Are There Federal Misdemeanors

How to expunge federal misdemeanor charge?

You could try writing your Congressman.
At present, there is no provision for expungment of federal convictions. A pardon might be possible, but you can not have a federal conviction expunged.
There is presently a bill in front of congress seeking to change this and allow for certain federal convictions to be expunged. This bill has not been passed, however. It is still under debate.

Can a federal felony conviction be reduced to a misdemeanor? Are there suspended sent for fed. cases?

plead guilty to possession of counterfit security 12/07. I believe one count was dropped in exchange for not forcing trial. 6 months home confinement and 5 years probation was sentence. Had to go before state licensing board and was asked if I received a suspended sentence, didn't know answer. In the course of trying to figure out answer ran across process of reducing felony to misdemeanor on state level.

Can i get a pistol permit with a misdemeanor?

First off, none of these people know anything about obtaining a NYS Pistol permit. If you have a misdemeanor it is still possible to get a pistol permit in NY but it will be a very long drawn out process. If you have a felony charge you can forget about it.With a misdemeanor it will take a minimum of 1 year and close to $300 to get yourself on the up and up. You may have to appear in front of a judge to explain in detail why you have these charges. It is in the hands of the judge weather you are issued a permit at this time.be honest and assertive as you are going to get grilled with about 100 questions. make sure you have 4 reliable contacts (People in high places get youmore points).

Is mail tampering a misdemeanor or felony?

My ex opened and read a letter that was addressed to me, after our breakup. He then resealed it and I never knew he had done this until recently. I'm not planning on doing anything about it because it happened a long time ago, but I want to know how serious what he did is. I would like to know if mail tampering like this is a misdemeanor or a felony, and if there is a statute of limitations for a situation like this?

Does a misdemeanor go away? How long does it take?

How long do you have to list it might be a better question. They don't go away. After a certain period of time they are simply not relevant. A misdemeanor a year ago is certainly more ‘serious' than that exact same misdemeanor ten years ago.How long does it need to keep being brought up? That depends on a particular job and its requirements and how the question is asked. But it's always there unless dismissed or expunged or pardoned if someone wants to dig that far and deep into the past.

Does a State Misdemeanor conviction = being considered a Felon (on a federal level)?

I asked this question on yahoo yesterday and was told NO that being convicted on a state level misdemeanor ALWAYS will only be a misdemeanor NOT felony because a misdemeanor's definition is "less than a felony"
And that my own lawyer is wrong is telling me a state conviction of a misdemeanor 1 in Pennsylvania is considered a felony on federal level.

I guess my lawyer sucked.
Not a bad person, just an overworked lawyer who was doing me a favor handling my case pro bono.
Im innocent and didnt take a plea bargain for m3 count because I thought the risk of an M1 charge in Pennsylvania wasnt bad

Now my lawyer is freaking me out telling me that a State Misdemeanor conviction of M1 in the Commonwealth of PA is considered a Felony on federal level.
(because the maximum time is up to 5 years )

I have not been sentenced yet.
If Im sentenced to probation and a misdemeanor 1 conviction how can this equal being a felon and losing my civil rights.
Is this true ?
Am I currently a convicted felon ?
I keep looking up standard defintions of felonies and it uses words such "generally', 'usually' for the definition equals more than 1 year imprisonment.

Im 32 and never been in any trouble before

it could be probation or who knows what./; i know i will appeal.

so is a PA M1 charge equal to Federal felony ?

Someone smart please help
!!!

I just turned down a GREAT amazing life changing job in politics last week because I was certain that she was right.

And this just lends itself to my growing horror that she unfortunately let me down adn hasnt paid attention to my case. I asked her to call witnesses in my defense and use 3 pieces of key evidence on my behalf.

Anyway, keep these answers coming. So appreciated !
