Being Arrested At A Uk Airport

Can you be arrested while in transit at an airport if there is a warrant for your arrest in that country?

The United Kingdom uses the Advanced Passenger Information System (APIS). The airlines must report the passport data of their passengers to the UK government prior to the flight departure. You will be cordially welcomed by a UK police reception committee at Heathrow ..

I recommend not to transit through any European Union country..

Is it true that Canada's airport arrest torrent users?

I'm traveling to Canada next week, and I heard that if I have a USB or a hard disk
with movies downloaded using torrent I can have a problem/ get arrested in the airport for possessing illegal movies.

It is true? Please help asap!

What happens if you’re arrested in the airport?

It depends why you were arrested. In the US, if you are arrested in the airport for getting in a fistfight in the food court, it will be the same as if you were arrested for getting in a fistfight in a gas station. However, if you get arrested for having a pound of cocaine in your bags, then it’s a federal crime, where if you got pulled over and a cop found a pound of cocaine in your car, it would likely not be a federal crime.

Will I get stopped at the airport if I have a misdemeanor warrant?

No, you won’t.While nothing is 100%, this is about a close as you can get.No one at the airport is checking you for outstanding warrants. Not the airline ticket counter. Not TSA (whose primary role is to check you out personally and your baggage before you get on the plane) and certainly not the boarding agent who simply wants to swipe your boarding pass or mobile device and get you on your way, And, if you print your ticket and boarding pass from online, you have removed one of those stops on the way to your plane. There is a REMOTE chance that you might be stopped by the local police or a federal law enforcement agency while at the airport. If they run your identification and come up with a LOCAL (meaning that county) misdemeanor warrant they COULD conceivably arrest you and then send you to the local lockup until you go in front of a judge and/or have satisfied the warrant. However, if you have never been stopped at an airport by the local police, then chances are low that you will be.There is also a REMOTE chance that you could be stopped, found to have an outstanding warrant and then be held if they wanted to hold your for possible questioning. However, they can only hold you until they are certain that jurisdiction which issued the warrant is either going to retrieve you or is just going to blow it off. Since extraditions for misdemeanors are rare (there’s usually more serious felony charges that they suspect you of committing when they do) especially from more than a single county away, then you would likely be released that day or early the next. However, you would miss your flight.I know of at least four people who fly frequently who also have misdemeanor warrants (at the very least) in different states and they have yet to be either stopped or arrested. While it’s always better to clear up warrants of any kind, you are not going to be arrested simply by boarding or disembarking from a flight at an airport.

Do they check to see if you have any warrants at the airports when you fly?

UK - yes that is why there is police at passport control and you have just announced that you have a warrant for your arrest and your IP address will now be passed to your nearest police because this is a UK site and all questions, text and emails are read by our government for security reasons, Good Luck

If airports are international territory, how are people arrested for drug smuggling?

The arrest for drug smuggling does not happen until you attempt to pass through customs with the contraband. That act is literally the smuggling you talk about, trying to pass customs. Just walking around the international terminal with a brick of cocaine in your bag is not something you get arrested for.But “international territory” isn’t some law-free zone. It is only an exception when it comes to immigration and customs, where you can buy duty-free products and await the resolution of visas or other entry problems. Possession of a control substance is still going to be illegal if you are in that country, even if you are still in the international terminal. So would murder, cutting hair without a professional license, and breaking the employment laws of that location.

What happens if I am caught with weed at an airport?

I was with a friend who had a small bag of weed he says he didn’t realise was in his toiletries bag, about 20 grams in think. He didn’t seem concerned when he walked past sniffer dogs so maybe he didn’t know about it. The Dog walked up to him and just stood at his feet next to the bag and looked at him at which time the handler came up and asked if he could examine his bag, asked if he packed it etc etc.they took him aside and went through his bag, opened his toiletries bag and found his weed. His eyes opened like diner plates and they asked him if it was his and he said yes but he thought he lost it. They separated us and took him to a room and asked him some more questions but didn’t ask me much. He came out about 15 minutes later with a warning and was allowed on his flight with me.

How different an experience is it to be arrested in the UK to being arrested in the USA?

I have two experiences to compare. In the US my ex-husband was stopped. Pulled out of the car by his hood by 4 or 5 cops, his faced pressed against the pavement, and sat on. He was told not to move while they basically crushed him with all their weight, his hoodie was slightly ripped, his face scratched up. Was he a criminal? What did he do to deserve such a violent attack?See, about a month earlier we had gone to a pizza shop, and I made the stupid decision of turning the overhead car light on to count the money while the car was moving. It was my mother-in-law’s birthday and we decided to get subs and play cards.I wanted to make sure I had enough cash, so I turned the light on. In my state that is a fine. I had no idea, but nonetheless we were given a ticket. My ex-husband told the cop we just moved and gave him our new address, not the one on the license. The cop writes a ticket and goes on his way. My ex-husband calls up to pay the ticket, but there is no record of it. He goes downtown to pay it, and they say they can't find it… We forget about it.My ex-husband’s license got suspended because of a car light being left on while the vehicle was in motion. That's it, if it weren't his first offense they would be looking to give him 1 month in prison. They knocked him around as if he were a felon. Now in the UK, a woman and her boyfriend were fighting, the woman seemed distraught, and her boyfriend was physically violent. The fight carried on into the street, cops were called. Before the cops arrived, the boyfriend drove off, and an unlucky guy wearing a pair of jeans shorts and a blue hoodie turned the corner. After getting a description of the boyfriend wearing similar clothes, they ask politely if they could speak to him. In a non-threatening way, they ask him questions, and the guy has no clue what happened. The girlfriend comes out and says that's not him, they apologise and let him go. Meanwhile, the boyfriend drives around the corner. They allow him to park his car, get out, and speak with them civilly. The end result was they were told to go separate ways, and they told her that if she needed to seek a shelter they would assist her… He was told that if he had an anger problem they would assist him. That's it… No brute force, no arrogance, no condescending attitude, nothing. I've never seen anyone get arrested for much if at all.
