Bangladesh National University Degree 2nd Year Exam Routine

Is it okay to repeat 1st year under Calcutta University?

Yes it is. I have done my BSc from Calcutta University in Physics. In my first year examination, I got around 53% marks. Question was extremely tough that year, half of my classmates failed. Few of them went for Engineering. But most of the others who continued, received ~70% when they repeated their examination. I sometimes now feel sad why I didn’t repeat…Nevertheless, a word of caution - I do have a friend who repeated and received less than what he got previously. The main reason was he got bored of studying the same syllabus and started reading other stuffs from Physics. Now he knows a lot, but got low marks. Calcutta University is pretty unpredictable. So I advice if you do repeat, make sure you spend the year well, studying hard and solving previous year questions.

What extra things should a civil engineering student do in his B. Tech. to improve his chances at a brilliant career in engineering?

1. Internships, as everyone here mentioned, preferably at site would be ideal. Sweat it out and be sincere. General tendency of students is "yaar hafte mein ek baar chale jaayenge.. sab same hi to ho raha h.. sab samaj aa jaayega (We will go once a week... everything is being repeated.. we will understand it all easily) ". This is the biggest mistake that we do. Stay there and go there daily, because you never know what you may encounter. Sometimes even the most minute things like grouting and filling may be something that the company asks you. You would be surprised to know that I have had people at my sites who were new hires and weren't even aware of curing. And their resumes had big internships on them. So even if you make through it once, you may not last. So try staying at site and see what is happening. See it daily, it helps you memorize and visualize the sequence of activities, which will help you when you become project managers.2. Learn AutoCAD atleast, if you are interested to work as a design engineer. Rest is all taught by the companies. StaadPRO is another higher level software used in structural design.3. Try your hands on MS Project first, and then Primavera if you are interested to join the project planning team.4. Know your SFDs and BMDs well. A majority of companies have these standard questions on SFD and BMD, as they all come for recruiting structural designers.Basically, know your basics well and try to mould your interview in the direction that you are confident about. I twisted my interview by LnT from regular SFDs and BMDs to construction management and concrete technology. And finally got selected amongst the top 4 out of 70. All that a company looks for is a confident candidate, in whatever area you are interested, and be true to them. It is easy to crack an interview if you have been on sites and have experienced the stuff, because then it is crystal clear to you and your explanation will say for itself. All the best!

Is is worth studing MBBS from China or any other country?

Well my roommate’s elder sister studied in china and cracked AIPGMEE after one year of her externship. And me and my roommate are here :-| stuck in the pg preparation.Yes as some others have mentioned it's tough staying abroad, language, MCI screening test, one year externship without payment. True. But I guess you asked the a2a afer doing some research and you already know this. I am just going to tell you facts to help you assess risk benefit.ProsYou save at least one year of your life or so many years. If you are not among those selective people who can spend a fortune for private medical colleges then you have to keep preparing for NEET till you crack it. I've seen my friends cracking it in 6th attempt. People talk in their back also. But I respect them for their fighting mentality also because of their ability to come. It does not matter. Who talks what. Ultimately society will see where you have reached, that's the point. If you cannot crack government medical colleges I'll in fact advice you for China as there are very few private medical colleges in India where proper medical teaching is actually employed. In India you might ruin your bucks. In India all MBBS University examination are subjective pattern and you suddenly face objective mcq in AIPGMEE that's the main reason it takes a while for us to get the seat we deserve whereas in China the study is objective. It helps s lot to clear MCI screening as well as AIPGMEE and DNB. So I should say it's a good investment.Wish you luck and all the best

Do MBBS students have to study all the time? I have heard that medical college students have a lot of pressure, they barely complete their sleep.

Its a real misconception that MBBS people have to study all the time.I am a final year exam going student in KMC,Mangalore.I had one of my best days while in MBBS.I go to the gym regularly (Fitness is important!)This is me in final year MBBS.I went to the Netherlands from my college to present a paper recently and ended up going to Paris,Switzerland,Leiden and Germany all in final year.Last month we had a huge party in our college called 'Socials' although it was only 2 days we were planning it since 1 month. These are few pics of SOCIALSAfter this we went to Goa and Munnar too.And Diwali party afer that. Our usual Saturday night preparationsBTW I'm writing this sitting in the library which is underground so I won't be seeing today's sunset. ( Exams are up next week)My 1st 1k upvotes. Thank you :)EDIT 1: Many people are saying that I'm from a rich background so I have all these perks.Yes maybe my college fees is high but the quality of the education that I get is outstanding! Trust me when I say this! And I didn't pay a single penny to get admitted here (Through merit only).Furthermore,to get in here I left AIIMS (7 others),A college in UP (State Quota) and also another one in Maharashtra (NEET-UG) a copy of my Rank card :And I can sponsor my own needs as I run a business in Mangalore (Where my college is)So instead of complaining that people who aren't rich can't afford all the leisures life will give you, there are many opportunities, one should start recognising them.“To be able to sacrifice for what you are for what you'll become" -Eric ThomasAlso, start investing on your health rather than terrorising it with junk food and laziness, trust me it makes a huge difference.

Is MBBS difficult?

No...not difficult my friend...but it's tricky !! ;)Trust me..it is..!!Let me tell you briefly !!Before getting MBBS..we are like:- " ENOUGH WITH PHYSICS..CHEMISTRY..BOTANY...ZOOLOGY..!! Tired of solving endless numericals.. Tired of fillling the weird OMR bubbles !!Disgusted with organic chemistry reactions..and yaa...the famous PLANT KINGDOM in botany where you had pass through the never ending world of trees...like you are navigating AMAZON forest !!"But after you crack your entrance and get into a medical college...you feel you have conquered the world !!But reality comes infront of your eyes when you are studying in a medical college!!Anatomy classes...lectures...dissection..practicals...Biochemistry...it's practical work...So with physiologyRemember the various mnemonics !!Oh god!! In exam hall ..students often forget the mnemonics and sit there wondering what to do next !! ;)And ya..endless class tests..seminars !!In early days..medicos dream of gettingA honours in every subject...But later..they are like.. It's enough to get pass marks!! :DHere every student is meritorious...so you can understand how much you have to study to be the best student !!Study in a regular basis is very important..!! Mind it..!!coz the day you will stop studying the respective day's work...you don't know what blunder you will do..!! (it happened with me...so I know the consequences !! :( )And ya...lastly...study as many writers book as possible...it will help you alot..Not only to frame answers in exams...but will give you immense knowledge that will help you a lot in this vast ocean of medical science..If you have love and concern for the suffering...and interest in studying medicine...nothing is difficult !!Even these will be an awesome feeling for you..Afterall..there is no substitute for hardwork !! :)I think ..now you understood..why I said it's tricky!!Hope it helped !!Stay blessed !! :)
