Are Vitamins Just As Effective When Frozen

Can you substitute a good multi-vitamin for fruits/vegetables?

It goes like this:

Pure Vitamins cannot be put in a bottle. Vitamins are an intrinsic part of a living thing and cannot be separated. Why, because vitamins are a complex, not just one element. What you see in a bottle of, say, Vitamin C is only one part of Vitamin C, usually the acid, with is only the preservative part of Vitamin C. Vitamin pills are a total scam. Perhaps a supplement made form whole foods would be better, but it would still be highly processed. I'm thinking that spirulina and blue green algae and such products would be the best alternative.

Vitamins within a plant are naturally balanced with all of the other elements that make up the plant, thus, if you eat it, you will be eating a balanced food, and thus be balanced yourself. If you take a pill, even if it's packed with nutrition, it's totally unbalanced and thus you will be unbalanced. Being out of balance will put a lot of stress on your body because it will have to fight to keep in balance and do some drastic things such as break this down and get rid of it, take some of that from there and put it here, etc.

Think of osteoporosis. Why does that exist? Because someone eats too much protein over many years. The body only needs and is only capable of using a very small amount of protein and any excess protein needs to be broken down and gotten rid of, and to do this it takes energy, vitamins, minerals, including a lot of calcium. The body takes emergency calcium from the bones to get rid of this excess protein.

So, balance is the key to good health.
So, start a garden. It's easy; it can even be done in thick plastic bags or pots on the apartment balcony. There are whole sections of books in your local library dedicated to such topics as growing your own food. And it's cheap cheap cheap!! We have a garden, and it's an all-year-round garden in Canada. We literally go to the garden and pull out $20 retail worth of stuff and it doesn't even look like we touched a thing. Living like kings, especially in the spring, summer, fall. It's one of those things that seems daunting, but once you start growing your own food, it's super easy. It's like learning to bake bread; you only get better as time goes on.

Are vitamins just as effective when frozen?

I bought some vitamins a couple of days ago, and I couldn't find them. Later I found out my husband accidentally put them in the deep freezer. :P Will they still be effective? I know that certain medications don't work if they are not stored at the proper temperature. And I'm quite sure the bottles would have stated whether or not the vitamins should be at a certain temperature to remain effective, which they don't. What is your opinion?

Where do artificial vitamins come from and are they as good for you as vitamins from food?

Vitamins from food sources are best. The ingestion of fruit and vegetables not only include the vitamins in question but hundreds of micronutrients that are absorbed slowly through the small intestine over the day(s). This leads to the metabolic benefits.Given the most vitamins are water soluble, supplement intake does not replicate the benefits of ingesting fruit and vegetables. Well known professor and physician Paul Offit has a great review on this where he illustrates how vitamin studies show a higher risk of cancer and death in regular vitamin users. Opinion | Don’t Take Your VitaminsFrozen fruit and vegetables are as good as fresh and may contain more nutritional value than store bought fresh because there isn’t as much degradation during storage. Are Frozen Fruits and Vegetables as Nutritious as Fresh?

Why are frozen fruits and veggies cheaper than fresh ones?

A good question. There are many commercial, logistic and scale reasons that apply here. I will try to explain.Firstly, you remove time as a constraint. The biggest difference between the supply chain of fresh vs frozen is that frozen has a huge advantage in terms of easy storage and less deterioration. Fresh produce is very perishable and must be harvested, conditioned, packed, shipped, merchandised in shops, sold to consumers and eaten in a short time. There is inevitable wastage along the supply chain as any delay or mis-match between supply and demand (even on a day to day basis) results in waste. Waste is currently more expensive than the cost of electricity to keep frozen product frozen. Retailers have to apply a relatively high margin to fresh produce to compensate. This all skews the price advantage at a micro level towards frozen.(Be aware that retailers do not always sell at the “true” cost + margin. There are many examples of “price leaders” where the retailer has chosen to sell below cost. In most countries this is entirely acceptable and is a way for them to gain market share over their competition.)Secondly scale. The scale of operation for frozen, and hence economies of scale. Only a small number of vegetables can successfully frozen (or, indeed, where the demand is high enough to invest in a freezing operation). Frozen fresh peas are a great example - just google it. With scale comes massive advantages in harvesting costs - compare with labour charges for harvesting is nearly always the most costly input in the fresh cut/ harvest operation for fresh produce. The harvest of frozen veg production is nearly always by 100% mechanical means of specially selected varieties. With fruit, there can be another factor - which is related to removing time and perishability as a factor. I have come across occaisions where over-production of berries ( as an example) that were destined for fresh, can be diverted to freezing: so the farmer has less waste in volatile market conditions.Lastly (and there may be more!) there are examples of where crops with lower quality attributes than is demanded for the fresh market (and hence cheaper), can be acceptable for freezing. So again waste is diminished. There is a delicate balance of supply and demand as always, but I hope this helps your question.

