Being A Teacher Private School Vs Public School

Private school VS public school?

The woman who told you that is probably the type that feel as if you do not do something the way she does, you are AGAINST her doing it that way.

It should not be a "vs.", it should be a what is best for our family/our child(ren). What is right for one family/child is not necessarily what is right for another. I know- we homeschool.

I think that you are being just as judgemental, though, to be fair. It may not be intentional, but know that not every private school is better than every public school. And, while less common there ARE incidents of violence and such at private schools so students who attend them are not exempt, just less likely to have to deal with that.

I get the "real world" comment quite often in regards to our homeschooling. My only response is that my children are living in the real world, not in a building learning about it, and they will be just fine. I do not find school to be reflective of the real world outside of school itself, anyway- nowhere else in life are you grouped with 29 or so other people born the same year you were and from roughly the same neighborhood and compared to each other as for how well you do this, that and the other and/or expected to learn/do the same things, in the same method, at the same rates.

We all need to make the decision that is right for us/our families and not be judgemental to others.

Private School vs. Public School?

Let me answer your question from a teacher's perceptive. I taught at a private school for 10 years and now I am on my seventh year at a public school.

Your relatives are probably jealous.

Because private schools have a screening admissions process they offer a higher level academic curriculum. This results in a better prepared student overall (including leadership and moral attributes). The focus is on academics not extra curricular activities like at public schools. The population (class size) is smaller so students received more one on one education. Most private schools have a higher than 95 percent graduation rate and high scoring on the SAT or ACT tests.

In the 10 ten years I was at the private school we had three fights. At my current public school we have two full time police officers and weely fights. At my private school all parents came to school on report card night. At my public school I'm lucky if parents answer the phone when I call.

So why did I leave private school? The pay is better at public schools in Texas.

Stay is private school. You are getting a better education there. It is money well spent!

Private School vs Public School?

I was wondering if I could get some opinions on public school vs private school. Hopefully form some people who have experienced both or had their kids in both. It is getting close to my own kids entering school and I want to know the pros and cons of each.

I did started a website discussion on it at http://www.verbalbattle.com/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=127 but even with the info presented there I still can't decide.

Appreciate any and all info you can share.

Private Christian School vs. Public School?

Your children are going to be exposed to beliefs and behaviors that you do not agree with no matter if they attend the private school or the public schools. Sooner or later they are going to have to learn to interact with people with differing beliefs and values and still hold fast to their own beliefs. If they do not learn this along the way in life, it could be a real shock for them when it comes all at once in college or a job setting.

And, it is true that private schools are often not able to offer many electives because of size restraints. (You might consider placing your children in private schools for the first few grades and then transitioning them to public before junior high and high school to lessen the impact of this problem.)

I believe that there are ups and downs for both school settings. One downside for private schools that is often overlooked is that the students with the rich parents that make large contributions can often do ANYTHING they want. Also, private school teachers are not required to have a teaching license, and in some states they are not even required to have a four year degree. (It's true, look it up.)

If your local public schools are good, I would spend the money on the kids in some other way and send them to the public schools.

I wish you and your family the best. I can tell you are a good parent because you are taking this decision very seriously.

What's it like to teach at a Montessori school versus a public school?

First off, the difference you are asking about is not quite correct. The idea of a public school deals more with how it is funded and how they qualify for that funding, not the type of education it is. The reason I say this is because it would be hard to answer in light of the public Montessori schools. If you are asking what is different between a Montessori school and a more traditional school, I would say almost everything. The teacher’s role in a Montessori school is to get the children working and interested, then step back and let the children be active. This is quite different from the teacher being active in front of a group of students.Best at things you could do is visit a school and observe. Then you will get a better feel for what it is like.

Teachers: Why the private school teachers get less paid as compared to government school teachers?

Government teachers have all the requisite qualifications and have cleared @Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) or @Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) and hold merit and hence get paid more than the @Private Teachers. There are now few private schools of high brands which are paying you high but job security is not there.Try to join school run by @Azim Premji Foundation , @Nita Ambani or some big brand. There if you are talented and hardworking you can earn a lot.If you feel you are one of the best then search a job in a school in metros and besides handling school just join a coaching Institute and for just an hour you can get 12k to 15k from there also. And you can easily make 50k to 1lakh but only if you are very talented, have good command on subject, good communications skills and have computer knowledge also.Government teacher can't take tuitions or run coaching institutions as it is illegal but private teachers can do so if their school management allows. Its like cherry on the cake. Your brand building happens because of your school and people look forward to you. Try to run your coaching Institute differently with uptodate ideas. But don't pressure your school students to join your Institute. That seems cheap and as a teacher u will never get respect. Rather try to make a policy that u will not teach those students who you are teaching at school. That's seems difficult but to become the best u should be different from others. Money should be earned in the right way. And always do remember teacher is above God.Guru govind doh khade, kaake lagoon paoun.Balihari guru, govind diyo bataya.( TEACHER AND GOD BOTH ARE STANDING AND THE STUDENT IS CONFUSED TO WHOM FEET TO BE TOUCHED FIRST GOD OR TEACHER. GOD TELLS TOUCH THE FEET OF THE TEACHER FIRST)Best wishes for your future ahead.
