Are There Websites Where People Post Their Own Lyrics

Why do some bands not post their lyrics on their website?

Three reasons I can think of...1. Bands have an insane amount of things to do already.  In addition to practicing their craft, making good music, playing that music live locally and regionally, and figuring out some way to finance this, they are expected to tweet, manage a Myspace, a Facebook and a ReverbNation.  They are expected to promote their own shows, manage their finances, make sure people come to rehearsal, get CDs made, get t-shirts made, or at least designed, and on and on.  Putting lyrics up is just one more thing that takes 30-60 minutes to do, and some bands are just lucky to have a webpage at all.2. They're lazy.3. Their lyrics aren't that good.

Are song lyrics websites legal?

USA or UK (or elsewhere)? The correct answer is that the law of the country in which you are based may apply. For example, in the UK, you can post the lyrics as long as the creator gives their permission. Simple. Usually, a problem only occurs if someone notifies you that they own the copyright to those lyrics and there is a potential to cause a loss (i.e. Piracy). If this occurs, you should find out who created the lyrics and get their permission. If the person claiming misuse is the creator, you must take them down or risk being sued. There is a practical difference in the way Copyright law is applied to anyone hosting copyright material as a hobby and someone who is or aims to profit from it.

Do websites that post music lyrics receive copyright take-down notices or face other legal problems?

They do if they actually post them themselves. Most lyrics sites let the users post the lyrics, which may or may not be a way around this. Far as I know, the only legal lyrics site is MetroLyrics. They reached an agreement with the music publishers a few years ago, and they pay for the right to post the lyrics.

Is it legal to make a website / app that shows you lyrics for songs?

No, I don't think so. It's up to you, if you wanna share your lyrics with others or not, Lyrics help people sing and learn to sing their favorite songs. It also helps people to understand the song. If you think it's the writer's property then he doesn't want to represent his song, you just listen to it, play the track, love it or officially you can purchase it. Now these days most song lyrics are not being available on internet. People have their own interest to share their lyrics or not. If you want, you can share all your lyrics, that's not illegal, illegal is when you copy others lyrics and put it to your verse and share it with any site or app. You must be good at writing lyrics. Simple as that.

Is it legal to post lyric videos?

You can simply upload it, but what comes with it may not be good for your channel. As the music doesn't belong to you, the audio will get matched against the soundtrack reference and will be claimed by the original owner of the song (Original artist or the record label). Then their match policy will become active on your video. Which means, they can do any of the following with your video:Monetise it - ads will be played on your video and revenue will go to the claimant.Track it - if you are lucky, nothing will happenBlock it - your video will be blocked and a DMCA notice will be issued against it. Also, you will receive a copyright strike for violating the copyright policy on YouTube. Then, you will lose some important YouTube features like monetise, custom thumbnails, YouTube cards etc. If you receive more 3 strikes, your channel will be permanently suspended. So, upload it on your own risk.

Can I make money from lyrics videos on YouTube?

You sure can.Without a doubt.Say you start a channel or you already have a channel. You take popular music videos, put them into a software where you can create videos and edit the content e.gPower Director, Final Cut and if you want to get real technical the Adobe Premiere Pro CC, Apple Final Cut Pro X Apple iMovie (for Mac OS X)Corel VideoStudio Ultimate X10 etc etcBut you won't need that for what you want to do.Just use a simple one that is free for the computer you use.Anyway import the video in, and start familiarising yourself with the editing tools.Find the title or subtitle function and start putting lyrics into every segment of the song you chose.when you’re done save and export your video and upload to YouTube. You can make money from this for sure because people are always going to search for videos with lyrics so they can sing along etc.So that is the watered down version of how to do it but if you make hundred of videos with lyrics to peoples favourite songs, with subscribers and views etc sooner or later Youtube will come knocking.Edit: I forgot to add, you don't need the video, you can use a background from the video editing software and just import the audio. Then add the lyrics against a background:) Which might be easier. All the very best!
