Best Way To Transfer 120 Gigs Of Data From Pc To Mac

What is the easiest way to transfer big files between two laptops?

How large are these files?10 gigabytes or less: Wifi works fine for these files. USB is another good way. Note that Ethernet is fine, as well.10 to 30 gigabytes : USB drive would be the best way. You can still use wifi, but it’s slow. Note that Ethernet is fine, too.30 to 100 gigabytes: Use a USB drive if you have a big enough spare one, or Ethernet if possible. Otherwise, external drive. You can STILL use wifi, but you’ll have an hour to kill. You can also use USB, but it’ll be multiple trips. If you can cut the file into pieces.100 gigabytes or more: You’ll need an external hard drive, or Ethernet if possible, but you’ll have a few hours to kill. You can STILL use wifi, but maybe do it before you go to bed, and you’ll need to have them both plugged in.

How many gb on Mac is good?

I want a Mac which is 120 gb and was wondering if that was enough. It is the first version of the MacBook. I will do school work, email, web browsing, and video editing.

Please help me to understand the memory, hard drive, etc. options on computers & what's best?

this is basic memory management

for now there are only 3 type of memory

1. cache : it is fastest, but most costly (like you mentioned 3MB shared)

2. RAM : it is slower than cache but it is cheaper somewhere around ratio of 1:(3 to 5)
here you have mentioned 512MB DDR SDRAM, 2GB memory; both are same except size.
256MB GDDR3 is also a RAM, but it is dedicated to graphics generation purpose only.

3. Magnetic Disk : it is the slowest but also the cheapest memory present. speed ratio with RAM is arround 1:10
like you said 120 GB SATA hard drive is an example

128GB solid state drive is a newly designed technology were the technology to manufacture is similar to RAM but speed is near to Magnetic Disk. So it can be used in place of hard Disk. and its advantage over Hard disk is that solid state drives don't have any moving mechanical part inside.

THIS WHOLE SYSTEM IS DESIGNED TO OBTAIN MAXIMUM SPEED WITH EASE OF ECONOMY. as designers can design a whole system with a cache or hard disk but it wont be efficient in terms of economy or speed respectively

:)

What is the best way to send or share large (60 GB) video files?

FTP is the most mature and popular way of transferring very large files. It can be used for transferring large files of any size.I am not sure why you consider S3, Azure or Google Cloud Storage in this case. These services are cloud storage infrastructure service (i.e. an IaaS service). They are designed to store your data, but not for transferring data; you need to transfer data using their APIs. Those APIs are not hard, but it is very hard to create an efficient file transferring program like FileZilla. Even if you develop such a program, you still need to create a user management and access control systemFileZilla is free. It is extremely reliable. It supports multi-threaded downloading / uploading, and it supports automatic resuming. By default, FileZilla uses FTP over SSL, which is as secure as HTTPS.You also need an FTP server, which you can setup yourself if you are tech savvy. However, it is easier to use an FTP hosting service. The cost is usually lower and you will have much more bandwidth.DriveHQ is one of the largest FTP server hosting service providers. You just need to sign up an account on DriveHQ.com website, and you immediately will have access to a virtual FTP server. You can create sub-accounts of different user roles; create folders and share them to different users with various permissions.Cost-wise, even if you have developed your own “FileZilla” for S3 and your own user management / access control system, S3 is still more expensive. The tricky part is S3 has a total of 6 pricing components: Storage pricing; Request pricing; Storage Management Pricing; Data transferring pricing; Transfer Acceleration Pricing; Cross-Region Replication Pricing. While the Storage Pricing is misleadingly low, you will be charged for using the storage. The Data Transferring Pricing alone is about 4 times more expensive than the Storage Pricing.

Does RAM increase internet speed?

Alright, RAM (Memory) doesn't increase you internet speed. That is with your Provider.

GHz is how fast you computer will be at playing games and some programs will load quicker (not online games) This can be improved by buying a Graphics card/Sound card etc.

Memory (RAM) is also a thing to do with speed. It allows you to do many things at once. 4gb is pretty High.

120gb/500gb is your HDD (Hard Drive). THats how many movies, music photos, games and documents you can have on your computer.

That computer would be good for playing games, watching movies etc.

"Internet is you Service Provider" Ring them up and ask them about your speed.

Hope this helps
