Are Weatabix Bran Flakes Healthy

Is it weird that i like bran flakes?

Bran flakes are very nice- they have tons of iron and are kind of malty in flavour too.
Very nice.
OK, they are full of sugar, but at least bran is there too.Good for you liking them, they probably appeal to elderly people to keep them regular.

I like them but there is just too much sugar in them for me, so I go with Barbara's cereals instead- Shredded spoonfulls
Sorry for the unasked for link I just love the cereal so much!

Funny, I was looking for the USA bran flakes ingredients, but they dont' have Bran Flakes in USA- just Raisin Bran.

Basically all the ceral here is FULL of corn suryp and high frustose corn syrup, instead of sugar, which is more expensive, and the weird thing is, cereal is really expensive here unlike UK.

I don't get it!
I love love love Bran Flakes with hot milk on them- Weetabix too.
Barabara's cereal just started selling Weetabix here as a "health food". You can see it in the health food aisle of supermarkets.

Very simple for a lay man to understand as wheat flakes is a product of whole wheat where the fiber content is taken care of. Healthy breakfast ideas (for weight loss) ?

Here are some healthy ideas :)
- Go for organics if you can.

* Oatmeal - good source of fiber, super healthy :)
- Topping ideas: skim milk or non-dairy milk like almond, soy or rice milk or nonfat yogurt, berries/fruit, raisins, dried blueberries or cranberries or cherries, cinnamon, nuts, almond butter or peanut butter, jam, honey, agave nectar, maple syrup, etc.

* Healthy cereal - like Kashi or Nature's Path Organic. High fiber cereals are best, find a cereal that isn't too high in sugar.
- Toppings: milk of your choice or greek/regular nonfat yogurt, berries/fruit.

* Homemade smoothie: Blend berries/fruit + 1/2 - 3/4 cup milk of your choice + 1/2 cup greek or regular yogurt. Add 1-2 tbsp ground flax seed if you'd like.

* Greek yogurt + berries/fruit. Add some nuts or healthy granola/muesli for some crunch if you'd like.
- Greek yogurt has more protein than regular yogurt.

As for eggs, they are so healthy and packed with protein. You can try them in an omelet with baby spinach & cheese, with cottage cheese, poached, boiled, scrambled, etc.

For toast go for multigrain, ezekiel, rye, whole wheat pita, whole grain tortilla or bagel, whole grain english muffin, etc. Whole grains are best.

* Toast topping ideas: almond butter/peanut butter, jam, honey & cinnamon, slice of cheese, cream cheese, goat cheese, etc.

Hope this helps :)

Can Corn flakes cereal help you gain weight?

Generally, the majority of breakfast cereals contain too much sugar. There are many varieties of Cornflakes on the market so the ones with a higher sugar content should really be avoided. As always, the manufacturers like to promote their products as a healthy breakfast option which can aid in weight loss, but their claims are only enforced if you stick to the exact serving measurements - who does that? What are Cornflakes made of?Cornflakes base ingredient is of course, Corn. Then there are other major additives such as Sugar, Malt Flavouring and High Fructose Corn Syrup, of which most of these have a high GI (Glycemic Index). The fact that they have a loe fat/protein content also means that they will not help you stay feeling full for very long, and the sugar content will only help promote fat storage. The added high fructose corn syrup is a simple carbohydrate, and breaks down rapidly boosting your blood sugars. A lot of people also add extra things like sprinkling sugar or pouring honey on top, in addition to the milk to add flavour.Doing this seriously raises the sugar content, putting you at a much higher risk of adding on the pounds.Cornflakes have a very high GI rating of about 82, meaning it produces high concentrations of blood glucose.Based on this I would suggest that Cornflakes are not the healthiest of choices when trying to lose weight, and can certainly aid weight gain.Healthy Alternatives:Instead of eating Cornflakes every morning, try some other healthy alternatives such as wheat flakes or oatmeal. Try using low fat milk, and add some nuts and berries to improve the overal nutrient content of your breakfast. Also try other foods like Eggs, Pancakes with fresh fruit etc.Be inventive with your breakfast, keep it healthy and always watch out for hidden sugars!Hope this helps :-)

Is shredded wheat or weetabix better?

Is 1 weetabix or 1 pillow of shredded wheat lower in calories, and which is healthier? Which is better for weight loss if eaten without sugar and with the same amount of soya milk?

Whats a healthy lunch?

I like to make simple sandwiches.
Lettuce and Vegemite
Mashed Eggs
Sliced Tomatoes.

Season each to taste.

I would take 6 to work with me and have a couple at morning teatime, and the rest for lunch.

How fattening is Weetabix?

I’m a huge Weetabix fan! I’ve eaten them since I was a child.I think you’d be hard pressed to find a better breakfast cereal. It’s high in both soluable and non-soluable fiber, low in sugar. 136 Calories for two bails of… errr weetabix is great.Throw on some milk, be it dairy, soy, almond, whatever is your poison, a sliced up banana or sprinkle in some blueberries or strawberries. Yum! You can even sprinkle on some ground flax seed if you are so inclined. You are now miles ahead of most breakfast cereals you’ll find in the grocery stores.Enjoy!P.S Yes they look like something designed to be fed to farm animals, but they are delicious. For reals.

Is it possible to make your own Weetabix cereal from scratch at home?

Wow. You are speaking of the most beloved English cereal of all time, and they so love their biscuits! Actually I believe it originated in Australia, but how they came about using flakes of wheat formed, I imagine, with malted barley extract + sugar is above my experience. Years ago I had taken a few of them (they soften quickly in milk) and used them in recipes, but have not felt inspired to duplicate them from scratch. The question did prod my curiosity (it doesn't take much!) & I searched for a recipe for wheat flakes. Surprise, there are a few! The most sensible one was here for homemade cold cereals. Now, how one would take fragile baked wheat flakes, coat them in malted barley (as a syrup?) and then press them into flat biscuits would require patience experimentation. The classic proportions of wheat to malted barley is 95% to 5% in the original Wheetabix which isn't much "glue" at all. Perhaps tossed in malted powder mixed with sugar ... gently pressed into a layer a pan and baked till the melted sugar glues the mass? Breaking them into biscuits would be tricky and likely very messy ... flaking everywhere! Not sure tidy shaped biscuits would be worth the effort but that would be my first attempt if my curiosity led me to creating a copycat Wheetabix. It's an interesting idea!
