Been Sick For About 2-3 Wks. After 2 Rounds Of Antibiotics I

After 2 rounds of antibiotics I'm still sick?

About a month ago I went to the doctor and was diagnosed with a sinus infection. He prescribed Z Pack and Prednisone. I took both prescriptions faithfully and felt immediately better after the first dose. Literally 2 days after completing the Z Pack, I began to have a sore throat, swollen lymph nodes, green mucus, etc. I went back to the doctor and was diagnosed with bronchitis and sinus infection. I was prescribed a 10 day antibiotic which I also took faithfully. Well... Here I am 2 days after finishing the last round of antibiotics and my throat is sore, lymph nodes swollen, and green mucus. I feel perfectly well while on antibiotics. What in the world is going on? I rarely get sick, and I can't remember the last time I was placed on antibiotics before a month ago.

Is it ok to miss 2 doses of antibiotics?

No, it is not ok, it is bad.Forgetting two doses out of how many per day?  If only once a day, you miss two whole days, if thrice a day, 2/3 of a day no bacteria inhibiting or killing blood levels of the antibiotic is there, so no effect.  We know that stopping a course of antibiotics prematurely (let's say before 3 to 5 days) is bad, it could cause the bacteria to become resistant to that antibiotic.

I missed my antibiotics for 3 days (left in office and it was a long weekend), now I have 3 pills left, should I have it or don't bother?

As the other answers and comments said, you should contact your doctor. Here what I want to say is never do it again. Missing antibiotics for 3 days can lead to the following unpleasant results:Your previous efforts in fighting against bacteria all go in vain (because bacteria simply reproduce again during these three days). You are promoting super bacteria which can survive this (and similar) antibiotics: what didn’t kill them makes them stronger. Thus, if you have not recovered, you probably need to start over again. Of course, it is possible that you are indeed already cured before you stopped taking those antibiotics, in which case you are lucky. When using antibiotics, it is crucial to make sure that you use them continuously for the whole course. Sorry for being overly serious, but it is not only about you, it is about everyone: the drug-resistant bacteria, once appear through evolution, can propagate and infect other people, and it will become hard to beat them then.

What if strep throat doesn't go away after taking antibiotics?

Last year I had strep throat for almost 2 months. They had put me on 4 rounds of antibiotics. Each round getting stronger than the last. By the time it got to the last round of antibiotics the doctor told me. “I'm starting to think you might be a carrier of strep throat.” and explained to me that if the strep didn't go away this time she couldn't give me any more antibiotics and they would have to run some tests to determine if I was a carrier. She was also looking into the possibility of getting my tonsils removed. Apparently there is more risk for an adult to get their tonsils removed than a child.

When can my dog go around other dogs after getting Kennel Cough?

Has your dog completed her round of antibiotics? My pup currently has it as well and the vet said she can be around other dogs again 4-5 days after the cough has completely subsided. Your relatives could re-vaccinate their dog, but it needs to be done a couple weeks in advance. I think your only options are to take your dog to your vet's for boarding, get a pet-sitter or reschedule. You can try completely isolating your dog once you get where you're going, but that's not really fair to her.

Why do Americans call in sick even if they have a minor cold or headache? In most countries you go to work if you have a cold or a headache.

(not a medical professional) This is my opinionI once saw a sign on the wall in the emergency room: “A virus takes at least two weeks to run it’s course.”A person is generally contagious days before they start showing symptoms. When you go to work sick, you are potentially infecting everyone else you work with. Your germs are on the phones, keyboards, doorknobs, etc….If you work in an environment where you are caring for elderly or already sick people, you can potentially make everyone sicker. This is why flu shots are mandatory in most hospitals: you could potentially kill old or deathly sick people by infecting them with the flu. Then the whole floor gets sick, and everyone is calling in and you run short staffed, which is a hardship on everyone, so people go to work. Also, most people can’t afford to stay home for two weeks, so they go to work sick. Lastly, in a lot of places after you call in sick for 2–3 days, you have to be seen by a doctor, to come back to work, and a lot of people who may not be insured, can’t afford, or don’t want to pay for a doctor visit, so they go to work sick.

Symptoms are still present after taking antibiotics for 2 weeks, what should my friend do?

Antibiotics can only cure bacterial infection so if your friend suffers from a virus its perfectly understandable that the antibiotics didn't work. A viral infection has to be eliminated through the body itself but he can stock up on fresh garlic and bunches of it it can kill the virus. So chopped up garlic about 5 cloves taken thrice daily on a sand which or with food. Multivitamin supplementation will also boost the immunity along with the garlic to eliminate the virus much quicker. Also keep in mind every single time one takes a set of antibiotics you have to finish the whole set so as not stopping after symptoms have improved. That and secondly with every time you use antibiotics you must consume natural yoghurt such as Bulgarian or Greek as to replace the good bacteria to your gut. Antibiotics destroy both the bad and good guys and that alone can trigger much worse illnesses in future so remember those two tips.

I felt really sick today, 2 days after finishing z-pack for brochitis?

There has been an increasing incidence of bacterial resistance to Azithromycin (Z-pak), and I have seen several cases lately which failed to respond to it. I have been using fewer Z-paks in favor of other more effective antibiotics. I agree that you need to go back to your doctor though I would caution against allowing him/her to simply prescribe you another Z-pak. I have seen some physicians do this and it makes no sense whatsoever- if the first one didn't successfully treat the infection, then 12 more won't either. It could be viral, but most viral upper respiratory infections are fairly short lived. This isn't the appropriate venue to try and give you specific medical advice even though I am a physician, but I hope this helps somewhat.

I have a single swollen tonsil, bronchitis and a sinus infection, been sick for almost 2 months. please help?

I developed bronchitis about 2 months ago, which also turned into a sinus infection. Went to the doctor and got antibiotics. I felt better, but symptoms never went away. Now all of the sudden I have a very swollen tonsil, bit just one. Feels like a golfball in my throat. My neck is stiff and I have had a headache for a couple of days. I have been getting a Sharp pain above my right elbow. I feel dazed and a little dizzy, generally tired. Not sure how much is exhaustion, I have a two month old, and work two jobs and go to school. But read a little about lymphoma and worried myself.
I work in construction so I breath in construction debris on a regular basis, I smoked for 8 years (but quite some time ago). I did drugs for a few years when I was younger. All these factors have me a little more worried that is could be lymphoma. Anyone know anyone with lymphoma? I went to the er, I don't have insurance, they said it is most likely viral and sent me away, no help at all.
