Basketball Coach Needed

How to become a basketball coach?

At first, don't shoot too high. Build your "resume". Allow yourself to coach at lower levels like junior high kids. As you gain experience, always keep an eye out for job opportunities out there. Don't be afraid to take chances and become a volunteer assistant coach (or what we call in the college level, a graduate assistant). These are unpaid positions, but definitely will get you experience and gets your name out (networking). Always display yourself in the best attitude. The best method is word of mouth.
It took me 10 years of coaching volleyball (I know it isn't basketball but it is still "coaching") before I made it to the level I wanted. I started off playing. I built my resume when I was playing. I kept solid track of my record and abilities. Teams want coaches who can play well or know the game. I coached club ball for 10 years now. I kept my eyes open and when a coaching position came up for the high school level, I applied. It wasn't a power-house school, but an inner-city school with no budget. Even though the job was hell, I stuck with it for the resume purpose. I stayed there for two years or until I obtained my short-term goal of winning districts. At that point, I continued coaching club ball and keeping my eyes open. Finally, a position opened up for the college level. I applied and showed them that I coached 8 years of club (at the time I applied) and 2 years of high school. I'm on my 2nd year of the college level and I reached my short-term goal.
Schools don't tend to hire someone who doesn't have much "coaching" experience. Get some by coaching everywhere you get the chance.
Stick with it and always look forward.

What equipment is needed in basketball?

Okay you got the ball and basket down.

After that, everything else is optional.

- air pump
- towel
- good basketball shoes
- head band, sweat band, shooting sleeves, etc.

That's all I got.

Should I talk to my son's basketball coach?

My son is a sophomore on the varsity team and a very good basketball player. He plays AAU ball during the off season and gets a good amount of time playing during the off season.
During a summer high school league his coach was telling him that he intended to play him a lot this year and now he is getting virtually no time in the varsity game.
He plays almost all of JV and yesterday had a great game. His JV coach even said so as did all the parents in the stands.
Then during yesterday's varsity game EVERYONE except my son played. Even the people who NEVER see playing time were subbed in for the last minute.
My son is upset and yet I don't think he feels he has a good enough relationship with the coach to talk to him about it. It is really ruining his season and even his reasons for going to school
So, do I talk to the coach myself? I hate to step in because I really think that my son needs to deal with it, but maybe it is time.

How do I become a college basketball coach?

You first have to be hired as an GYM instructor. Most will start out on high school level. If they have great winning records, they MAY get hired by colleges.

To be a coach on high school level, you need a degree in physical education. I gave you a link for that.

Then you work your way up the ladder by first being an assistant coach on college level. Most coaches also teach physical education classes too, even at college level.

There isn't much turn-over at the highest coaching levels, because the pay is higher and work load less than a regular college professor, or instructor.

You likely won't qualify to be a full-time coach without 10 yrs or more experience as an assistant coach, and serving the university/college well, first as an regular instructor and assistant coach.

Your road to the top can be shortened, if you are a well-know former player in professional sports, or if your team has has unusual success at regional contests.

If you have worked hard for many losing seasons, hardly anyone would want to hire that person for a top level basketball coach.

It's probably harder to become a top level coach, at the college level, than to become a professional athlete itself, because there are more openings for athletes, than coach.
Sorry, but that's reality.

Is there a certain amount of power needed to shoot a basketball from 3-point range with a two-motion shooting form?

I had the same problem. Here are some tips about the form:To begin the motion brake with you hips first. At the same time dip the ball enough to gain momentum. Than, when you continue with your motion, shoot normally but by jumping forward not to exaggeratedly. Those small tips will give more power to your shoot. Make sure to not push more with your triceps or your wrist and to use your legs. And the only way for you to make them is to practice. It took 3 month of daily shooting to be finally comfortable shooting tree's.Keep trying, it will come.
