Are There Any Other Countries Which Offer 1 Year M.sc Programs Other Than U.k

Are there any other countries that offer a master's in engineering in 1 year, besides the UK?

I second the answer from Brad Bass. Besides Canadian Universities, US universities and many Universities located in British former colonies offer one-year Masters (e.g. Singapore and Hong Kong). Please do keep in mind that usually these Masters are professional program and terminal Masters degree. Sometimes there is no thesis requirement. Therefore, you only need to attend the lectures and do well in the exam.

Is a 1 year MSC program in Ireland considered a diploma in other countries?

No. There’s a good reason for this:Ta-dah! Qualifications have been standardised throughout Europe! So if you’re looking at an M.Sc. programme, all you really want to know is what level it’s accredited at. Is it Level 9? That’s fine.

Why MS in UK is only of 1 year while in most other countries (including USA) 2 years seem to be the norm?

In the US Masters programs (MBA and PhD programs) are based around a placement or internship in the middle. The summer is spent working for a company, or being placed in a lab etc. This is quite an important aspect of some programs, for example at Harvard Business School, the internship over the summer generally leads to employment following graduation and leaves time for visa logistics which would otherwise make it impossible to take on foreign employees. Also US programs offer a lot of flexibility to take outside options. A lot of students make use of this to pick up extra skills. So I imagine extra time is needed to have a timetable that accommodates everyone.Whereas, in the UK there is less flexibility and students work non-stop for a full 12 months (compared to about 15-18 months in the States).

Are the MSc degrees from the UK, valid and recognized in India and the US?

Well, the answer by Chhanda is accurate, 1 year’s masters from UK is not recognised in India, which I think is completely stupid. If you pursue Masters in India, the first year is mainly waste(in most cases). If you have done a bachelors in mechanical engineering and you decide to do a masters in India(M.Tech). The first year will cover some of the subjects that have already studied in your bachelors. In UK, they understand the masters is to get specialised knowledge, so you can pursue masters in a specialised area of mechanical engineering like automotive, robotics, manufacturing, industrial, and more. Not only you save valuable time, but you don’t have to pay one-year’s extra fee.Anyways, recognition makes less sense anyways, because someone who’s going to study in a country like UK and spend that amount of money would not want to work on a government salary. The private sector is the best friend for someone educated from a foreign country.Currently, when you apply for a 1 year’s masters in the UK, you get 16 months of student visa. Your masters will be finished in 9–10 months(mostly). If your classes commence in September 2016, by June 2017, you will complete your studies. The rest of the time is to look for full time work, meanwhile you can work 40 hours to support yourself. So, in 6 months students recover most of their studies cost, even if they can’t find a full-time job. Students from Top tier institute like Cambridge University, Oxford University, Imperial College and University of Bath gets additional 6 months instead of 4 months for other students. So, the students visa for these students lasts for 18 months.Same regulations apply for US, or any other country as well. If the duration of the masters is less than 2 academic years, it is not recognised. But the thing is you don’t go to study abroad to get recognition but to gain skills and knowledge that are not available locally.

ERASMUS program?

ERASMUS is an exchange program to allow students in one European country to study at another for part of their degree. I don't think you can use it to go to a European university from outside Europe.

Classes, examinations etc. - you do the exact same as the students at the university you are visiting do, in their language. Similarly with the accommodation - just standard student halls. I suspect you can't find lots of info about it because it isn't a course itself, it just gives you access to the courses in another university.

Which is the best country to study biotechnology?

