Bad Diarrhoea For 3-4 Days Should I See A Doctor

How do I deal with diarrhea?

It depends on what kind of diarrhea.Watery diarrhea, is usually self limiting. They are usually responses to bacterial toxins (and not infection) which causes your intestinal cells to secrete massive amounts of fluid. The recommended treatment for this is oral rehydration solution (NOT PLAIN WATER!) which consists of water, salt, and glucose. The reason you add glucose is that this helps your body absorb sodium, and thus water a little better. Gatorade, for example, is a weak oral rehydration solution (the medical ones are a little stronger).Bloody diarrhea is more complicated. This will depend on the etiology of the disease. Common causes include E. coli, Shigella, and Campylobacter bacteria and may also co-present with constitutional symptoms such as headache, weakness, cramps, nausea, and vomiting. Again, treatment is usually supportive, however, complications can develop such as hemolytic uremic syndrome or typhoid fever. Though people can recover spontaneously from these complications, it's recommended to seek medical treatment since HUS can progress to acute renal failure. Another common cause of bloody diarrhea, especially in this hospital and elderly population is C. diff enterocolitis. This needs to be treated medically with antibiotics, and diagnosed with stool PCR assays. Fatty/foul-smelling diarrhea is usually indicative of a parasitic infection (e.g. Giardia). It's self-limiting in some cases, but anti-parasitics (e.g. metronidazole) can help.Diarrhea in children, especially in infants, can indicate some sort of malabsorption problem. This can be due to a genetic defect in intestinal transporters, or could be part of a more generalized developmental problem. Recurrent diarrhea in kids should be grounds for consultation with a pediatrician. These cases are usually managed with dietary restrictions and/or supplementation. This is not a comprehensive list, but does illustrate the diarrhea is quite a non-specific symptom of many etiologies. Usually, diarrhea is self-limiting and requires no further treatment, but sometimes, it does warrant additional medical attention.

I have diarrhea 3-4 times a day?

Well, if money is an issue, you can first try what I'm about to suggest. However, if it doesn't work there could be something very wrong and you must get it checked. It's either pay for medical bills or pay for a hospital stay and treatments or even worse, a funeral. Your gastrointestinal track is nothing to mess around with. Even though you could just have a serious case of IBS (irritable bowel syndrome), it could also be something more serious. My first thought when reading this was IBS, which can be set off by various foods. I know for my dad, avoiding greasy/fatty foods and adding more veggies and whole grains to his diet helped TREMENDOUSLY where he literally quit having diarrhea. My second thought is lactose intolerance. If you are lactose intolerant, that could be causing your diarrhea. I would keep a food diary for a few weeks. Take note of when you have bowel movements (and what the consistency is) and what you ate for a week. Then for another week or so, eliminate dairy and keep the same diary. If your diarrhea goes away, you may have found your problem! If it doesn't, try avoiding spicy/greasy/fatty foods for the next week or two and add more whole grains and veggies and see how that helps. And if none of that works, you will at least have a chance of tracking what foods may be triggering it more and try to eliminate them. You could have something as simple as an allergy or it could be worse like a disease or cancer. If you can't find the cure on your own, it's really important you see a doctor. I'll say a prayer for your health and finances. God is a good provider. This I know. =) God bless!

I'm 37 weeks pregnant and am having diarrhea for 3 days now.?

I woke up one day and felt fine. Went out for lunch and as soon as I finished lunch I had severe stomach ache and could not get off the toilet. Every time I tried to walk back to the table I had to jump up and go again. I did this for about two hours straight. Finally tried to make it home where I could be more comfortable. This lasted for the rest of the day. My stomach was upset but there was nothing to let out. Finally the next day came. I had diarrhea in the morning and that was it. The whole rest of the day nothing happened. Last night now my stomach was making very loud sounds like I was going to have diarrhea again. Then I woke up this morning with very very lose stools. What could be causing this? I have an apt. with my doctor tomorrow but I'm thinking I should give him a call today to let him know whats going on. Anybody have this same type of experience at almost two weeks before due date? I hope the baby is okay.

I just pooped and had bloody diarrhea what does it mean?

It means you need to go to the doctors and get it checked out.

My dad past away this past January from bleeding from the rectum.

Two months later my mom started bleeding from the rectum. It was not much, but what we went thru with my dad, she got it checked out and it was stage one cancer. (The same cancer that Farah Faucet died from)

So go to the doctors and get it checked out.

Good Luck

Red diarrhea, scared?

Okay so I have had diarrhea for the past 3-4 days, not bad diarrhea just 1-2 times a day. But this morning when I had it, I looked down in the toilet and the diarrhea was red. Kind of like red velvet cake (I no this is really gross, but please help). It wasn't coated in blood, it seemed to be made of like red fiber or something, and it was entirely that light red color. This is really embarrassing and I don't want to have to tell my parents but I'm scared and I think I might need to go to a doctor. When I looked on line it came up with all sorts of things saying I might have cancer and I will need a rectal exam (ewww). I ate hot cheetos the night before though, coil that have made it red? To make it worse, I'm on my period, and I don't want a doctor anywhere near me like this. The diarrhea hasn't even been bad o frequent, just a slight burning sensation during it, I don't think it could cause a hemorrhoid or anything.

What do I do??!

Please help, what do I do???
