Atheists Is This Correct

Are Atheists correct?

Glenn123. study some philosophy of religion for goodness sake. And are you really saying correctness is subjective? Then your entire view itself is subjective, including agnosticism. Truth is not subjective. That's nonsense. The proposition "God exists" is either true or false. There is a correct answer.

There are ARGUMENTS to be given on each side of the debate. What differentiates a good atheist/theist from a bad one is their ability to give philosophical arguments for their position.

From my observation, at least on this website, there are SO many bad atheist AND theists because nobody argues for anything. They just insult the other side. Yahoo Answers is not a true reflection of the real philosophical debate for/against the existence of a God or gods, as is found in philosophy of religion.

So in my opinion, the atheists conclusion that God [at least the Abrahamic God] does not exist is correct, however, the majority of the atheists who actually hold this conclusion come to it invalidly. They read a crappy New Atheist book, like The God Delusion and become convinced. They never really engage in real philosophy. This is why the majority of atheists who do not believe in God, although they are correct in my opinion, come to this conclusion for very wrong reasons.

Atheist are correct!!how do feel?!?!?!?

Can't say that I do, but to each his own. You don't play in my yard and I woun't play in yours.

If atheists are correct and there is no God then what was the reason the Bible was written?

The original purpose for religion was what science is today. A way to explain the universe. Unlike science, religion tried to do this without any evidence, so the concept of gods and mythical beings were created in order to explain the mysteries of the universe. Unfortunately, this ended up being similar to the ‘the wizard did it’ trope in literature. As time went on, however, the human condition came to shine as the religions of the world became more hierarchical. This is most prominent in Christianity. Over time - particularly the Middle Ages - the Clergy grew increasingly greedy, creating systems such as indulgences to keep the people in line, whilst fattening their pockets. In this case, Hell was used as a scare tactic to further keep the people in line.To sum it up, religion was originally used to explain the beginnings of the universe, but was later used as a system of fear and oppression to keep the masses in check.Hope this helps.

Is Atheism more politically correct?

I have no idea, nor do I care. That’s like asking if Christianity, Islam, or Judaism is “politically correct.”All I can tell you is that atheists claim not to believe in a god or gods. We don’t care if such a lack of belief is politically correct or not, if a lack of a belief in something can be said to be “correct,” politically or otherwise. My intuition tells me that the political correctness of atheism would greatly depend on what group you’re in. I imagine atheism would not be politically correct in a fundamentalist church of any denomination, Christian, Muslim, or Jewish. However, Reform, Reconstructionist, and, to a lesser extent, Conservative Judaism, are pretty accepting when it comes to atheism, since Judaism is more a religion of right behavior and law, rather than belief. Some sects of Buddhism are inherently atheistic, as it is more of a philosophy than a religion.

Can you think of a way both theists & atheists can be correct--that God both absolutely does & doesn't exist at the same time? That God's 'existence' is determined by (and legitimately created within) the observer, not in what is externally observed?

“That God's 'existence' is determined by (and legitimately created within) the observer, not in what is externally observed.”That in itself is an atheist belief, so although that’s what I believe in, I don’t think theists would agree. Everyone lives in a world of their own (theory of mind) and no two human beings share the exact same space. Even though two truths between two different people might contradict each other, both are right in each person’s own mind, and the only truth that matters is the one you believe in.That’s why everyone should just live and let live. But I think if you ask most practicing people of any religion, they believe in one world that we all share. Given that, I suppose it’s understandable why they might feel frustrated when others appear to be “ignoring” the truth. For me, because I believe that your personal truth is paramount, and no one reality outweighs the other, the existence of a higher power doesn’t matter until you believe in the existence of a higher power. I’m not particularly good at structuring this kind of philosophical thought, so I hope you do get some answer out of this response despite the disorganisation. In summary, atheists tend to believe that there are multiple truths, while theists believe that there is one truth.

What's the politically correct term for an atheist?

Realists or perhaps Worldy or the Wordly.

I don't like the word "Brights",it emplies everyone else is dim.
