Are You Burned Out On The Job

How do you know when you are burned out at your job?

Obviously, you are burned out at your job if you feel like your soul has died. And theres absolutely nothing wrong with that, it's probably just time for a change. I was working in a bank for two years, and it's very routine, and I'm like you I like to be creative and to do something different everyday. I'm still only 20 years old and I'm starting to go to school for interior designing, (most likely). If your not interested in your job anymore, I wouldn't say be a flat leaver and just quit, but keep going to work even though you hate it, until you find something else just so you have some type of income coming in. But don't stay there just for the paycheck, do something that will make you happy, and everything in your life will probably start to get better as well. Jobs I would recommend that would allow you to express your creativity would be things along the lines of, wedding planning, fashion designing, interior designing, maybe becoming a teacher, say kindegarten, it would give you a chance to do creative things with children, or consider going back to school part-time to help you figure out what you want to do. Everything will be fine, just stick it out a little bit longer. Also, look into the cosmetology field if that seems interesting to you.

Is it possible to be burned out from a job after only 2 days?

No - you can't "burn out" after 2 days working 4hrs/day. Have you seen a Dr? Is the standing and lifting causing your pain? You should know how your body works - are you in good physical shape or not? If you don't feel better after the weekend's break I think the job is physically too stressful for you. There are many illnesses which are triggered by too much activity - myopathy, fibromyalgia, etc. Do you have muscle pain or joint pain or both? Headache? Did all this start just after your new job started? Did you feel like this after some heavy activity before? You need to learn to listen to your body what it is telling you. If you are using your muscles and feet for the first time you will be sore and tired for a week but you should recover after some rest. If not I'd recommend to see a Dr.
Take care of yourself! Good luck!

Have you ever burned out on a job?

Yes, I left the security industry altogether for six months at one point.

Mainly due to the place I was working at was so full of drama, politics and toxic management.
Honestly, if NASA had investigated that place, so many breaches of humane treatment would've been found lol.

I agree and disagree with Yang Mu Ming.  I agree with his comment about finding out why you are burned out. I think this is important so you can learn more about yourself, but also you can determine what you need to do to avoid a burn out in the future. With this said, I do not think you should quit your job first. The current job market is quite competitive no matter where you are and I think you always need a plan, as well as a backup plan. It may be just a few weeks or could be months before you find a new job, and even so that new job may be lower than your current one. Also, what would you tell an interviewer as to why you're not working --- in the professional world I don't think a "burnout" looks good or holds much weight. One possible solution to combat both sides is that you tell the new company that you are not available immediately, but the date you mention must be reasonable. If too far in the future, then you would likely not get the job. For example, if you have to give your current company a month's notice. Then you might mention a specific date about six to eight weeks from the interview date. This would give you a few weeks in addition to the month. For specific questions, comments, or concerns, please feel free to get in touch. I am an education and business professional that has lived in China for more than the past six years. I am a burned out teacher. What can I do with my life?

I quit teaching about 4 years ago. I still do subbing, but it is none of the paperwork or headaches. Also have a landscaping business that goes from spring through fall. I am single, so I don't have to support a family. Do you have a spouse working? If you can possibly get away with it, just quit. You will find something else. Even if you work in a shopping mall, you will find that the life change gives you inspiration. I initially left thinking it would just be a leave of absence. The relief I felt was unanticipated. It was kind of like having your head in a vice for so long that you don't know how uncomfortable it is until someone takes it off! I had flashback type nightmares for about 3 years about having stressful situations in the classroom. Now I am actually considering going back into teaching, but either in a private school or abroad. I never want to do the urban public school district again. I know exactly what you are talking about. You can collect a nice paycheck and benefits, but it is not worth it. Get out while you can.

