Back Boiler For Ground Floor Flat

Why would my lower back arch and not lie flat when doing a leg lift close to the ground?

As the feet get closer to the floor, the weight of the legs is acting more and more strongly on the pelvis. That is, the weight of the legs is pulling the front of the pelvis towards the feet, which arches the lower back off the floor.(Notice the space between her back and the floor as the legs get closer to the ground.)Certain muscles need to counteract this pull. The external obliques being a big one.We can see this muscle connects down to the front of the pelvis. Thus, when it contracts, it pulls the ribs and front of the pelvis closer together- it flattens the lower back by pulling the front of the pelvis up.In more common terminology, we are trying to prevent an anterior pelvic tilt during the leg raise by using the external obliques, a muscle which posteriorly tilts the pelvis.Anterior = front of pelvis goes down; Posterior = front of pelvis goes up.So one way to eliminate this is simply think about using the external obliques / abdominals more.Of course, I never say to a client “use your external obliques!” I tell them “pull your stomach in” or “pull your stomach towards the floor” or “don’t let your lower back come off the ground.”That said, some will need to build up to this. They may need to do a really low level version first e.g.Finally, the person may want to be much more aware of their daily life and exercise routine. If the person is engaging in a lot of behavior which encourages anterior pelvic tilt, that could be worth changing to make the tilting less likely in something like the leg raise exercise. In other words, the lower back coming off the ground could be caused by habit, lack of attention to using something like the external obliques, as well as true weakness of the external obliques. (A tight psoas could also be a factor here, though in my experience that’s nowhere near as common as many think.)3 common weak muscles8 Weeks Towards Correcting Your Anterior Pelvic Tilt

Why does sleeping on the floor make my lower back sore?

Why does sleeping on the floor make my lower back sore?I remember as a child being able to sleep on the floor in any position and feeling fine when I woke up. As I got older, it became more and more uncomfortable and feeling stiff as I woke up. I think part of the reason is because we get heavier as we get older, so there’s more weight to distribute along the body. These are the pressure points of the body in various sleeping positions. The weight of the entire body getting distributed to various areas that actually contact the sleeping surface, causing pressure to be focused in those areas. The sacrum is one such spot, and this is likely the culprit when it comes to low back pain. The purpose of a mattress is to absorb some the pressure at these points and distribute it throughout a larger area (of the mattress).Another reason that I find sleeping on my back with my legs straight, uncomfortable, is that it distorts the curve of my lower back. This makes the low back tight, and causes pain in the morning after being relatively still for a long time. (See the upper figure in the picture below). In the lower figure, notice that the spine is supported in a position that allow the natural curves of the back and neck to be maintained during sleep. The support that I find the most helpful is the one under the knees. I actually find support under the lower back to be unhelpful. The knee riser helps to tilt the pelvis and stretch the lower back out so that it’s not so tight when I wake up.Good luck and happy sleeping.

How bad is it to live in an apartment on ground floor?

I've had two ground floor apartments, one in Brooklyn and one in San Francisco. I had them mostly because they were less expensive than alternatives. There are a number of disadvantages to ground floor apartments. Security. If anyone is going to break in, it is likely they will start with the ground floor. I was lucky. No break-ins.Noise. Both of my apartments were very noisy. Now, come to think of it, both were next to bus stops. Each time the bus came and went, you had to stop talking, listening, whatever required hearing.Dirty. Ground floor living is much more dusty, dirty, allergic. Since we enter on the first floor, all the dust, pollen, ambient dirt flies in when you open the door. In addition, you track it in on your shoes from the street. Not good.Smelly. All the ambient street smells, cars, buses, restaurants, smokers, all seem worse on the first floor. When you open the windows, there you are, with everything right there, next to you.Litter. First floor entrances are subject to much more litter, as it collects where the wind blows it, near alcove entrances on the first floor.

Solar power for hot water use, worth installing?

I have radiant heat throughout my whole house. My whole house is run off propane gas by a wall hung gas boiler. The amount that I am spending in gas per year is about $2200. I live in Maine where winters can be long and cold. My house has great exposure to the sun from sunrise to sunset. It just seems to make sense to have a solar system installed to run my hot water and my heat and have the gas as a back up. I know the cost is somewhere around $5,000 for a system. My question on here is does anyone have a solar system like I am describing and if so what are the pros and cons associated with it?

How do German people heat up their houses in winter?

Central air heating is pretty much unknown in Germany. As to what is used - depends on the age of the building, or rather its last renovation, since under current law any major renovation also requires an upgrade of the thermal efficiency of the house to current standards.

What I know of:
- Wood stoves in each room (my sister lives in such a house, although she uses electricity now to heat up the water for the shower)
- oil stoves in each room, either with central oil supply or locally through a can
- central heating (i.e. one burner for the whole house or flat), using
- oil (from a tank in the basement)
- gas, either from a pipeline to the house or an outdoor tank
- wood, either as logs, chips or pellets, in either case with mostly automated feed
- district heating with a heat exchanger in the basement
- power-heat-cogeneration (usually for apartment blocks or a small neighbourhood)
- ground or water based heat pumps (air based heat pumps are known, but uncommon)
- heat distribution through either water-filled radiators in each room or water pipes laid inside the floor (water pipes in the wall are possible, too, but pretty uncommon)
- no dedicated heating (Passivhaus, Zero energy house, plus energy house), but usually in this case central air supply with a waste air heat exchanger and electric hot water boilers.

We are using a ground-based heat pump for a ~100 m^2 house, and I pay ~600 Euros per year for the electricity to run the heat pump (and again about the same for electricity for everything else, there are seperate meters for the heat pump and the rest of the house).

On what surface can a microwave oven be placed?

Depending on the size and weight of the microwave oven, first, find a location that is not near your TV or heater vent. Then, choose a surface that will be dry, stable, able to support the microwave oven’s weight and near a grounded (3-prong) electrical outlet. Also, make sure you leave enough space on the sides and back of the oven to allow air to flow from the oven’s vents. Do not place the oven in a very tight space where there will be no air flow.I recommend that once you have placed the oven on the surface, that you test the oven (30–45 seconds) to make sure the surface can support the oven when it’s operating and that the oven and surface is not moving, wiggling or vibrating when turned on. Any surface like granite, formica or thick wood should work. Avoid plastic or thin wood surfaces as these may melt or catch fire due to the oven getting hot when used for a long period of time.
