i submitted an application and then i was called for an interview i went to the interview and it all seemed to go well and she said i would be called for another inter view and its been 2 days no call and i went to my online account and the hr status says no longer under consideration will i still get a call or what should i do??????????????????????????????????????...
Best Buy Orientation Question???
I went through orientation not too long ago.... they go through all their policies and benefits... they make you watch stupid best buy videos... they ask if you have any questions... they go through the selling process and how to treat customers as well as the different types of customers you will get... the go over their warranties ( Black tie protection) and teach you a little bit about Geek squad... takes about a month to get your blue shirt... I believe that the portable electronics are the GPS systems... Ipods....movies.... games.... MP3 players... all that kind of stuff... It could be different from store to store though.. so I'm not sure... If ya have any more questions just add details to this question... I know when I came on here to ask about best buy and the hiring process no one ever answered my question. edit: Vincent, they have Wireless specialists that deal with the cell phones. You have to go to a special training for them... but everything else you listed sounds about right... there is no big test at the end... you will have to take "certifications" on one of their computers during down time in the store... all you do is read about a product and take a short multiple choice quiz at the end.... you can take the quiz as many times as you want to get a "passing grade" oh, and I saw your other question regarding their discount... it's cost plus 5%... on non-bestbuy branded items it ususally doesn't take off a whole lot... on a game it would probably only take off about 5 bucks...however...dealers do sometimes have extended deals and discounts for best buy employees... like on a 32 inch lcd tv with the vendor's extended discount the price of the tv would only be about $400 bucks... quite a deal if you ask me...

The description is restocking shelves, assisting customers, etc. I am currently stuck on the following question: "Please comment on how your prior education and experiences qualify you for the type of employment you are seeking. Detail any past responsibilities and achievements. *Note any special coursework, honors, activities, special projects, military training or any other data that will assist us in considering your application for employment" I know some may be good customer service, attendance, and loyalty, but what are other good qualifications for the position?
What's Best Buy orientation like?
I just got hired also and my orientation is this Saturday at 7am, maybe I'm going to work at the same place as you. Well if you have ever had a job before or worked in retail before you should know orientation is just where they explain to you what you will be doing and you will watch videos about Best Buy and what they do as a company. Orientation is pretty boring actually and it usually lasts about 4 hours but you get paid for it so that's a good thing. Also you will meet your fellow new hires as well and probably talk to them while your watching the boring videos and answering the standard questions that retail always asks and you might have to answer questions about the video. Well the lady that called me asked me what size shirt I would need so I think she is ordering the shirts right now but you might not get it for a couple of weeks. From what I heard the employee discount is cost plus 5% off everything at Best Buy. It's not that good, my discount when I was at Fred Meyer was 10% and it basically covered the tax off everything I bought so it was pretty cool. Also I had to buy a white polo shirt because the lady told me I have to wear khaki pants and either a white button up or a white polo for orientation. I thought it was a little weird because I was never told what to wear for orientation and this is the first orientation I've had off store hours because it's at 7am but then again this is the first job where I had 3 interviews just to get hired at a retail store. It depends on whether they have more appointments after you. You're there at the beginning of the day; it's not like they can push everyone else back an hour or two to accommodate you. You'll have a much better chance if you plan to drop your car off for the day, instead of waiting for it. Then they can fit you in later in the day, or work on it between other appointments. It depends on the car, but usually I'd plan on more time for an in-dash mobile video system than a typical speaker installation. In some cars, it might take 2-3 hours. Also, if you're hoping they'll install it so that you can watch movies while you're driving, there's a very good chance that they'll refuse to bypass the safety feature that requires the parking brake to be set to see the movie.
What's the dress code for a Best Buy employee, regarding hair color?
I want to dye my hair, and I don't have work for four days and I really want to dye my hair for a New Year's party, but I don't know Best Buy's policy on dyed hair (I work there). Does anyone know? I read the employee handbook, and it just says to look professional and have good taste...but then it says it has more details on the toolkit. I don't have access to the toolkit until after the party, so does anyone know what the limits are on hair color? (I want to dye my hair a really dark red, btw)
