Are There Any Wilderness Therapy/adventure Programs That Are Based On Just Running

Where can you go in Vermont for a wilderness adventure?

I recommend all the #4 RDS. Find a dirt road. Follow it. The less traffic the better it gets. Try to go up. Covered Bridges and streams, rivers are a good sign your going nowhere. And nowhere is the best adventure. Bring beer. There's lotsa nowhere roads going up hill here in VT. Even the oldest Vermont can get lost.I was going nowhere a few weeks ago, at night, in a snowstorm. Sterling Rd(?) …we were far from our destination, but we were so high up there in the curvy steep climb of a mountain. We passed a bulldozer and maybe three homes…not a porch light or polluting lumen for miles. As far as my preferred adventures and nature…We were lost, but we were exactly where the universe wanted us.To be in Vermont, in this kinda dumping snow, on a road I do not know … not a soul in sight. But spirit bright.Well…thats my most recent favorite wild.

Does Wilderness Therapy require a college Education?

I am interested in the idea of Wilderness Therapy. Are there college programs for it? And if so, what schools have good Wilderness Therapy programs?

If not, are there majors that would increase your likelihood of getting a job in Wilderness Therapy?

Wilderness Survival??? Please HELP***?

Both answers can be found in the Boy Scout Field book if you don't have one get one,
http://fieldbook.scouting.org/

Here is the low down on bears. First keep a clean camp, don't cook or eat in your campsite or tent separate those by 100 ft away from your tent site. Next use a bear proof canister to keep your food supply in and any smelly stuff like soaps tooth paste and deodorant. Keep that in another location at least 100ft away from your campsite. Now as for your self wear bright colors and bear bells as you hike in bear country. Carry pepper spray for any sudden close encounters this is better than any firearm. Know your surroundings and what to look for like bear rubbings or bear scat. Bear scat will have bits of bright colored clothing and bells in it and smell of pepper spray! LOL!!! got ya!

Now again your Field book will also cover wild edible plants not all but the most common. Because there are so many I won't delve into the specifics either but you as a boy scout should always be prepared and have enough food rations so as not to need to eat wild plants. For me I use them to augment what I have brought with me and only take what I am absolutely sure of is safe to eat. As a reference, the book "into the wild" a story about Christopher McCandless, his death is caused in part by his failure to be able to properly identify what was safe to eat and that my friend is why it is not wise to eat wild plants. As for animals I would say most are fair game there are some wild toads that are poisonous, but all north american wild game is safe to eat including rattle snake so enjoy.

Can wilderness therapy really help? Has anyone faced a therapy like this?

Yes Off Course!Wilderness therapy uses wilderness expeditions for the purpose of therapeutic intervention.Wilderness therapy has been continuously evolving over the past fifty years. This evolution became more clinically intensive in the early to mid-90’s when companies similar to Blue Ridge Therapeutic Wilderness in the western US recognized the power of the therapeutic intervention that was occurring without the supervision of a licensed clinical professional. By shifting to pair exceptional clinical services and supervision with the power of the wilderness experience, a new model was born that is more appropriate for the vulnerable and clinically complex clients we serve. When we opened Blue Ridge Therapeutic Wilderness, we added even more value to the wilderness experience by adding a career track for the field staff who reside with and care for our clients 24/7. It is the field staff who teach and model the skills and lessons of the woods, which in turn creates an avenue for clients to become more empowered.for more information visit: Blue Ridge Therapeutic Wilderness

What is the best was to deal with the "too cool" children in Scouting?

Peer pressure and/or older boys is the most effective method.  If it's a camp chore, the other kids will ensure that the kid gets to work.  Keep in mind that the senior patrol leader should be running the show... the scoutmaster and troop committee are there for guidance.  This is part of the learning experience for patrol leaders and SPLs.  If you see the SPL leader slacking off or ignoring some problems then that's when the scoutmaster should guide him. Also, get the "cool kid" involved with planning the activities (i.e. put them on the PLC or give them some leadership role in camp).  They now have a vested interest in making it a success.  Don't like the scout songs?  Great, you can run the campfire and come up with some skits and songs. In terms of activities, these 'cool kids' are typically teens (3rd-5th year in  scouts) who are mortified that a friend from school would see them in uniform singing an old campy scouting tune.  You need to ask yourself, what cool things are being offered by your troop?  The kids are going to talk about what they did on their weekend or summer vacation.  If that only involves going to a camp with a bunch of 11 year olds then I can understand the older child's dissatisfaction.  Week long backpacking or canoe trips, scuba diving, flying a plane, mountain climbing, etc., etc... these are some activities that the older boys can do as part of the troop's high adventure program.  My troop was large so we offered a 2nd year scout 'adventure' trip that was a watered down high adventure trip.  A final point: Cell phones should stay home & have little to no place on trips or at meetings.  If they pull it out then they can call their parents to pick them up.  If they need to call someone (e.g. parent didn't show up after the meeting) then they can use the scoutmaster's phone.

Was it the Buddhist prayer "Om Mani Padme Hum" what inspired Lucas to name the princess "Padme" in Star Wars?

I can't seem to find anything confirming that, but from what I just found I would not doubt that you are correct. Also, George Lucas is a pretty intelligent fellow and does tie a lot of history and religion in his movies.
Great question!

Is real estate one of the low risk investments to create wealth?

Short answer: yesWhilst in the short term property values go up and down, over the long-term they almost always increase. So long as you buy property that has a strong rental demand and present it in a condition that is towards the top end of other properties in the market the you will always have strong demand. If you leverage then you can usually expect rents to increase while the interest payments stays the same. To those with modest capital to invest, resedential property probably offers the best opportunity to build real wealth.
