Whenever a person learns from astrologer about any onslaugt of unfortunate event or is already suffering and approaches astrologer, he is actually seeking escape from such situation and suffering. He will ask, if there is any remedy and will press for it. To avoid adverse fortune any subject will be ready to undergo any remedy. Remedial measures come in four forms (1) gem stones, (2) appeasememt of weaker planets, (3) material donations, (4) appeasement of dieties.In astrology theory there many remedies specified, but inpite of being an astrologer myself, I am of the opinion that there is no scientific basis for any of these. The remedy suggestion is based on the belief system of the subject and power of suggestion. The assignment of gems to planets is very arbitrary.One must understand that by doing any remedial measure, the natal chart is not going to change. Most often the subject is scared to face any adversity and on his own will adk for remedy. It is futile to explain to him about uselessnes of remedial measures and astrologer arbitrarily suggests something. Most often due to power of suggestion, events don't change but subject had some positive feelings.There are few astrologers, who are in the business of making extra money by taking advantage of scared person.
What will you do if an astrologer suggests you to purchase stones?
You should ask for an alternative too. In my experience mantras chanting and fasting properly is more beneficial than wearing any gemstones. Mantras never harm you but wrong suggestion of gemstone and wearing that can do so. Wrong gemstones can disbalance the energies. You should go for mantra chanting and other options. Try to do practical remedies, by changing your way of living positively instead of hoping that gemstone can do a miracle.

I belong to a few guilds, and each guild has it pluses and mises. The real advantage is that people who belong to these organizations usually KNOW astrology. We invest a great deal to actually take courses (yes, and usually in many areas they are resonable. In order to join a professional group you need to prove your stuff. And there is a title. (although I do not use mine), and it helps with getting books published, as well as networking. Usually when you go to a guild to find an astrologer, they have guidelines of ethics they must follow. Trust me, they are extremely professional, and keeping things on the up and up with the government, and certain by laws of counties.
