Are There Regular Buses Between Ooty Coonoor Kotagiri Etc

Which is the best way to travel to Coimbatore to Ooty?

You would be amazed by the scenery that nature has to offer on a road trip from Coimbatore to Ooty. You can start from Coimbatore preferably late afternoon, reach Mettupalayam and then take the Kotagiri road. More scenic and less traffic. If you’re lucky, you can even spot deer on the way or sometimes elephants. Now, there is a small village named Aracode, some 4 kilometers before reaching Kotagiri. Take thus route and wander through the tea estates spread all over the land, ponds, birds, tree houses and what not. Drive towards Catherine falls, takes an 1-kilometer trekking through tea plants and natural gardens to reach the falls, which is totally worth it. There’s also a vlley nearby, don’t forget to visit it too. Some photos that I took:(Road to Catherine falls)(View from the valley)(Another one)(Catherine falls, the water is so pure here)From Kotagiri, continue on the road to Ooty. There are pretty good places to visit like Dottabetta, Ooty Lake, Pykara Lake and botanical garden. For the return journey, you can start from Ooty and travel via Coonoor, Mettupalayam and reach Coimbatore. There is also morning train that leaves around 7 A.M. from Mettupalayam to Ooty. That is the best train journey you will experience in the whole south India. But the downfall is that you have to reserve the tickets three months prior to the journey date. Summer is the best time to travel.(Train journey to Ooty - not shot by me!)Hope this helps.Happy Journey :)Thanks for reading!

Are bike rentals available in Ooty & Coonoor?

There are already many answers for this, but I could not find anything latest. So, I am writing this answer as an update. I visited Ooty and Coonor from 9th June to 11th June, 2018.Yes, bike rentals are available. One can use the following methods:ZopRent.com: They are quite professional. They give proper invoice with GST and other details . After the online payment is done, you have to go to the designated location and collect the bike from its owner. ZopRent -Self-driven Car & Motorbike Rentals-Bangalore, Ph: +91-7338295909Direct rentals: There are many offline bike rentals. There is one near new assembly room, Ooty, called “Oosman cycle works”. They provide bikes and scooty & it will cost the same as online, just without the GST charges. Ph: 9994553757; 9123521251; 9894099087. Location details: https://goo.gl/maps/UVGMommXb8A2My experience: We rented one Apache RTR 180 with one helmet from Zoprent. It cost us Rs 2124 for 3 days. (Rs 600/day plus taxes). The bike was in a good condition except for low mileage (apx 20 km) and slightly weak brakes (which is expected for rental bikes that run in mountain areas)Bikes may not be available in Coonor. But the distance from Ooty to Coonor is just 23 kms, so it is not a big deal to pick up the bike from Ooty itself. The road from Ooty to Coonor as well as Ooty to Kotagiri has some excellent views; misty mountains and lush green tea plantations. So, a bike trip through the winding roads is highly recommended!

Can I find Ola or Uber services in Ooty?

Unfortunately no as it is a hilly terrain and fixing prices on the meters is quite difficult.Ola and Uber could bring in their services to Ooty but it will take another couple more years.Plenty of Auto rickshaws available for local travel, they are a bit pricey but currently this is what we have. You can also hire cabs from the hotel/cottage you’re staying at to help you sight see in and around Ooty, Coonoor, Kotagiri, Pykara, Mudumalai etc.
