Are There Any Songs That You Like Off An Album That You Don

Can DJs play any song off an album or do they have to play the singles?

The music or program director (usually not the jock) can play any song that's been released (and some that haven't). Though the labels work hard to try to get them to concentrate on one single to establish the entire CD. This in hopes that you will buy the entire CD based on the single.

There have been a few heated arguments on this issue between labels and stations. Especially when the station decides to play an entire new album without interruption. Obviously so you can record it.

The station insists that's not the reason, it's for the entertainment value.

Because of not following the label's wishes, stations have lost relationships with some labels and been forced to purchase the songs they want to play (no big deal) - and more importantly, give up any promotional plans the label may have planned for the station in return for their co-operation (CDs, T-shirts and concert tickets to give away; backstage visits with the artists, etc.).

Radio and records are not getting along right now. All of a sudden, the labels want the stations to pay the artists for airplay. Stations counter that without radio, there'd be no hits. This is usually cyclical.

BTW stations do pay fees to ASCAP, BMI or SESAC. These organizations collect royalties for the writers and publishers - not the artists. Artists get paid by sales and concerts (unless they are also the writer).

What one song would you delete off of an album to make it perfect?

Oh this is an easy one.Maxwell’s Silver Hammer from Abbey Road.Maxwell's Silver Hammer (Remastered 2009)Oh dear, where do I start.I hate this song. It’s one of the worst Beatles songs out there. It has these dark, tongue-in-cheek lyrics (that aren’t particularly interesting to the average listener beyond a medical student who is homicidal for some reason) over this annoying tune that sounds like it was made for preschoolers to sing. Paul McCartney wrote it with some deeper meaning but in the end, it was a terrible song and hardly anyone cared enough to dissect the lyrics. In fact, all of the other Beatles hated the song as well!Ringo Starr said this about it in 2008:“The worst session ever was 'Maxwell's Silver Hammer.' It was the worst track we ever had to record. It went on for f****** weeks. I thought it was mad.”George Harrison said this in 1977:“Sometimes Paul would make us do these really fruity songs. I mean, my god, 'Maxwell's Silver Hammer' was so fruity. After a while we did a good job on it, but when Paul got an idea or an arrangement in his head... But Paul's really writing for a 14-year-old audience now anyhow.“John Lennon was lucky enough to be in a car accident so he didn’t have to finish the production. He said this about it shortly before he died:“I hate it, 'cos all I remember is the track ... [Paul] did everything to make it into a single, and it never was and it never could have been.”The thing is, I usually don’t mind these goofy, tongue-in-cheek songs. I love You Know My Name (Look Up The Number) and Hey Bulldog. They’re goofy but still good songs and don’t take up any album space. In the song Maxwell and his silver hammer were instruments of destruction! The same goes for their effect on the album. I love the album, I’ve mentioned in several other answers that it’s one of my favorite albums, that one song didn’t ruin the album at all. But Abbey Road would be better off without Maxwell and his silver hammer. Bad silver hammer.Just look at this.Well now doesn’t that look better! I think so! A-whole-nother track just for another Something guitar solo! Now that sounds like a good idea!By the way, this is no knock on Paul McCartney at all. I really love his music in and out of the Beatles. He was definitely the most active Beatle, creatively, in their whole run, even more so than John Lennon. I just don’t like this particular song. Thanks for reading.

What album is the song "Falling Even More in Love with You" by Lifehouse from?

arisel31- that made me laugh, "what the banana said" haha, priceless.

Now, does anyone know the name of the album that "Meant to Live" by Switchfoot is from?

Do you listen to whole music albums of one artist or just songs from different artists?

Whole albums.I like to discover music myself and have no interest in Spotify’s logarithms deciding what I should listen to. I do have a favourite radio station (BBC Radio 6) which I listen to when I'm home which has opened my ears to lots of new music. If I like a song I hear on the radio I’ll listen to the album it comes from.I enjoy listening to albums because a single is like an advert for the album. The catchy single makes you wonder what else the artist has to offer and very often my favourite songs on an album are not the hits or the singles. It's also usually the case that an album is the complete work and should be listened to in this way instead of just picking a song or two and ignoring the rest.I probably think like this as I grew up buying LPs and then CDs. Someone growing up now would probably think differently as they can simply download individual songs. I think this is a shame as it means that the rest of the album is ignored and know from experience that songs can grow on a person and become favourites.I do, however, have lots of compilation albums which I like but these only make me want to hear the albums from which my favourite songs on the compilation come from.
