List of historical celtic tv shows or movies?

To start with, anything about King Arthur or Merlin is Celtic. Arthur was a Briton. His people became the Welsh and the Bretons, There are too many arthurian movies to list. This one is often forgotten but it is a classic:

The Highlander films of course.

Disney didn't just do the Sword And the Stone about Arthur, they adapted Lloyd Alexander's Chronicles of Prydein into the Black Cauldron -- a movie which stinks. I don't recommend it.

Roar starring the late Heath Ledger was a decent TV series:

What are some good movies or documentaries about the history of Ireland (1800-present)?

There are actually a number of good RTE and TG4 documentaries which exist, but they tend to be quite specific. So I'll just give the link for them. Daily stories from television and radio records of Irish life TG4 documentaries will be in Irish with English subtitles, but they are usually excellent quality. Documentaries | TG4 Strumpet City is a historical drama mini-series set in Dublin around the time of 1912 lockout. It gives a good insight into what was then one of the poorest cities in Europe. Jimmy's Hall, is a historical film drama, which I feel gives a good sense of the social suffocation by church and state which stagnated post-independence Ireland until the sixties. The Treaty - Mini-Series Staring the wonderful Brendan Gleeson as Michael Collins. This is a much more in depth look at the politics of the War of Independence and Civil war than the Movie Michael Collins. Who do you think you are? While this is a genealogical show, I think it is also a wonderful way to examine the people's history. I have certainly learned things about Irish history I didn't know. I have listed a few interesting episodes from an Irish point of view. Chris Moyles - UK series 6 - Explores the extreme poverty of Ireland in the late 19th century. Mark Gatiss - UK series 12 - Examines the history of the O'Kanes and the O'Mullens.  Nick Hewer - UK series 10 - Examines the situation in Northern Ireland at the time of Partition. Julie Waters - UK series 11 - Examines the history of the Land movements in the late 19th Century. Rosie O'Donnell - USA season 2 - Examines the work houses in famine era Ireland. Martin Sheen - USA season 3 - Examines the War of Independence and civil war era in Ireland.

What movies could I watch to review AP US history topics?

1776 is a great musical about the Declaration of Independence. But it also has much of the actual debate that took place during the Continental Congress. William Daniels plays Adams, Ken Howard is Jefferson.

John Adams, starring Paul Giamatti, which was on HBO last year, is a very good review of early US history

There are many films about the Civil War.
Glory, about the Massachusetts 54th, is very specific, but excellent. Great performances by Denzel Washington and Morgan Freeman.

Roots is one of the best mini-series ever done. Brilliant work all around by the cast, reviews slavery 1750 to 1865.

To cover US history 1950 to 1980, Forrest Gump is actually lots of fun. Tom Hanks is great, and the soundtrack rocks.
