Ashampoo Anti-virus 2014 Is Real Or Fake

What are some of the best utility tools to clean and optimize my PC?

Personally, I feel we don't need an optimizer software for PC permanently. I download and use TuneUp Utilities 30 day free to try version to maintain my pc from time to time. It has inbuilt defragmenter, registry cleaner, space optimization, startup task scheduler and many more. There are many other freeware maintenance softwares also which you can find at CNET.CCleaner is one of the famous ones in my circle used for space optimization and registry cleaning.

What is the top anti-virus, anti-malware software for 2018 for Windows 10?

I do a lot of testing, my wife jokingly says it’s a problem but I test thousands of malware/virus/ransomware/etc samples across multiple configurations, and there’s some important things to consider. Most Anti-Viruses/Anti-Malware will fail to detect within the first 2 weeks, and in 6 month’s time, the average detection rate reaches 60%. Meaning within half a year, you’re looking at a 60% chance at the most, that even some of the best programs will detect the trojan. This is assuming that you have up to date definitions, which current estimates have 24% of Anti-Virus users using up to date definitions. Factor that in, and it’s a real surprise why anybody relies on an Anti-Virus.With all this said, your true goal should be data protection. Instead of hoping that you are in a lucky small percentage of people using an Anti-Virus, you’re better off having a tool to protect your data. It’s still advised to have a Real-time Malware Protection tool, to which I’ll say Kaspersky is one of the better ones, and an On-demand Scanner, for which I use Malwarebytes. To protect your data though, you’ll need a snapshot tool, and regardless of which AV tool you choose, it’s important to have a snapshot of your data. I use Rollback Rx, it’s been the most valuable tool in any configuration I test and it’s completely free. Here’s some helpful links:https://www.kaspersky.comFree Cyber Security & Anti-Malware Softwarehttp://horizondatasys.com/rollback-rx-time-machine/rollback-rx-home/

Should I use software such as System Mechanic or Advanced SystemCare on my computer?

There are different opinions on this. I use Advanced System Care on all our PCs (7 of them), all since they ran Windows XP, then 7, then 8.1. The weaker machines definitely start up faster after running a scan and fix. On the other hand, if you're suspicious about having a product clean up your PC, then you can do pretty much everything by hand. It just requires a better understanding of e.g. What subfolders you can delete from your Windows Folder without harm because they are harmless... How to defrag a hard disk, etc.I use the full paid versions because they work well for me. No issues at all. I guess I'm the resident computer guy - at least because everything that goes wrong is inevitably my fault...

What is the best free PC optimization software?

You’re not going to like the answer, but honest to goodness it’s yourself. Don’t let any programs near your registry—they’ll either delete something important and stop your PC from working correctly or botch things up some other way.Uninstall programs you don’t use, use Malwarebytes or some other good antivirus/anti-adware/antiPUP software to clean out anything that you didn’t explicitly install, and just use the stock disk cleanup. If you want to speed up your PC and reduce background processes, use msconfig (from run prompt) on anything windows 8.1 or earlier, and a tab within task manager on 10 to disable things you don’t need running at boot. The less you entrust to 3rd party programs when it comes to the guts of your operating system, the better. Just read up a bit on what you can and can’t remove/disable and you should be able to do that yourself without the performance impact of installing yet another program to take care of it for you.
