Best Wok Out For Better Posture

What is the Best way to improve your posture?

The natural way to improve posture without having to think about it is to strengthen your abdominal and lower back (erector spinae) muscles. Strong abdominals and lower back muscles will naturally improve posture. They are our main antigravity muscles that keep us standing or sitting upright. If these muscles are strong, they will naturally improve your posture. You will not have to remind yourself to check it.

Best of luck and good health.

Does BetterBack, a product in Kickstarter, help with better posture?

No support is going to fix your problem. The only reasons that I recommend supports like this to anyone is as a temporary solution for allowing movement after an injury, or if you have permanent damage that requires additional stabilization (they may also be used if you must be in a particular position for a prolonged period of time). If you are trying to improve your posture with a device then you are going about it all wrong. The only way to improve your spinal health and posture is to first get things in their proper position and then get/keep them moving properly. If you're practicing for a 5K run you don't just run 5K you run much farther multiple times per week to make sure that your muscles are able to handle the 5K at their best. Posture is similar you don't just need to practice sitting/standing up straight, you need to work out the postural muscles regularly in positions that exaggerate the position that you want so that they are ready for the event when the time comes. Here are some great exercises, but there are many more. Help for Weak PostureBeyond strengthening the muscles you also need to overcome the Creep Effect. That is when you've been bent over picking weeds for 45 minutes and you try to stand up but realize that your body has assumed the bent forward position as a new normal and changing from that back to standing up straight is difficult and may be painful. That's why you need continual motion. Your body was designed to move and runs into problems with static prolonged positions. You should never stay in a static position such as sitting or standing for more than 30 min. Always give your body a chance to get up and move around for a few minutes every half hour or so.To summarize a brace like the Better Back can help you if you are injured or going to have to sit for a long time without support, but it should not replace exercise and regularly changing your position. These are how you will really improve the function and posture of your back.

How can I get good posture?

People are saying its as easy as "JUST THINK IT AND YOULL START DOING IT", if it were that easy then you wouldn't be asking this right now. Another factor to consider is that you probably aren't too aware of your muscles that make up your posture. To answer this you have to understand what makes up your posture, that is....your spinal erector muscles, more commonly known as your lower back.

What are some things you can do to improve your posture? You can start by doing simple prone bridge and holding it for 30 seconds or as long as possible for 3-5 sets, the carryover strength from that to posture is amazing. If your not sure what a prone bridge looks like heres one i found on google images:

Yoga is also a really great way to strengthen your core and lower back, i recommend going for a really intense power yoga class which really works all aspects of your core, thus enabling you to have better posture.

Can having a good posture make you taller?

well its all true but its more simple then you think you are taller when you stand up straight cause because when hunched your heads and neck is sideways and body hunched while standing straight your straight so are taller its like bending something its no longer tall if you bend it all the way then when it was straight

and for the bed thing its cause gravity when you stand straight gravity pulls you down and your spine contracts and when sleep the disks seperate giving taller this is same with hanging on a bar seperates disks which is good cause less irrrition of back and of the issue with old people if they hunch there back muscles dont get streatched out so they get tighter and tigher and then you got yourself a hunch back

Is surgery needed to correct bad posture?

No. Im a Physical Therapy major and I can tell you the most important thing you can do is to sit up straight and strengthen your abdominal muscles because they more then any other muscles support your spine. Also remember to put your shoulders back, it looks and feels weird to you but that is proper body position and it is in that position that the body functions best

How to get good posture for figure skating?

There are many ways to improve your posture for figure skating and for yourself. Good posture helps keep muscles strong and eases joint pain. Plus, people have more respect for others who sit/stand straight and take pride in their posture and body language.

Exercise/dance: ballet, yoga, pilates, step dancing
Cross-training: equestrian, gymnastics, marching band, cheerleading
Other: Etiquette, Cotillion, modeling, and piano/instrument lessons

A few tips to get you started:
. Put a small beanie baby on your head and walk (or skate) without letting it fall.
. Sit in your dinner chair with your back straight. Don't let your back touch the chair back for the meal.
. Walt with a book balanced on your head.
. Stand very tall and straight when waiting on lines or standing at a church service or other semi-formal affair

Improving your upper-body and core strength is vital to having good posture. It also makes skating easier because you have more body control. Some exercises include: sit ups, crunches, v-ups, plank, light weight workouts (1l. bottles filled with water are great - add more water as you get stronger.)

Good luck - posture is really very important in figure skating. Smart of you to recognize it.