Is it safe to drink expired milk that was frozen before expiration?

Freezing milk is very popular method of milk preservation in very hot countries,I was born in Punjab region of India, and once grown and got my credentials as professional for dairy scientist/chemist, and that was totally intrigued when our professor in early 1971 taught us, how milk is frozen, and it is transported in rail carriages to mega cities like Bombay ( Mumbai). I told my parents, and they both could not believe it, and they were very impressed.Making long story short, Freezing milk is very old method of preserving milk.It may not look nice on thawing because sometimes fat separates and you may have to blend may be hand blender.Sensory Evaluation is the best fast and very reliable testIn milk industry millions of or rather billions of lbs of milk is bought and sold just on sensory evaluation.Taste milk and spit out and rinse your mouth, also do the smell test, your sensory evaluation cannot be wrong. If you do not like it, and taste sour/abnormal and smell abnormal,Do a very simple test COB (clot on boiling) take a small portion of milk and heat to boil, smell it, and spread this in a flat dish and check for any clots, small clots (dots) are indication that milk is going to go soon, and large clots, it means it is gone already. In case you had frozen the milk and it was good milk, at thawing it is extremely high probability it is still good milk.Regards. If I juice fruits and veggies ahead of time, how long until they start to lose nutritional value?

Know your juicer, different types produce juices with varying amounts of nutrient loss from the juicing process itself. Juicers start the degradation of nutrients through heat and oxidation from foam.High-speed Masticating Juicers produce too much heat so you must drink the juice immediately before the nutrients totally degradeCentrifugal Juicers create oxidation that degrades nutrients, so you should also drink the juice immediately before the nutrients totally degrade.Slow-speed Masticating Juicers produce less heat and oxidation so you can refrigerate juices for up to one day..Hydraulic Press Juicers produce very little oxidation and and heat, and produce the highest nutrient juice.which can be stored 3 days without losing much nutritional value.

Recipe calls for two packages of frozen spinach. What amount of fresh spinach leaves is this?

Each box of frozen spinach is 10 ozs. That is a heck of alot of fresh spinach. You're talking about needing 20 ozs. after you cook it down. You'll need at least 4 large bags of fresh spinach..at least 20 cups. (I admit, I'm guessing). You'd be better of going to market and buying the frozen. Your recipe will be more accurate, and cost efficient. A box of frozen spianch is only around a dollar or so.

I've been battling with this wart for a little over 4 months. It started out as a little bump and I picked it off. It grew bike 3 times the size and is roughly about the size of a dime. It looked like read caulised skin that had tons of black seeds in it. I pcked It all off and it grew back again just the same. I got it froze and that was the most painful expeirience I've ever been through. A day later I picked it out and bits of I came out at a time easily and painfully. After it was a picked out it looked like you could see the meat of my hand. It was fleshy red and hurt to the touch. I left it alone and the wart grew back again! I just got it frozen yesterday and it was more painful than last time. It is now very hard and black. It hurts and I want to pick it out. What should I do? How long will this last? Should I pick it out again?

Will Vitamin E Help Fade Away Keloid Scars?

I had a few warts on my stomach when I was about 8 years old. I believe most of them were frozen off, and hell it still appears as if they are still there. keloid scars have formed. They are about the size of an eraser, and they are elevated jusssss barely above the skin. They are more pale colored than the rest of my skin tone. I am 18 now and I am disappointed I have not done anything before hand to try and "blend" or rid of the scars. I want to stay away from any operatons, or steroid injections. I came across a few threads on using Vitamin E. Does this help, I mean the scars are nearly a 10 yrs old but I would love to have them gone because it looks jus as bad as when i had the warts, ha. And where do I buy this vitamin E. Is it a pure based cream, or is it just like in lotions n such? Thanks guys!
