any statistical background.
