That's how it is intended to be - the batwing ends are no different than a square end bow tie- one will always tie up behind the folded end unless you are able to twist the bow tie in the center when tying it so that the batwing ends are both in front. But check old movies and see how batwing bow ties were worn, I think you'll find that only one end gets to be out frnt- unless it's a pre-tied affair.
