Which of these two names do you like better for a girl?
My brother is having a baby girl in a few weeks, and they can't decide what to name her. They're deciding between "Sumaiya" and "Suraiya." Both of them are pretty similar. Sumaiya (pronounced like SOO-MAY-A) means pure, grace, exalted in Arabic, I think. And Suraiya (pronounced SOO-RAY-A) means stars or constellations in the night sky. I think its because they both sound so similar that its making it hard to pick one. I guess based on both meaning and the way the sound (but more the way they sound), which one do you think is better? Thanks!

Which of these two logos is better and why?
Agree for the most part with Asa Sherrill on this one. Too much going on in both cases. Your keyword here is going to be, "simplify."Before we even get to the letter forms:The laurels are awkward and constricting. If they aren't part of your client's ask, or if they aren't completely necessary, I'd get rid of them. Both designs are immensely improved simply by removing the laurels. If they are necessary, you need to rework the letter forms so they fit more comfortably in the circular space within the laurel.The colors do not compliment one another. Black, purple/maroon and green, all pretty dark...they're just fighting each other rather than enhancing one another. Try working just in black and white, at least at first, and only add color where you think it enhances the design.Now the letters:Again, we need to focus on simplification and harmony. If the animal figures are significant to the brand, I would recommend giving them a bit more reverential treatment. Whether they are or not, they look like they've just been picked out of a kitschy, gimmick typeface. Draw them by hand, preferably, and in such a way that they form a cohesive composition when they stand together. As for number 2, that Rosewood typeface is a very recognizable one that screams, "MS Word," pretty loudly. I do like how you've pushed them together to make a cohesive form, though, so play off that idea, maybe with a simpler, cleaner typeface. Again, if you want to do something embellished (looking at those interior decorative elements in the Rosewood type), it's best to do that yourself by hand or in Illustrator rather than letting a font do the design for you.Sorry for the harsh criticism. Hope it helps to get these concepts developed into something great! The instincts here are good, but there needs to be some more diligence, neatness and control.

Absolutely Kameryn .. not only for the spelling but for the fact that you can be guaranteed that your angel will be graduating with at least 5 Taylor's (by the way whose parents thought that Taylor was "original" or "unique". Not only is Kamerym truly unique but the spelling alone warrents people stop and take notice. And may you and your daughter share more laughter than tears.
Halle vs. Hadley - which girl name do you like better?
Halle or Hadley? Can't decide between the two. Middle name will be Josephine. :) Pretty set on one of these two, but open to other first name ideas that flow well with Josephine... I do like the idea of "-Jo" ONLY as a playful nickname. (Ex- Halle Jo, Hadley Jo, etc.). But baby girl will primarily go by her first name. Thanks for your help!
