I know for a fact that every guy prefere high heels. I hope I can help.For an interview, it's important to put your best self forward, emphasis on self. To make the best impression, you need to feel comfortable. If you wear heels all the time, go ahead and wear heels. If you never wear heels, your interview is not the time to reinvent yourself. Maybe wear better, more fashionable shoes than normal, maybe cute but practical 1″ heels, but nothing far out of your comfort zone. The stereotype at design firms and schools used to be quirky shoes; I’m not sure if that's still the case, but architects are a pretty forgiving audience regarding shoes.I understand the inclination, especially if you're young, to feel like you should emphasize your “design” self. Again, just be yourself. Conservative dress has a place in architecture too. If you're one of those fashion-forward types who sews their own clothes, have at it. You don't need Quora’s advice in that case. If you're not, don't pretend to be. Dressed nicely, no matter what the style, is nice and respectful of your interviewers.Where do I fall? Well, I wear jeans any chance I get, so interviewing is a bit like playing dress up for me. I always wear a skirt and jacket combo. I find skirts and dresses are more forgiving in a way that pants are not: slightly loose or tight pants just look off. Now that I'm a grown up, I like to shop for that kind of thing at BCBG or Club Monaco: dressy but not stuffy. If that's not in your budget, you can achieve the same and fancier looks by digging through places like Century 21. My shoes are generally low or chunky-heeled.Here's my take on the image in your question:The left outfit is common in architecture firms — more common in corporate architecture firms, maybe worn by a Project Manager.The middle outfit does not look like an architect’s outfit. The firm's legal councel might wear that.The right outfit might be worn day-to-day, though not at an interview. I wouldn't wear it at all, because I make an effort to not look sexy.
