Baby Medical Question Its An Emergency Help

Serious medical question to ask, emergency, doctors/students on here or better yet ob/gyn if possible?HELP!!?

I don't understand why you feel you didn't get the medical treatment as quickly as you should have. You were date raped and waited 18 weeks before deciding to have an abortion, why wait so long? You have to have known long before that time that you were pregnant. Why when you went to the hospital the night you were raped didn't you get a pill to prevent the pregnancy? You are mad because after 18 weeks you decide to abort and you think the Docs should do something right NOW, what about 18 weeks ago? The Docs would have done something a lot sooner but you waited so long and the Docs nor I can figure out why. Most women who are raped want something done ASAP, I know, I was raped and I would not have waited 18 weeks before getting something done about it. Now you are angry at them because they don't jump when you say jump. They would have gladly done something 18 weeks ago if you had let them or told them you wanted to abort but you chose to wait so why are you blaming the Docs when something could have been done 18 weeks ago.It just doesn't make sense to wait so long before getting the abortion.

Emergency Situations: How can I best help my friend whose baby got hurt?

She absolutely needs to get atleast a basic medical screening.  There is alot which can be figured out just by doing a basic medical screening.  A medical provider should check her vital signs, check for any specific point tenderness where there may be injuries, and an ultrasound should be done to look for internal bleeding. Now onto her head...  By checking to see that her pupils respond appropriately (pupils are the same size while resting and both pupils constrict independently when a bright light is flashed over each individual eye) she can know whether there is a risk for traumatic brain injury.  If the pupils are different sizes at rest or the pupils respond differently to a bright light this is very concerning and she must seek medical attention.  Traumatic brain injuries need to be dealt with immediately.  With these basic assessments she can begin to know whether her injuries are life threating or she is just bruised (to her body) and just has a concussion as opposed to bleeding inside of her brain or has bleeding around the outside of her brain. Pupil response is one of the best ways to affordably assess whether it requires further investigation.Otherwise the signs for a concussion (the brain hit the side of the skull without traumatic bleeding) are headache, sleepiness, irritability, confusion, difficulty with balance and possibly difficulty sleeping (difficulty sleeping is a long term post concussive symptom).  I know it sounds confusing talking about sleepiness and then inability to sleep.  The symptoms have to do with different stages of recovery from a concussion.  Ibuprofen should be effective for pain management once traumatic brain injury is ruled out.I am a nurse, this is my personal opinion and I deny responsibility for long term injury related to my answer or how this situation may play out over the long term.

EMERGENCY question about a Raccoon, PLEASE HELP?

My friend at the office found a little baby raccoon yesterday near the road, it was very healthy and quite docile as well and so we took it into the office and put it inside a box and kept an eye on it for the afternoon. My friend bought some regular cow milk (3.25%) from the store and fed the raccoon with a bottle. It seemed quite healthy and happy yesterday

Today my friend brought it home and told me that the raccoon is having convulsions. Now before you scream ''rabies'' please keep in mind the little thing is not foaming at the mouth nor is it irritable , but its convulsing. I sugested it could be due to constipation from the milk.

We bought baby milk, as reccommended by my local pet shop, but so far things dont seem to get any better

If someone would have ANY advice (other than ''kill the thing'' of course) it would be immensely helpful as the poor thing is currently in pain
Many thanks

If I am out alone with my children and have a medical emergency, what happens with my children?

