Do Liberals Think The Government Should Provide Everything?

No, no and NO! Who ever asked for that? Why do you guys persist in asking this? No, government and taxes are NOT godly. They're just necessary. Do you think we can make a highly technical civilization like ours work without them? Not yet. Not by a long shot. That doesn't mean we want the government providing everything, so can you please stop asking this meaningless, irrelevant question? Thank you. By the way, nobody here gives a rat's patoot about some conversation you had an hour ago with somebody we don't know, will never know, and may or may not agree with. I didn't read it. Don't care. Don't know the person, so p*ss on him.

Nobody wants everything provided for them (well, a few people probably do, but we're not talking about them), but there are some things that just work better with oversight. In this case, the government isn't even doing the providing. It'll still be private insurance and you'll still be going to private hospitals, and such.

I know you don't like it, but some industries just work better with oversight. In the early part of the 20th century, our leaders saw fit to closely regulate medicine and banking, and decades later, different leaders thought it would be a good idea to deregulate those industries. It seems like every industry that was turned loose to the free market is self-destructing or has become so uncontrollably profit-driven that it doesn't work.

Banking needs to be regulated. Medicine needs to be regulated. Investment needs to be regulated. Insurance needs to be regulated. Yes, it sucks that raw capitalism sometimes isn't the best answer, but that's just the way it is. Sometimes, in some industries, it's fine and in others, it isn't. We have to make appropriate determinations and intelligent decisions to apply controls, rationally, and everything will work fine. Kinda strange that, in some case, guys who lived 100 years ago made some pretty good decisions, and we ended up creating chaos by reversing their wisdom.

Why do we need health care reform when we have medicaid?

I understand but the liberal agenda is claiming people can't afford health care, medicaid's purpose is to provide health care for those who can't afford it. The 50 million people statistic is supposed to be in medicaid. 80% of Americans are happy with their health care according to Scott Rassmussen Poll. But the real reason why health care is expensive and always will be is the shortage of doctors. Not the lack of people pooling risk. If Doctors were as common as an A/C repair man, you wouldn't need insurance. Insurance only exists to subsidize the cost of a calculated risk. It's the AMA's fault for making it too hard to become a Doctor.
