Becoming A Pharmacist In Us With Foreign Diploma.

Foreign Pharmacist in Usa?

No one is giving out visas for international pharmacists anymore. There is a surplus of pharmacists in the U.S. For a post-2003 grad, a 5 year degree is required to even start the licensing process. Most internationals won't get licensed. For successful applicants, it'll take 1-2 years.
You'll have to take TOEFL because you are not from an English speaking country and didn't get your education from an English speaking institution.
You'll first have to apply to the NABP for the ability to take the FPGEE. If they accept your application, you'll have to take FPGEE and TOEFL. FPGEE is only offered twice a year through Pearson Vue testing services.
If you pass, then you'll have to apply to your state board of pharmacy for an internship of a set number of hours. After the internship, you'll have to apply for the ability to take NAPLEX/state pharmacy law exam. If you pass those, then you are a licensed pharmacist.

Do i need a degree or diploma to become a pharmacist?

You start by getting a bachelor's degree, usually in something science-related like chemistry or biochemistry. If the school has a pre-pharm program, you would do that. Then you go to pharmacy school, which is a professional school (like medical school). After that you graduate with your PharmD, you get licensed, then you can be a full on pharmacist. Being a pharmacy technician doesn't require any of that since you're not providing prescription counseling or anything, you're really just grabbing prescriptions for people.

Can you become a pharmacist in the Air Force or Navy?

You can be trained as a Pharmacy assistant, but not an actual Pharmacist. Pharmacists (military and civilian) get their education through civilian colleges with a Pharmacy degree program. The trend for pharmacy education is that the bachelor's degree in pharmacy has been replaced by the Doctor of Pharmacy degree (Pharm.D.), a six-year program that includes at least two years of pre-pharmacy college courses.

So what you could do is this...see if you can get pharmacy tech as a job in the military. Then once your enlistment is up, you can use your education benefits to pay for college needed to become a pharmacist.

How can I become a pharmacist without going to school?

Absolutely, through illegal means becoming a street pharmacist aka drug dealer. Not recommended being a high risk career and drugs you deal with are highly illegal and don’t benefit the community but that’s the only way. If you want to live an honest life and benefit your community then go to school, work hard, and be a doctor of pharmacy that helps countless medical professionals and people of our community. It is a Very rewarding career.

How to become a registered pharmacist in US for international student? ?

There is no national pharmacy license. Each individual state registers pharmacists. So each state will have different rules. Do a search for "board of pharmacy (state)" and you should find them.

For California, for instance, their site is http://www.pharmacy.ca.gov/applicants/ap... and it looks like they have provisions for people with international credentials. Don' t know if people from some countries might have to take a test or bring additional documentation, but the web sites should tell you.

And, just because you are registered to practice pharmacy in California does not mean you can dispense drugs in a neighboring state, much less New York or Florida.

I am a foreign pharmacist who passed equivalence exam and looking for residency. Do I hold a chance for being a successful clinical pharmacist in USA?

If you have successfully applied to take the NABP exam, passed the TOEFL & are eligible for licensure in the US,   I would encourage you to seek out a residency.  My parent health system has had foreign pharmacy graduates in the residency program for over 5 years now.  They are proving as talented & capable as any graduate of a US pharmacy school.     I would recommend that you become a member of a professional association  such as AHSP, because they offer many resources for pharmacy residents.  I would also recommend participating in their residency match program at their mid-year meeting in December of each year.  Start cultivating as many pharmacy contacts in the US as you can.  I'm hesitant to recommend LinkedIn because it is a poor substitute for real-life acquaintances, but some people find it works.  I would seek any job in pharmacy in the US, even a pharmacy technician's job, because you can get a valuable sense of what the practice of pharmacy is like here (and you can get the people you work for to comment favorably on your application for residency.)   In short, I think your goal of a pharmacy residency & a career as a clinical pharmacist is a good one.  I wish you all the best.
