No, because Windows itself is free with the PC when it is bought.I suspect that most people are lured over to Linux because of some shortcoming they have encountered with Windows. That was certainly the case for me. I had two computers that had become close to unworkable with Windows, leading me to try Linux Ubuntu.After trying Linux, it became quite obvious to me that, for the average user, Linux is simply a superior choice. There are many reasons for this, but for me it is speed, stability, security, and much lower use of drive space and wireless data.There is also a somewhat intangible but very evident “snappiness” and cleanness to the whole Linux experience. It is simply not as cluttered and messy as Windows, which really appeals to me a lot personally. You have to try it to understand this though, as it is an experiential thing and not something that can easily be explained in words.And it is fun, but again you have to give it a go to really appreciate this.Earlier I mentioned “average” user (whatever this beast actually is), which is an important caveat. When I say average user I mean someone who browses the Internet, manages their emails, writes the occasional document or spreadsheet, and maybe does some lightweight media editing, etc. Linux is great for this sort of person and has no real drawbacks when compared with Windows (and plenty of advantages).If you do heavy duty media editing, are a big gamer, or indulge in other, more specialised computer tasks, Windows or Mac may be better choices, simply because more money and development goes into the apps used by the commercial operating systems, which, in certain cases, can make them superior to the open source software used by Linux.For all other users, Linux is a great choice. Having made the switch myself, I will not be going back.

I just wanted to share my viewsFirst of all I have not stuck to any one particular brand of Anti Virus. I have used Norton, McAfee. Kaspersky, and Avast. In addition I have used the MSE i.e., Microsoft Security Essentials which is free When MSE first appeared on scene, it was good and since then it has lost its sheen.Some years back, Kaspersky was the cheapest Anti Virus programme available and did its job well too. Norton, Avast, and McAfee all belong to the same league and perform almost in identical ways and all are equally good. However, in due course of time you get fed up with one and decide to shift to another one for reasons best known to you which you won't feel inclined to explain for others for whatever reasons.Most of these Anti Virus brands are available in different varieties and flavours with different price tags. I think they all essentially serve the same purpose according to my experience.My important suggestion is that an Anti Virus programme is an absolute must on your computer on other devices. You must also choose a paid Anti Virus rather than the free ones.(I don't bundle the MSE in the free ones as although it is free, it is for legally licenced Windows OS only).Never allow your computer or laptop to be used by another person. In today's world it is far better to obtain yourAnti Virus licence for 2-3 devices use as you can install it on your laptop , smartphone or any other device too.It is always better to compare the prices online and in stores before arriving at your purchase decision. These greatly vary because most of the time we are seeing highly inflated prices. Never buy cheap product key alone from online purchase as in one of my purchases it did not work out well as I had a 30 day trial of same brand but different variety already running on my laptop, I could not successfully switch over to the one I bought online.There is no specific Ant Virus for Windows 7.Happy Virus free days ahead.
