How does one attract the attention of a big AAA game developing company (Bethesda, for example)?
This question reminds of a story that surfaced back in 2014. You may have heard of a teenager who created a Skyrim mod called Falskaar that had a land mass a third the size of the original game's map and added plenty of hours worth of new quests and dialogue to the game as well. He spent over 2000 hours working on this project, completely solo I might add, with the intention to submit it directly to Bethesda as a resume showing that, even though he did not have direct industry experience, his skills were worth recognizing.I had always wondered what happened to him after reading that story for the first time. I did a little research and apparently it does have a happy ending.While he did not end up attracting the attention of Bethesda (apparently they didn't even send him a rejection letter, not a peep was heard from the company) he did land a job at Bungie months later. Of course, it's hard to say if he's still with the company, given the high turnover rate of novice developers in the game industry (this was 2014 remember). Regardless it's still mighty impressive and an inspiring story of success.Game companies usually want to see that you've shipped at least one title in your career before hiring you on, but this story goes to show that hard work, creativity, perseverance and a bit of ballsiness will go a long way. What a way to take initiative and force open the doors of opportunity rather than waiting for the opportune time to slip your foot in. How can I gain the attention of companies that make games (Blizzard, EA, …) to hire me?
EA is not a company that “makes” games - they are a publishing powerhouse who buy different studios and then finance the games that these studios make.Here are the common ways how people landed jobs with game making studios, including Blizzard and Valve:Send them your artistic/3D modelling portfolio (if you are an artist/3D modeller).Make a mod that includes coding and/or scripting, and make it popular by sharing it for free with the community; then, contact the company and write “Hello, I am the author of the mod XYZ for your game ABC, and I would love to get a job in game development. Are you hiring?”Build an awesome multiplayer map for a multiplayer game and have it place really high on popularity ladders.If you are looking for a more “core” job (programmer, database ninja etc.), you will need to apply via official application calls - many of these companies list “We are hiring” offers on their websites.But before you do that, please be aware that game development is a very unsecure job. Give a serious consideration to whether making 100K one year and then not having any work for 2 years is acceptable for you, as that is a common experience.
Which game developer is better Rockstar Games or Naughty Dog?
Dude for all of you who never heard of Naughty Dog you guys are not true gamers. They made awesome games like the original Crash Bandicoot, Jak and Daxter, Uncharted, The Last of Us and much more great games. I love Naughty Dog so much I played a lot of their games in my child hood years. Now in my teenage years I played a lot of Rockstar games like Red Dead Revolver, Bully, and GTA. They are both my favorite companies for video games. Sorry I can not answer your question because these companies are both amazing in my heart and neither of them are better then each other. They both make amazing games and that's why these two companies are my all time favorite. I hope a lot of you guys agree with me that these two are the best at making games.

Should I drop out of school to become a video game developer?
I want to become a game developer. To do that I need to learn how to code and start creating mods as a start. This stuff requires quite a bit of time, so I'd like to drop out of HS and give it my full attention. I'd also like to start working in the meantime and maybe get a GED aswel. I've done a bit of research and many people have succeeded doing the same thing. I'm definitely considering it, but I want as much advice and information as possible before I just do it. Please help!
