At Renting A Room In Houston Whether It Is Possible Not To Pay A Deposit And Who Pays For Utilities

How long can you typically go without paying your apartment rent if you got a 3 days notice to pay the rent or get out?

I assure you that not paying your rent is one of the worst decisions that you can make. Your life will not be the same after an eviction. It can be a very traumatic experience.Every state is going to have slightly different eviction laws but here in Ohio my company has a very large rental portfolio in the Cleveland area and this is how we handle tenants who do not pay rent.Rent is due on the 1st.Rent is late on the 2nd.We call tenants 3x day from the 5th through the 10th.We put up 3 day notices on the 10th.After the 3 day notices we file for eviction. Once we file we will no longer accept rent. At this point the non paying tenant can't pay or get out of the legal ramifications of their actions. We win the court eviction and get a write to regain possession of the property. The eviction remains on your record for life. It will be incredibly hard if not impossible to find another landlord willing to rent to you.We send in the bailiffs (guns drawn) to the home. If you do not open the door they kick it in and forcibly remove any occupants living in the home.Everything that the tenant owns is placed on the curb by a moving crew. They can clear out an entire home in about 2 hours. They are not vary delicate with your possessions. Everything stays on the curb until 5pm. Scrappers and thieves usually come by and steal anything of value. At 5pm we bring a dump truck and load up everything that is left and take it to storage. After 30 days in storage we take it to the dump. After all of the above a non paying tenant can also expect the following to happen. We take you back to court and sue you for back rent, legal costs and damages. We garnish your wages until all debts are paid off.As you can gather from everything above being evicted is a terrible experience that is 100% preventable by you. Don't be stupid, pay your rent or move out of your landlord's property you are only hurting yourself if you don't.For more information on evictions take a look at the LIVE video of one of my company’s evictions below.Have more Real Estate related questions? What is your current living situation? WORTH 10 POINTS?

Live with parents? Renting apartment? Own a house? Got Roommates? Homeless?

I'm in the process of buying my first house with my husband. Right now I live in a shitty apartment on the 3rd floor that's a complete ***** to keep cool, especially here in GA. It's just the two of us. We move out on the 10th, and hopefully close on our house by the 24th.

How about choo?

When looking for another apartment on section 8, will section 8 pay for a hotel until an apartment is found?

Section 8 is a federally funded program administered by HUD and run by individual state Public Housing Agencies (PHA), sometimes known as a "Housing Authority." The “tenant based” section 8 program, commonly known as the Housing Choice Voucher Program, pays a landlord with a privately owned residential unit some or all of a tenants’ RENT.The amount of rent that the federal government will pay under the federal housing Choice voucher program (Section8) is predetermined per geographic area on a annual basis. The government has established FMR (Fair Market Rent) values for each county in the country. These FMR values, broken down by bedroom size, reflect the maximum amount of rent payable to landlords that participate in section 8 program. These values are calculated assuming landlord will pay all utilities for rentable unit. If utilities are not included in rental price, the estimated cost of each nonincluded utility is deducted from the maximum allowable rental price (depending on average costs of utilities in a given area). In a Nut shell a PHA participating in the Section 8 Housing Program is authorized to pay RENT (Studio to 6 BR or higher) to an landlord subject to inspections and submitted documentation from tenant and landlord. The budget submitted by a PHA under Section 8 does NOT allocate funds to pay for Broker fees, Security deposits, moving expenses OR temporary housing needs such as a Hotel or Motel. If landlord agreed to pay for utilities this expeniditure is usually absorbed in voucher size amount. The good news is there are state run organizations such as DSS & charities such as Family Service League that are designed and budgeted to deal with temporary housing needs. To find a charity or government orgaization to help you NOW while you wait for section 8 to kick in you can go to:Find Charity

Will section 8 pay utilities if they aren’t included in your lease (“tenant pays all utilities”)?

Section 8 will not pay utilities in this situation. But they will usually lower your portion of the rent payment. If utilities are not included in your lease, in some states food stamps will grant a standard utility allowance. This can increase food stamps by $0 - $200 per month. Most housing authorities will also grant a utility allowance. This can lower the amount of rent you pay, usually around $100-200 month. All areas have Liheap utility assistance. You can apply twice a year - summer and winter. Usually around $50/month.In california, if you have health needs for higher or lower temperature the utility company will lower your bill.In some areas, utility companies have additional programs that will lower bills for people who are low income. there are a few other things that can lower or change your rent and utility payments: How to Calculate Rent in HUD and Section 8

Is it possible to save money, making around $120K ~ $130K in the US in Sunnyvale, California as a software engineer?

He’s not lying. You need to make $100,000 just to live decently. Not great. Just decent.I live in San Jose (less than 10 miles from Sunnyvale). The median house value in San Jose is $1.2 Million and this is what that kinda money gets you:A very modest one story house less than 1,700 square feet.https://www.redfin.com/CA/San-Jo...In San Francisco, it’s even worse:$1.2 Million for 1,275 square feet!https://www.redfin.com/CA/San-Fr...For those that don’t make six figures, you have to room with 3–4 other people just to afford an average house.Look at places like East Side San Jose. The amount of single family households with 2 to 3 and sometimes even 4 or 5 families living in one house is staggering! It’s the only way families (predominantly Latino) who are landscaping/construction/labor workers can afford to live in the Silicon Valley.Drive down any street in any neighborhood in East San Jose and you’ll notice something peculiar not found in any other suburb - no parking. When you have multiple families living under the same roof, you get 3–5 cars per house. There are cars taking up every single spot along the sidewalk and people have to get creative and park cars on their lawn. It’s so bad, that people put out cones to block off parking so neighbors don’t park in their driveway!Don’t believe me? Here’s some pics I took while I was around East Side San Jose a couple weeks ago. And I must reemphasize, this is the norm in East Side San Jose, not the exception:

How can i prepare myself to move out of my parent's house?

well, i am 21 now and i think it'd be a little easier if i didn't live at home. i pay for everything myself anyway, just not rent and my cellphone. well i don't make much.. $10.50/hour, working no less than 36 hours a week. i did just buy a new car for my bday a few months ago. i'm paying $300/month. basically, i spend about $550-600 a month paying for my credit card, my car, and just doing things with friends on the weekends. i live in NEBRASKA right now. apparently the cost of living here isn't as high as many other states, but i know i'll probably struggle. just wondering if this is the right decision. i haven't quite looked into moving out yet because i had so many questions. can anybody give me a little bit of advice before i make a decision? i don't plan on going back to school, and i probably won't work at my current job for the rest of my life, considering i'm a hostess. i'll more than likely get a roommate since living on my OWN right now will probably be impossible. i don't want to end up running back home to mommy and daddy in the next year. anyway, my detailing was probably a bit vague, but if you could just give me a slight bit of advice and what you did and how much you had saved up before moving out, that would be great. oh and about how much you spend a month on bills. i'm sure i'll be throwing away over $1000 a month once i move out. zzz

Out of their total income, X spends 20% on house rent and 70% of the remaining amount on household expenditures. If X saves $1,800 what is their total income?

Let's assume income of X to be 100.If X spends 20% on house rent, he will be left with 100*.8 = 80Now out of 80 he spends 70%, so now he is left with 80*.3 = 24Here 24 represents saved income of $1800 , then 100% represents 1800*100/24=7500.So the total income is 7500.
