Salary will be not less than Rs 40000/- p.m . JE civil or electrical posted in GE Division will be eligible for quarters if married and await his turn as per seniority. He can get children admitted in Kendriya Vidyalaya and will be posted every 3 years. Qualifying Departmental exam will be helpful for promotion. Medical cover for him and his dependents, drawing groceries from unit run Defence canteens at concessional rates are available to him. Like any other Central government employee, he will be eligible for Leave travel concessions as per rules. He will also be eligible for house building advance at highly well spread repaying system. If he is diploma holder, he can pursue higher education with prior permission of higher authorities.

It is a Civilian post. Thereford your salary is based on seventh pay commission recommendations. If you are married then you are eligible for quarters. Otherwise you will be given HRA as per rules. You and your dependents are eligible for CGHS facilities and if you pass Departmental exam, then you get promoted. CSD card for drawing groceries upto your limit is allowed. There will be periodical postings. A civilian store Keeper need not look after explosives and risk allowance does not exist.

What are the promotional facilities for a JE working in a military engineering service?
I don't know whether the JE is civil or Electrical Engineer. Department exam is to be passed by the JE before he can be considered for promotion. Promotions are slow in coming. It takes atleast fifteen years or more before the JE can expect promotion. Those JEs who are not promoted in 10 years will be granted one financial upgradation and the second financial upgradation after next 10 years. This comes under modified assured career progression scheme with effect from 01 September 2008. Since an increment in lower pay scale is granted while pay fixation , there will be no additional financial benefits for this JE when he gets promotion. On promotion, JE becomes Asst Garrison Engineer and will be eligible for priveleges as an officer.
