Bad University Experience

Good Experience with Kaplan University?

If you are intending to take a full course-load then i wouldn't count on getting much if any of a refund from a school like Kaplan. Even though you will be eligible for grant money ($5550 in a pell grant) all that will be used towards tuition. You can make the choice to take out loans ($9500 for your first year if you are independent) and in which case you may get a refund after the majority is used towards tuition. This money will be LOAN money though, meaning it WILL need to be paid back.

Online schools are an absolute rip-off. They cost twice as much as tuition at a public in-state university and six times as much as a community college. On top of that, degrees from these schools are not widely recognized by employers and NO legitimate university will allow you to enroll in a masters program w a online bachelors degree.

Look into the universities in your area and PLEASE consider taking classes in person on their campus. It will be cheaper, the classes will be higher quality, and your degree will be more widely recognized.

Do bad university experiences signal the end of my life?

Do bad university experiences signal the end of my life? Not at all.If Universities had the total secret of happiness, wealth and success, they would charge much much more than they do.If you can learn by your experiences, and understand that bad things can educate you as much as good things, then your future life can be as successful as anyone else's.

Whats so bad about University of Phoenix?

I received my Associates degree from University of Phoenix. All of my courses were taken online. I heard many people say that the degree was worthless and its looked down upon.....What is the big fuss? I worked my **** off to get good grades and probably even had to work harder than many people attending a brick and mortar school. I earned my degree in Business and I was hired for a Supervisory position at my place of employment. With my Associates right now I'm making $15.60 an hour. I was also just accepted to Syracuse University and Penn State and I'm trying to decide which school to go to?! It can't be that bad. Just wondering why people talk so horrible about U of P...I had a good experience with it..Also, 40 of my credits transferred to Syracuse University!

Any bad experiences from pet stores?

Hey everyone,

I'm a university student trying to write a research paper on an upcoming Animal Rights code for Queensland, Australia. This code is supposed to make stricter rules for pet stores and the way they treat/care for their animals.

So what I'm basically asking is, does anyone have any bad experiences from pet stores?

One lady I was talking to, was sold a dog that was said to be a Golden Retriever but then, learned that it was not a golden retriever but it was a different breed altogether.

*It would be especially helpful to have locations attached to experiences. (i.e. Brisbane, Australia)

Thanks!

What was your worst college/university experience as a student?

I almost have to graduate one year late.To graduate as a Bachelor I needed to pass 144 credits. I had accumulated 130 credits by the end of my 7th term, I needed only 14 credits to graduate, 3 of which belonged to a mandatory course I failed to pass a year before. And in my supposed to be last term in college, the lecturer for that mandatory course gave me an E.I really had tried my best to contribute for the final project, which weighed 40% of the total mark. I initiated group meetings, I lead discussions, I gathered the required resources, I processed the research data... and me and a friend, who also worked hard for that assignment, got 0 for that final project, while the rest of the team got 88 each. This made me (and my friend) guaranteed to fail the class, as the minimum passing grade was set at 5 points higher than the university's standard, at 60% total marks. At first I thought there was a mistake, that our academic data hadn't been processed yet so it would appear E for us. Then I started panicking when my friends told me that they got 88 for the final project. It was at 11 PM, one hour before the university's academic data submission deadline, a point from which no alteration can be made to the academic records on the system.I communicated my issue to an assistant lecturer for that class. Turned out the reason for my final project dismissal was failure to meet the minimum attendance requirement of 75%. She told me that my attendance record was 69%, meaning that I would have passed if I attended two more sessions in that course. The scary part was, this particular mandatory course was only available on even semesters, I had to take (and pass) it the next year. What's the consequence? Delayed graduation, delayed from getting a job, and having to pay two full semester's tuition. Not to mention having to take the same course again and pass it. Wow.I admit that it was due to my own fault that I skipped class too many times, but I think the consequences were ridiculously unfair. So I communicated my problem to the coordinating lecturer for this course, and he helped me and my friend make our final project marks count. And being a senior lecturer in the uni, he advocated our grades to the university administrations so that we could bypass the regulation and put our revised grades to the system. By doing so, he had also risked his relationship with our class lecturer. I am really grateful for what he did.

How to get over a bad car accident experience?

Hey guys, this might sound weird but in first year university I got hit by another car pretty bad because he was driving too fast and the car that hit my car was completely destroyed and there was quite a lot of damage, but we were both okay, however its been a year since and I still cant seem to drive like I used to. Before I loved driving and would take my parents car every chance that I could get and I was actually good, but now whenever I drive I get so nervous and last time I drove I was fine but when I saw somebody I knew I got super shaky and sweaty and couldn't park that good, Help! How can I get over this, I never thought I would be like this. I also have to get my G license (Highway Test in Canada) so I don't know what to do! Thanks a lot guys :)

Is it possible to have a bad college experience?

Yes, and plenty of people have it. Usually, people will recognize it before their freshman year ends, and they will apply to a different school and transfer there after their second. If you are having a bad experience, it might just be of one person (or one group of people), or one thing about the school you just don’t like. Take time to see if you can fit in. If not, see if you can ignore the problem as much as possible. If you really think it’s bothering you, then transfer away.