If you want to quit your job, you might need to see if you have enough savings and how long might it take for you to get a new job.It can be hard to keep on with your job if you are not motivated, specially if it requires lots of mental thinking. However you need to figure out ways to keep your mood on a positive level in order to keep on going. You might want to think of ways to relax and recharge in your personal time, like finding a stimulating hobby or activities (reading, bubble bath, meditation, you name it) to make up for the lack of it in your day time. Talk to your loved ones too, support from them can help you go through it. Also, proper sleep and rest are important, the more tired you are, the less patient you are for what you don't enjoy doing. Don't underestimate the power of lack of proper sleep, and coffee just don't help enough. Also, you might want to find ways to motivate yourself to the tasks of your job. Since you manage other people, perhaps try to focus on them. Are any of them lost or unclear? Are there ways to help them? How can you make it better?Try to see it as a game, in which you need to think of strategies to win the challenges. What alternate ways can you figure out creatively? Are ther ways you can make what you do easier?Lastly, perhaps you can consider vaccations if you really need a break.

Recruiter here. How many jobs have you applied for to get those 9 interviews? 9 sounds like a lot but over a period of a year, I’m not sure. Here’s why I’m asking. If you are applying for hundreds and hundreds of jobs for 9 interviews, the problem is mostly your resume or experience. If you’re getting a decent amount of interviews but not getting hired, obviously the problem is your interview answers. So I’d be curious whether you’ve gotten late in the interview process, or if you’re just getting phone interviews, etc.I wrote this blog post to diagnose why you can’t find a job. It has 16 common reasons. Check it out, and let me know what you think. If you think the interviews are your main problem, check out this article too. It’s my best tips for job interviews based on 5 years as a recruiter.I hope this helps. As for staying motivated and not getting burned out. Take a break. You deserve it. You’ll get a job, it’s okay to rest a bit. And remember it only takes 1. The statistics don’t matter. You need 1 job. So when you get your energy back and are ready to start trying again, use the info above and you can do it!If you think there is something specific that’s going wrong in the interview, let me know and I’m happy to try to help further.

Getting burned out on what my job as a reporter means!!!?

your right, i look at the news on my comp. and it is all the same stuff on every site. with stupid head lines, titles. and forget the tv news they are even worse. I hate to remind you of this because im prob talking about you. but so much of the print media is left wing and write everything with a bias an agenda. all the victims etc. no real reporting. you know , bridge falls down, and they say need more taxes. not where all road tax was spent. california is bankrupt and not a word about why. it is all just fluff and worse misleading . As to your " i want to see action being taken in our country" I think would be interesting to report why the taxes are not used as they were intended, Why is there so much corruption and lies when it comes to taxes and how they are spent. This is so important for the future of our country , because we are being lied to constantly. government at all levels feeds itself first, and continues to grow at alarming rates. like 100% in 8 years, we will never be able to survive this. It is choking us to death. But if you start writing things like that , things people want and need to hear. you paper will prob. shut you down. Because they love more government, more taxes, more welfare, more spending bla bla bla , never mind. I guess you just need to find a new outlet for your talents. I agree with you it has all become tabloid news.EDIT YOU SEE WHAT I MEAN ? THE GUY MR. K ,SAYS THE PROBLEM IS NOT ENOUGH TAXES, EVEN WHEN CALIFORNIA IS ONE OF HIGHEST TAXED STATES AND MANY tax payers and companies have left Ca for that reason. No bias in the media ???? Theres your proof. He did not offer any solution to calif bankruptcy except that people are not taxed enough. how dense some people are is really mind blowing. reduce the tax base then keep rasing the taxes untill all the tax payer are gone. pure genuis !!!! He is such a perfect example of which i spoke to. And he showed up right on que.

yes i did get burned out and there were always vultures waiting in the back ground to tear me apart. there were many times i had to work at un-natural hours with little sleep and another 12-16 hours to go.  i would get in the vehicle and start crying, asking myself what the hell am i doing here…..then the calm came….everything i did was for my daughter. i wanted to provide her with a good life.  i never had a childhood.  so for her it meant a lot to me to provide everything i possibly could.  every spare moment  was with her and when i was at work it was for her.  she graduated from university with 2 degrees both with distinction and she has never wanted for anything.  i have recently retired after 25 years in the service. a little busted up but well enough to go back to school again.  there is a saying……Courage is does not always roar as a lion….but is the little voice saying, i'll try again tomorrow.  never give up.  fight with everything you have,  find happiness in the smallest of things, be kind and gentle with all beings and especially yourself…you are worth it and you are loved
