Are There Any Stage 2 Car Seats Over 20 Lbs With A Carrying Handle

Z shaped handle on infant car seats?

We're looking at buying an infant car seat, but I'm not really sure what to look for. What are your opinions on the Z shaped handles on infant car seats? Is it worth it? I personally don't notice a difference in comfort when carrying that or the old style, but I've only picked them up in the stores and I'm pretty short so no matter which one I carry, I bang them against my legs... My baby's father really wants to get the Z shaped handle because he has heard that it's so much better.

The only reason I question it is because I am having a hard time finding car seats with this handle. I looked on babiesrus.com and they have the largest selection of all the other things I've looked into buying, however they only have one of the Z shaped handled car seats. Makes me wonder if they're actually all that great.....

Best car seat for 1 year old?

My baby boy turns 1 year old on April 20th. We need a new car seat for him. He weighs around 23-24 pounds. We have been using a Safety First car seat, but it's getting too small for him and we're looking for a new one. What would be the best fit? We need it to have good safety ratings, be comfortable, easy to carry, and for it to fit his weight and age. We prefer it to be up to $250. Please help me find one. Thanks!

How long did you carry your baby in car seat?

My son is 4 1/2 months and 16lbs. I have an infant carseat....and with him in it, its so heavy! I take it with me everywhere....the dr's, the grocery, shopping,to appointments, etc. because he cant sit up on his own yet. I would put him in his stroller, but then I cant push around a shopping cart, and in some places theres not enough room for a stroller. How long did you do this? Or what did you do? Any suggestions, options appreciated! Although I dont mind my new biceps from carrying this :)
Also - any information on convertible carseats would be great! These are new to me, I have no idea how they work or when I'll need to get one. What kind do you have, do you like it, how much.....

Why would I want a carseat adapter for my stroller?

Some people buy those baby car seats, and think this is a safe way to travel with baby. Thousands of babies are injured every year while carried around in those car seats plus you CANNOT put them on top of a shopping cart (like you see done all the time). Add to the fact, the car seat + newborn baby = 20 pounds of weight to begin with! and more as the baby grows! Skip that infant seat and leave the car seat in the car. We never used the infant seat. We only had a reclining stroller and a convertible car seat (Evenflo Triumph 65 from day one home from the hospital).
and it is FAR BETTER to move baby in and out of the car even sleeping, they get used to this and soon this is part of their 'routine'. We carried our baby in a ring sling, and we now have an Ergo carrier. The lil ones always snuggled back to sleep when we took them out of a car and into their sling.

Whats the next step after the appraiser comes to see your car?

The appraiser will inspect the car and write an estimate.

He will then give the estimate to the adjuster handling your claim.

If the adjuster has completed the liability investigation and determined their guy is at fault - the adjuster will issue a check and put it in the mail to you with a copy of the estimate.

You then take the estimate and your car to the shop of your choice to be fixed. If the shop has any questions about the estimate, they will contact the appraiser.

If your car is safely drivable, it's a good idea to put your car in the shop on a Mon or Tues. Shops usually don't work weekends. So, if you put the car in on Mon/Tues, there is a chance the repairs to the car will be done before the weekend.

Baby Trend or Graco; which is better brand for carseat and other baby gear?

My Baby Trend gear has outlasted every Graco thing we've bought, except the Graco 35. However, the Baby Trend infant seat (as highly tested as it is) has a really annoying buckle system, or used to, so I don't like that. But everything else, I'd go with Baby Trend first.

I'm not brand loyal though. Do research. If you see that there's a Graco thing that is getting high scores from folks and is doing very well according to actual usage, go with that. Or with Baby Bundle from Blah brand. Don't limit yourself. Don't get travel systems, they are often very limiting. But it's like if your dream stroller is by Chicco, and your car seat is by Evenflo, and your bassinet is by something else... well shoot. That's fine. There's no reason to limit to a brand. I do recommend though if you get a playpen, look at the washable ones and make sure they conform to the higher level safety requirements put out this year.

Is it better to take a baby out of her carseat in the car when home? Or is it better to just bring in the whole carseat?

My son is 2 months old, sometimes I carry him in his car seat and sometimes I take him out.I take him out and leave the car seat in the car when:He was old enough to hold his head up. I didn’t want to have a little limp baby to carry around with no extra support, they’re super fragile at that stage. It’s warm enough that I don’t need a jacket, I take him out while he has long sleeves on.I’m by myself. I have a hard time carrying his car seat because I’m pretty short, so I have to really hike the car seat up so it doesn’t drag on or hit the ground. If I’m somewhere without much space and I don’t want to get his stroller from out of the trunk, I’ll just unbuckle him and carry him.If I’ll need to feed him. I’ve gone to the store so a friend could buy things and just carried him in so I could walk around and feed him while my friend shops, without having to worry about also pushing a stroller or carrying a car seat.I take him and the car seat when:It’s cold!I plan on taking his stroller (His car seat clicks into the stroller, and he’s too small to sit in a stroller without the car seat)I’m going somewhere with lots of germs, like the doctor or urgent care. I have a nice fabric cover to protect him from the nasties.I’m in a huge hurry. It’s easier to take out his bucket seat and leave the base than it is to unbuckle and move all his little straps. I can carry the car seat for a short distance if I really just need to run in and get out of a store.I’m not going back out to the car for a long time. At night I’ll carry his car seat into the house and when we get to work in the morning. It’s dark outside. It’s hard to make sure he’s in the seat properly if it’s dark and I can’t see. It’s safer to put him in the seat while I’m in the house with the lights on.

It really annoys me that mothers and toddler get priority parking?

Lol its not like that in the USA. Only handicapp and expectant mothers get priority....