I was 12-years old and my mom was pregnant with my youngest sister. My mom has constant issues with low blood sugar. It was a hot, summer day and we were driving down the highway. I was in the passenger seat, my 10 and 15 year old brothers were in the back. As always we were teasing my mom about her HUGE belly stuffed into the maternity overalls that the LOVED. They were denim shorts with yellow and white flowers on the hems. She said they were comfortable but to us she looked like humpty-dumpty in overalls. My mom stopped talking mid-sentence and got a strange look on her face. Her eyes then rolled back. The car started to drift to the right onto the shoulder. We hit the guardrail. I immediately grabbed the shifter and threw the car into Park. As I turned on the hazards, my older brother got out of the car waving his hands in the air screaming “Help!” at the top of his lungs. An elderly lady saw him from a distance and pulled over. I'm still in the passenger seat just talking to my mom and calmly telling her to wake up.Like a bolt of lightning hit her, her eyes shot open as the lady approached her. My mom yelled at my oldest brother to get back in the car. I laughed and told the woman that we would all be fine and that my mom's blood sugar was low. She gave my mom a bottle of orange juice, sat with us until my mom felt well, then followed us to the ER so my baby sister could be checked on in-utero.All I can say is if you are aware of conditions that could cause a medical emergency, make sure your children know what to do! Your children (not babies or toddlers) should be able to answer basic questions about you in the case that you can't. This could be what determines life and death for any of you. With my mom being a RN, she always made sure we knew what to do in most medical emergencies. We knew when to utilize resources such as AMT or police and when not to.Train your kids up!

Who should you call for medical questions late at night?

If my little boy gets hurt in the middle of the night, who do I call to find out if it's an emergency room-worthy injury or to get advice on what to do? When I looked up the hospital closest to us, they had one phone number listed and when I called that number, I got a pre-recorded message telling me their business hours and to call 911 if I had a medical emergency. What if it's not something that you would call 911 for, but you still need advice? Is there an 800 number, or some kind of service that's available 24/7?

Should it be illegal for parents to refuse medical help for religious purposes? If their child dies, would it be considered murder?

These parents allegedly neglected their child to the point at which the poor baby died. The photo of the little one shows a malnourished and dehydrated baby - huge eyes in a wizened face and a sunken fontanelleI am uncertain whether they refused medical help or did not seek it. Had they refused help in the UK, the hospital would obtain a court order for the protection of the child. They were obviously aware that their beliefs put their children at risk as they feared having them removed by social services.Murder is an intentional act; they probably did not intend that their child should die.Certainly, they must at the very least be charged with child neglect and perhaps even manslaughter

I need some major help answering these questions. Please help?

Mrs. Carlyle is Pregnant for the first time. Her blood type is Rh negative, her husband is Rh positive, and her first child has been determined to be Rh positive. Ordinarily, the first of such pregnancy causes no major problems but baby Carlyle is born cyanotic.

Neither Mr. nor Mrs. Carlyle has a history of hematological problems, and there is no family history of such problems. In 1999, Mrs. Carlyle was injured in a car accident, with a laceration of the liver. By the time she arrived at the emergency room she had lost a significant amount of blood and an emergency transfusion was performed.

1.- What is the baby’s condition? Is it a result of Rh incompatibility? How is it called?

2.- Why is the baby cyanotic?

3.- Since this is Mrs. Carlyle’s first pregnancy, how can you account for the baby’s problem?

4.- Assume that baby Carlyle was born pink and healthy. What measures should be taken to prevent the previously described situation from happening in the second pregnancy with an Rh positive baby?

5.- Mrs. Carlyle’s sister has had two miscarriages before seeking medical help with her third pregnancy. Blood typing shows that she, like her sister, is Rh negative; her husband is Rh positive. What course of treatment will be followed?

Husbands in air force basic, emergency leave?

Hello Meghan,

The proper procedure for such medical emergencies is to contact the American Red Cross.
24/7
Their people are on call to respond and "verify" the emergency and they contact his Commander at Lackland AFB.

Now, what you need to do is make sure you have all your husband's AF information.
Name Rank (Airman Basic) his Social Security Number. His Squadron he is assigned to, if possible, and his mailing address.

The AF bases maintain a master base locator roster and anybody can be found.

Also, take this information with you to the hospital. When you go to the hospital next for a check up you should ask the "hospital affairs people" to bring the Red Cross worker to see you and talk with them about the procedures - just in case.

But, in the meantime, you must follow the doctor's orders and not do things you should not do.
Do you have a parent or family member who can come to live with you while he is in basic training.

Remember, if all goes well and your baby is born, unless it's a medical emergency he won't be able to come home on leave.

And, he would go to his technical school base in Texas, Mississippi, or California (if he is going to do missiles) for maybe 4 - 6 months more.

Get some family member to come live with you.

Best wishes,