First complete your bachelor's in India and try to do some internship in India or abroad from 2nd year. In India, biotechnology is a mixture of engineering and core biotechnology subjects. Make sure to give more focus on one or two subjects read as much as possible in specific areas are microbiology, cell biology, cancer biology, or biochemistry, bioinformatics to gain a mastery in the specific subject. Go for Master's or PhD in Germany, USA, Canada or any other European Union country. If you failed to get a PhD and can't afford the expenses then try to complete the Master's in India and go for PhD later on. Some pros and cons of different countries are as follows:Germany: No tuition fee but you need to have more than 8000 euros in the German bank account to show that you can afford your living in Germany. Highly competitive education system and job market. Singapore: You will directly get a PhD in Singapore but you need above 90 percentile score in GATE or GRE 310 or 320+ 4.0 and recommendations from the host professors in Singapore. All expenses covered, great research labs, monthly stipend, and great research projects. Very good job opportunities considering large number of pharma and biotech research companies in Singapore. USA and Canada: You can get a PhD directly if you have high CGPA (>9.0) and strong application. Otherwise, you will be end up spending 30-40 lacs for two years master's program. There are scholarships available but it is not going to cover all your expenses if you failed to get a PhD position. However, it depends from one university to another. The job opportunities totally depend on your project work. The United Kingdom (or Britain): Avoid UK due to highly restricted visa. All the universities in the UK only care about tuition fee paid by you. Less number of scholarships and job opportunities for foreigners in the UK.  You will end up spending money with no proper job. France: Again, a highly competitive job market but education and housing are subsidized. Lots of scholarship available for Indian students through campus France. What is the main difference between an MEng and MSc? Which has more promising career prospects?

This is a very good question. Care has to be taken when choosing post graduate programs depending on the country of choice; especially when one has to do these overseas. I would love to touch the facts using Canada, the UK and the US as sources of post graduate degrees. The MEng degree by definition and objective produces profesional graduate for work in the industry through course work, which could be organised as specialist modules, Academic Projects without a graduate thesis. As such, it is not considered a good preparation for a phD program. Besides, it’s considered a terminal masters. This is the case for the canadian MEng degree. The MEng degree is good for you if you aren’t thinking of proceding to a phD although it may be useful for a DEng in the UK.On the contrary, the Msc program in Canada is not a terminal masters. It really doesn’t prepare you for the job market, it’s a pre-phD program with little course work, more research oriented and graduate thesis. If you had to compete with an MEng graduate for job you may be beaten easily. In canada the msc program could be funded, whereas all MEng causes are paid for. In the Uk most Msc programs are highly specialized terminal masters organised in modules with incoporated thesis requirements. The thesis alone weighs 60 ECT. while the course work weighs 60 ECT making a total of 120. It prepares you for the industry and research, making it a good preparation for a phD program. Besides, it is really apaling to US employers. They love it compared to theirs. Although the program is best for intelligent and hard working 2:1 and first. At the end of the day it will depende on what you are looking for and where. In the US the Msc program is not very popular. Most schools offer this degree when your academic performance is below average and it isn’t a terminal masters. Hence they love the UK’s more than theirs. Some schools are beginning to establish this kind of masters and they are classified as professional masters.Good luck.Oki MD.FMCS.

My parents won't let me study abroad for University?

I really want to go to UBC (University of British Colombia), or a university in somewhere other than the UK,but my parents wont let me study anywhere else other than the UK. I want freedom, since I'm doing the IB diploma program (as I'm a British student in China) and I really want to study somewhere where the English isn't SO hard, since my English is no where near the levels of UK students. They told me that they can afford to send me there barely, but cant pay for anything else. They told me I cant get a student loan in another country etc. I told them ''WHY THE HELL AM I BLOODY DOING IB THEN?!'' and then they told me they could send me to some Chinese crappy wannabe British A-level school. I don't want to leave, I love the IB program, and I have a lot of friends. ALL OF THEM ARE GOING OVERSEAS, AND NOT TO THEIR OWN COUNTRIES. Don't you know how humiliating it is to go to an IB school, yet go to your OWN bloody f****** country? They told me I can only freaking go if I get a scholarship. I told them that its so hard but they just shrugged. UK UNIVERSITIES ARE CRAP NO THANKS. THEY ARE INCREDIBLY HARD TO GET IN TO AND THE BLOODY PROFESSORS ARE SO BLOODY SNOBBISH AND STUCK UP. I want freedom, I feel like I'm trapped. They also said I can study in one of China's run-down universities. Also, they want me to study there because my Mum's friends daughter wants to go there and she agreed she'd send me there with her. I DONT WANT TO ******* GO TO THE UK. HELP ME! ANY TIPS?
