Bergen County Technical School Placement

BERGEN ACADEMIES PLACEMENT TEST?

Hi! Congrats on getting in! I just found out I got into AAST (science) too! What about you?
About the test, I know from people who go there that there is only a math test. However, if you choose the intermediate level for language you take a placement test for that too. For the math, it will probably vary a lot. However, as I'm pretty sure that they only require that you know Algebra 1 before attending the Academies, the test will probably have questions on:

1) Algebra 1, to judge whether or not you need to learn it over the summer.
2) Algebra 2
3) Geometry

There might be more difficult questions, but since not a lot of kids have taken up to Trig yet, they probably won't ask a lot of questions on it and even so, I don't think they expect too many students to have taken it.

I hope I helped!

How difficult is it to be accepted off the Bergen County Academies wait list?

I wouldn’t get your hopes up much. Admission varies depending on the town you live in, and the quality of applicants from that town + how much the town is willing to pay for you to attend BCA + the population of the town.An “above average” person from Hackensack has a higher chance of making it in than a “smart” person from Ridgewood.Race is also a big factor. If one of your competition from the town you’re applying from is back, or hispanic you minus one “seat” from the available number your town is allotted. They will take the black, or hispanic kid even if he’s just average….. if they see even the tiniest bit of potential in them. Also if you are asian (korean, indian, chinese etc) lower your chance by a bit too. They have too many so you won’t be a preference unless you really stand out.So given all of these variables + lack of actual focus on the applicant’s academic record … don’t get your hopes up if you were waitlisted.BCA is vastly over-rated. I don’t know about now, but the kids that got in from my town, and later graduated ended up in average public colleges, and today have average lives. The place really burns you out from what I heard.Accepted. That’s great. Rejected. Who gives a damn. Move on. Not the end of the world.

Bergen County Academies. . .?

How hard is it to get into Bergen County Academies ? I'm going to be going to a Open House in like a month & i so excited. I'm really scared but happy at the same time. What do they expect from you?

Let's say in 5th & 6th grade you never knew about this school & your grades weren't so good . . . but in the 7th & 8th grade your grades are outstanding ? Well that person is me. I never really thought about this school and 5th and 6th grade because i was a child and i wasn't thinking about high school but now im in 8th and i heard they average your 7th grade and the two marking periods of your 8th grade if im correct, if not something close to that. In seventh grade i got honor roll 3/4 times and in 8th grade i just started now im doing really good. So if there a chance ? I know they don't only base it on grades but are my chance average ?

Since the test is in January , my teachers are starting to tutor me in October. I want to be focus & ready. What if you don't know what your major is? Im also applying for Bergen Technical High school. Any tips ? For BTH applying Law and BCA im thinking Nursing but im not sure. Do you have to choose ? Thx for answer(s)

What should I use to prepare for a BCA (Bergen County Academies)?

There really isn’t much “preparation” needed. Honestly, as long as you come in determined to succeed you’ll be fine. One tip, though- make sure your summer essay is high-quality. Assuming the homework is still a “this I believe” speech, and that they haven’t changed anything… you’ll spend the first few weeks devoted to that essay, and you’ll eventually present it to the class. A good essay means starting the year off on a good note.On that subject, read those short stories (again assuming nothing changed) and make sure you comprehend them, because you’ll be analyzing and eventually writing your first essay on them.In the end, though, if you can get into BCA I know you’ll be fine!

When and How do I prepare for Bergen county academy, NJ (BCA) entrance test?

When? As early as possible. They test many concepts. The questions are not particularly hard, but they are far reaching. Look into a tutor who says they are able to train you. I reccommend masterklass or honors review, because they have special classes for bca and know what they are probably going to test you on. They charge a lot, but this is for the NEXT 4 YEARS OF YOUR LIFE. A thousand in exchange for a nationally ranked education isnt unreasonable. If you have a year, start right now. If you have 6 months, start right now. If you have 1 month start right now. It is very important to start early, and to practice consistently(i.e daily or every other day). Also, apply to all of the academies. I regret only applying to bca, and not the other academies around it. A while after I applied, my brother applied and got into the englewood one, and we had very similar grades. It may not be enjoyable filling out forms and essays for all schools, but for the sake of everyone who has messed up in a way similar to me, please do. You wont regret taking your time on this. You will regret it if you don’ti hope you do well. If you have any specific questions, please dont hesitate to ask.

How am I supposed to get ready for the Bergen County Academies entrance test?

Answer below courtesy of a current instructor at BCA:It’s hard to “get ready” for the entrance test. BCA is looking for students who have the interest, aptitude, and ability to benefit from attending BCA. If you are that student you should apply, but you don’t become that student by preparing or taking a course. There are some sample math questions at: BCA Application InformationThat was the instructor’s reply, but here is mine. I would encourage you to master SAT preparation, as I think this will help your general scholastic future. To become really good at math, I would also encourage you to work through a math competition book called “The Art of Problem Solving”, which is actually used by BCA’s math team. Or at least it was used by them when I attended.
