Are There Ways To Separate Hamsters

I separated my hamsters but they miss each other?

I recently had to separate 2 of me Russian Dwarf hamsters due to fighting. They fought and one of them bled, so that was why I kept them apart, but one of them misses the other hamster. I cant put them back in the same cage because they will fight more. What should I do? I was thinking of letting them play, but in an open area where I can watch them, just in case they fight.

Why are my dwarf hamsters all of a sudden fighting?

hamsters are territorial and males also tend to fight if they are in the same cage together, kinda like any boy, really, animal or otherwise, all you have to do is but to horomone crazed boys together, and what do you know? they start fighting. this might also happen with to females, but not a likely to happen.

Should I release my hamster to nature? My hamster is trying to "break jail" every night. I wonder if it is eager to be free. Will it be happier living in the wild?

If by "the wild" you mean inside your home, then by all means go ahead. He will love living under your fridge. Ours did, when he escaped. Make sure and leave out some food and water and he'll be happy as a clam. Oh, but he'll need a mate. The two of them will be happy under your fridge or they may decide to move into larger quarters behind the dishwasher when the kids arrive. They'll die eventually, probably from chewing on power cords or falling into the toilet. I don't know how ours did it, but he somehow found a way. (We found him before it was Too Late.) Some of their offspring should survive though, and continue to entertain you by climbing into your sock drawer and chewing up your socks to make a nest.In the outdoors, they will soon get cold and wet, and they won't know how to find food or evade predators, so that is not safe for them. They won't be happy at all.I think what your hamster really wants is some exercise. First, he needs a running wheel in his cage. This is an absolute necessity. Hamsters love to run and explore, that's why they love escaping. In measured wheels, they have been recorded traveling as far as four miles in one night! That doesn't mean they want to be fed to the neighborhood cats and owls in the great outdoors. We let ours out for a run every night, indoors of course. We taught them to come when we called. (They were all very tame to handle, so they were not scared of us.) I call a hamster by scratching and making scuttling sounds with my fingers on the floor. They are so curious about that noise that they always come to see if it might be another hamster. Then I just scoop them up. Sometimes they would fall asleep in certain favourite places, like my shoe cupboard. We got to know where to look for them. Don't ever feed them outside their cage (except as bait). If they can't find any food during their outings they are usually happy to find a treat back in their cage when they return. For the more skittish ones, another way to catch them is to put a small dark box on the floor. We used a tea cannister. Dark holes are irresistible to hamsters, they just can't help themselves, but must go in and take a look. Worked every time. We had full-sized hamsters, not the mini Russian ones. The mini ones are much harder to tame and catch, but I think the same techniques might work.

Hamsters hissing at each other?

Let me guess, you have Syrians? (normal sized hamsters) These are solitary creatures - in the wild, they basically come together for mating and then go their separate ways. They really don't enjoy each others companies. Move their cages farther away from each other and you'll likely stress your pets out less. Hissing is not the sound of a happy hamster.

My boy and girl Hamsters biting?

What kind of pet shop sold you a boy and girl hamster to keep together? That was very irresponsible of them. First of all, Syrian hamsters are solitary animals, that means they want to live on their own. They don't like company! It stresses them out. They much prefer to live alone and be handled by people than to be friends with their own kind. In the wild, Syrian hamsters have huge areas to themselves that they consider their territory. When they see a strange hamster, they attack them to get them out. Your hamsters are just acting on their instinct, and trying to keep themselves safe. Secondly, a male and female hamster should NEVER be kept together! Syrian hamsters only get together when they need to breed, and once they've bred, they go their separate ways! It is not natural for them to live together. When the female hamster is not ready to breed, she will attack the male relentlessly, and he will keep trying to mount her. This is very stressful for both of your hamsters. Your female hamster is basically being sexually harassed all the time, and your male hamster is being beat up all the time. Furthermore, if you keep them together, they're going to have litter after litter, the brothers will impregnate their sisters, the father will impregnate his daughters, the sons will impregnate their mother... and so on. Hamsters don't realize they're related, and if you keep a boy and a girl, you will soon have dozens and dozens of hamsters. Hamsters can also get pregnant VERY young, so they will continue this cycle until you can get them living separately!

Hamster bite marks can become infected easily, so you don't want to wait until you see a bleeding wound to separate them. Separate them AS SOON AS POSSIBLE, before the female gets pregnant and before they hurt each other! If you do not have two cages, you'll have to return one of them to the pet store! And while you're at it, yell at them for selling you a boy and a girl together!

How to determine a robo hamster's sex at an early age?

My baby robo hamsters are about 3 weeks old and it's time to separate the males and female. How do I determine their gender? I read online about different ways to do it, but their genitals all look the same, but I doubt that they're all the same sex.

Breeders, how do you determine a robo hamster's sex at an early age. And what is the maximum age that the baby male and females and be kept together.

Please, only answer if you are very experienced in this and that your method or ways is 100% affective. Thanks in advance.
