Benzoyl Peroxide Causing Redness Above Cheek Area

Does benzoyl peroxide remove acne scars?

Hi Janette, unfortunately I am unfamiliar with benzoyl peroxide for acne scars because I do not put any chemicals on my skin. The only thing I can tell you is to try exfoliating your skin with a gentle scrub that is not made out of shells or sand that can cause even more scarring, cuts and acne. I use this one Rice Bran Polisher. It is amazing and the more you exfoliate the more your skin becomes vibrant and in my case has helped with the scarring. I would also pair it with some high antioxidant supplements. I can share with you the ones I take. Just let me know and I'm happy to share. All the best to you!

I over treated my skin with benzoyl peroxide, is this a reaction or is it permanent damage?

I used 10% benzoyl peroxide all over my face for two days... I know, so idiotic. But I had no idea how harmful it could be, then. Soon enough, my cheeks had become incredibly itchy, and the texture of my skin on the cheek where I applied more of it looks almost leathery/bumpy. If I used any kind of facial product on it, it turns red for a while, but then goes away. I've used cortizone cream and that makes the itching less noticeable but it still hasn't gone away and it's been 3-5 days. Will the itching go away? How long will it take? I've been washing with gentle soap twice a day and moisturizing with cheap drugstore aloe vera gel+cetaphil (I combine them both, using less than a pea size of each.) Is the texture of my skin permanent or will this heal as well? I am very worried because it seems to have aged that area of my skin so badly!! It looks like my Mom's skin and I am scared. Please help me!!

Should I go back to using Benzoyl Peroxide or not?

It's been a while since I used BP. I stopped because I felt like it was drying my skin out too much and causing more deep zits. However, BP and I also had some good times where I felt like I was almost completely clear. I was thinking maybe if I ONLY use it as a spot treatment and not rub it on all over my face it wouldn't dry my face out a lot and cause those deep zits. Would this be true?

My face is much clearer than it was back in high school (it was terrible back then) but I still wake up almost every morning to new zits. And a few of these are deep under the skin and can be very red and painful. My way of treating them has been to refrain from picking at them as long as I possibly can and then dig those suckers out of there. I know this is a terrible thing to do but it's so hard to stop myself, especially when it involves those giant, red, painful under-the-skin ones.

I figured a good way to stop picking and maybe clear these bad boys up faster would be to get my hands on some neutrogena on-the-spot benzoyl peroxide cream 2.5% and just spot treat zits. What do you think?

As of right now, I have mild acne with the occasional really bad breakouts. I also have quite dry skin already, being as that is winter and all.

What should I dilute benzoyl peroxide with to treat minor acne?

Don't dilute it, just put less on. Though if you have it all over you're face put a little in same face lotion!!!!

Is there something for my acne besides benzoyl peroxide and salicylic acid?

I have Mild Acne and At first it seemed to be going away with Benzoyl peroxide but then i started to notice that it was drying up my cheeks and causing damage to my skin! salicylic acid does not do anything for me and I am about fed up! I need help! what can i use to help cure my acne?

I used Hydrogen Peroxide on my skin and now I have white spots on my face.?

I had some mild acne appear and some of them started to get a little infected so I put some hydrogen peroxide on them and Neosporin. I've done it three times in three days and after I did it today, I noticed giant white spots where I put the peroxide the day before. I guess it is bleaching my skin. Now I know it was a stupid idea to do that and won't do it again, but will the white spots go away fast?
