Backing Up/restoring Iphone

Does restoring an iPhone delete everything on it?

Possibly. When restoring an iPhone you have the option to restore from a backup or you can restore to factory defaults. If you restore to factory defaults then yes, everything will be gone. This is often helpful though if you are having some MAJOR software issues. If you restore to a backup then it will restore to the exact same way your phone was at the time of that backup. So if you haven’t backed up for a while you may still lose some things depending on what you’ve done/saved/added between then and now.So, as always, it is important to backup frequently. I’d recommend backing up nightly to iCloud and weekly to a computer. Some may say the computer is unnecessary but for me restoring from a computer backup is SO much cleaner. A Restore from computer loads EVERYTHING back on your phone. A restore from iCloud restores settings and app info and then very slowly redownloads all of your apps from the App Store. This, in my experience, often causes stuck and paused downloads.

I tried to restore the iPhone after backing up but it says "iTunes could not restore the iPhone "____'siPhone" because the password was incorrect. I tried password of both the computer and my Apple ID but it doesn't work. What can I do?

The password it is looking for is not your computer password or Apple ID. It is the password you entered into iTunes when the encrypted backup was made.If on a Mac, you can attempt to find this password using the Keychain Access application. Open it and search for “iPhone Backup”. Double click on the appropriate entry, then check the “Show Password” option at the bottom. You’ll need to enter your system/computer password to proceed. If you’ve been able to get this far, this should be your backup’s password.

Iphone restore from backup taking forever, no time remaining estimate, help!?

I tried updating the software on my iPhone today, and after it backed up (successfully I think), it said it couldn't restore. There is no progress bar and there is no estimated time remaining. What can I do?

IPhone 5s help with restoring and vertical lines!!! oh goodness gracious please help!!!?

whoever answers this I thank you indefinitely!!! I dropped my phone a few days ago and vertical lines appeared on the right side of the screen and that side is not responsive. the other side is, but not the right side.

a number that is in my password is on the right side meaning I cannot log onto my phone, I took it to the apple store but it would be $270 to repair it and that is almost the price I paid for the phone so I am not doing that, instead I looked up a method on youtube where you do it yourself so I am doing that.

however, does this reset all the data on your iPhone?
it involves taking the iPhone screen off and unscrewing some things and disconnecting and reconnecting the touch id.

so i plugged my phone into my computer to back up my data on iTunes would that back up all of my data or only songs?
i would prefer to keep my pics, notes, contacts, apps etc but im not sure what iTunes backs up.
also, when i try to restore it on iTunes it says i need to turn off "Find My IPhone" but i simply cannot log onto my phone.
plus, i tried backing up my phone the same way and it says i have to log onto my phone but again, i cant.

is there any way that i can work around this?
and if you can, please answer my questions about what it will back up. thanks guys i REALLY appreciate it.

Thank you so much, Alex.

Why my phone taking so long to restore WhatsApp message back up?

There are tons of reasons this is happening. You’re using mobile data and currently your connection isn’t the best so data takes longer to be sent and received. You’re using Wifi and you’re distant from your router, so it takes data longer to be sent and received. You simply have a slow connection speed. The WhatsApp servers may be bogged down with traffic at the momentYour back up may contain lots of multimedia and/or chat messages meaning the file is much largerOr a slew of other things…My simple advice is to check your connection and signal strength. If possible, take your device off power saving mode (or similar) and close any programs utilizing data. Though seeing as you asked this question Monday and it’s now Tuesday, I’m sure by now you’ve received your back up and you’re likely up and running.
