Best Choice For Engine Swap Of A Honda Civic Lx 1995

1998 Honda Civic EX Engine Swap...?

I am going to guess that you have the 1.6 L D16Y8 if you are talking about doing a swap.

I would go for the Si engine for that year which is the B16A2 which should drop right in. And since the D16Y8 is VTEC, the wiring should not be too much trouble.

A H series, or K series may put out more power/torque, but the amount of time for the swap and money involved is going to be a lot more than if you go the route of the B series, not to mention the B series is highly modifiable. Just depends on how much coin you are willing to drop above and beyond the initial install

Can i put a VTEC engine in a 2000 Honda civic lx?

http://www.hmotorsonline.com

this site helped me out a lot!

I would recommend trying to find a B18C1. Its the GSR motor.
It does have VTEC and has a reasonably high displacement and great compression.

But if you wanted a smaller engine try getting your hands on a B16B. They're only available in cars in japan, or by motor importers such as the website above. B16A2 would also be good for your car, but not as good as any of the above (although by far an improvement on what you have).

I take it you understand what the codes mean? If not:

eg. B16A2

B-series
1.6L
A model
2nd generation.

use wikipedia also.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Honda_B_engine

wikipedia has A LOT of information on all the honda motors from A-series through to H-series(?).

with whatever swap you do. you will need to get it professionally done, because otherwise you void the warranty of the engine. and you will GREATLY reduce the value of the car.

Hope this helped. Good luck champ.

What is the best honda vtec engine swap for 1994 accord?

i have a 94 accord with the F22B1 vtec with 145 bhp and 147ft-lb but i want something more it the 200-250hp range i know if i put a low boost turbo (around 8lbs) i can run the motor pretty much stock and get the numbers but for some reason F-series turbo kits are like $1500 were b-series turbo kits are only $300 so any ideas i need something that will pretty much be a direct swap were i can keep the stock engine mounts i have and would keep the same wiring harness etc i know with changing engines i would obviously need to change injectors and the computer (preferably with a computer that will have the same plug set up im not good at wiring)
thanks let me know what you can think of.
(or if you have a link to where i can get an f series turbo kit complete kit with turbo for under $600 then post the link thanks)

Looking to swap motor into my 1996 Honda Civic EX?

You should find a local junkyard & get an engine, that will be the cheapest way. The B18B1 will probably be your best bet (for more power anyways). It comes from an Acura Integra, not a Civic. But expect to spend $2,000-2,500 for everything you need. It's almost impossible to do a swap for less than that, unless you know someone who will give you a really good deal. But, anything '01 or newer will be pointless to put in, or out of your price range. The best '01-'05 Civic engines are K-series and would cost an arm and a leg to put in. And the next step down would be an engine that has the same power as your stock one; yet still cost more and have some wiring changes. Honestly you should just find another D16Y8 block and swap it in. It should only be a few hundred $, because you have everything for it already.

But the F-series (like the ones stated by the poster above) are going to be way more expensive than even a B18C1 (GS-R) engine. With them, you'd need to buy a mount kit, do quite a bit of wiring, & cutting of the body. The F/H-series are not as cheap as they seem, with all the hidden costs to get thim into a Civic.

What is the difference between the honda civic hatchback CX and DX?

The main differences are CX hatchbacks do not have power steering or power anything. The DX came with power steering standard but only if it was equipped with an auto. transmission. Neither CX or DX came with power windows or locks. I also think CX hatchback came on steelies where as the DX came with hubcaps.

What type of oil does a 1992 honda civic lx 1.5 non vtec use?

According to Honda, a 5W-30 oil is a MUCH better choice for better lubrication at startup, and in colder weather conditions. It will also give you much better gas mileage if your primary use of the car is for trips under 20 minutes.

The only exception is if the engine is not in good shape and burns/uses oil. In that case, the thicker 10W-30 may somewhat decrease oil burning, but of course your MPG will suffer.

1996 honda civic EX coupe does it have a vtec motor?
