Belly Button Piercing Whats Going On

Is it okay to have a belly button piercing and go swimming?

Navel piercings take many months to heal (frequently 6–9 months, sometimes even longer)! The navel is an avascular area (poor blood supply) and is subject to quite a bit of trauma, so healing take a really long time. While a piercing is healing, it remains an open wound. Therefore, you should not expose it to pools, lakes, jacuzzis, oceans, or other bodies of water while you are healing. That would mean 6 months minimum!A waterproof bandage like Tegaderm or Nexcare Cleanseals might make it safe, if you feel you can get a really good seal over the area. But there are still risks if the bandage loosens while you’re submerged.Once fully healed, you can definitely go swimming without concern as such a piercing is no longer an opening into the body.

Is it okay to go swimming with a new belly button piercing?

I suppose you could, if you want to risk infection. Any new piercing must be fully healed before swimming in any body of water, chlorinated or not, and this includes hot tubs. Even in chlorinated water, there are plenty of bacteria floating around in the water which will eventually make it into your piercing. Trust me, you don't want to risk it. As always, consult your professional piercer and follow all their instructions and advice as they know best. Hoping your piercing heals quickly so you can get back in the water!

Belly button piercing, and sun?

I would try and not get anything near the piercing like sunscreen just to be safe but as long as you keep it clean you should be fine. Dont think the sun will hurt it. Got mine during the summer and went swimming and stuff about a week after getting it. But never put sun lotion on or around it...Just keep it clean...

Belly Button Piercing and then beach?

I'm going to get my bellybutton pierced tomorrow, and I'm going to the beach mid- June. Will it have healed then for the beach? :( I don't know what to do! & I'm getting it pierced tomorrow so please don't say wait until after vacation. Thank you!

Belly button piercing crusty and scabbing?

Its normal. It's caused by white blood cells trying to repair the damage to the surrounding tissue caused by the puncture. DO NOT PICK IT! Leave it there and continue following the aftercare instructions your piercer gave you. Do not touch the piercing unless you have washed your hands, and don't move the ring around unless you've washed the surrounding area. The last thing you want to do is move bacteria into the wound tract.

Some common signs of infection include leaking white or green puss (this is not the same as the white discharge from healing), red swollen skin that is warm to the touch around the piercing, and running a fever.

Blood-like pus coming out of belly button piercing?

Hi, I've had my belly button pierced for six months. I clean it often but not every day with anti bacterial soap and/or Saline solution as my piercer instructed me to. I have not taken my ring out yet, I have kept the same one I was pierced with.

It doesn't hurt but there's almost a blood-like looking substance coming out from the top hole. It's kind of clear but red at the same time but is not painful. Is this a regular process of healing or what?
