Black Knee Length Dress With Platform Pumps

Is it okay to wear a black dress to prom?

I liked a silver one that I saw, although I would like it better for formal wear if it were closer to knee length, say with another ruffle on the bottom. Ask around to find out the length of other girls' dresses. If they're all wearing floor length dresses, you might feel out of place. Anyway, it's not so much the occasion that makes black inappropriate as the season, namely that it's going to be spring & black looks a little wintry. Gray or silver with silver or gray shoes would be better in spring. The blue dress that I saw looked a little too dark & too bright, too.

The other thing is that all the colors you've listed are cool colors, which go with silver, gray, or black shoes & silver or rhinestone jewelry & maybe even silver gloves. Gold shoes go best with warm colors like gold, peach, green & gold brocade with gold jewelry. Pearls go with either warm or cool colors depending on the color of the clasp.

A color analysis would be a good investment for wardrobe & makeup planning for the rest of your life. Read about it on the Internet, watch some of the You Tube videos of color analysis, & get the Color Me Beautiful book either from the library or online purchase. Then if you're interested, look in the yellow pages of your phone book for a someone who does color analysis. Mine was in a group taught by a company called Beauty for All Seasons. I later had a brief confirmation that my coloring was "autumn" at a book signing for the other major company, Color Me Beautiful. That was in the 1980's, & I'm still happy with the ease it gives to shopping. Sounds like you have a good idea of your right colors, but you could have it confirmed if you wanted.

What is whorish dress?

Things that are too tight, too short, boobs falling out, @ss hanging out, those big ugly platform shoes that made a comeback, thongs showing with low rise pants... you know, stuff like that.

I also can't stand when women with big boobs wear big patterns, light colors or show too much cleavage. Doodlebug had a question up with a link, and although this woman was covered, she looked awful with that white top.

I don't know that it's whorish, to me it just shows poor taste.

EDIT - Shivs, those bible thumpers! C'mon babe, they have no life in their section because their women are boring and they came here to bust our chops! Please! I got 4 td and I don't know if it's because of my dress or because I called them children of the corn.

What is the work dress code at Plato's Closet?

I've never been there but I do shop at Clothes Mentor which is basically the same kind of place. Actually, all the girls in there are dressed up nicely. No jeans, leggings or skinny pants. They are always wearing either knee-length skirts or dresses or nice tops with long dress pants. They all wear heels, either platform pumps or dressy heeled sandals. Usually something with a tall heel and trendy.

Which dress should I wear to homecoming?

Okay, let's get started!

Dress 1:

Starting from the top, the lace detail is absolutely stunning and gives it a vintage feel. The cap sleeves definitely gives it a more modest look to help balance out the sexy vibe the dress gives off. The back is breath taking with the single clasp and the invisible zipper.

It's fully lined and that adds great detail to the dress, the gather also adds to it. The material is stretchy and you'll be able to move freely in this outfit. I'm concerned about the length, but it might just be the picture. I wouldn't get anything more then 1 to 1 1/2 inches above the knee. Not for the sake of remaining modest, but for fear that the dress might ride up while dancing.

It's simple, but the detail definitely helps it to stand out. I've noticed that a lot of people pick this dress, but I think it's really just that lace that's really eye-catchoutfitd the model really owns it.

Anyway, I'd pair some simple black pumps. For fear of making this outfit look slutty, I'd avoid any platform styles. I'm also going to throw in ankle heels, maybe even an ankle boot style. It's a little vintage, which goes with the lacy style of the dress.

Dress 2:

I really do love this dress. The style is very elegant and mature, but still very sexy. The overlaying straps are very chic, the gathered style, like the first dress, adds great detail. The length is great and I think it looks very modern. However, this outfit is definitely for someone with a little height. The style really emphasizes the torso and thigh area. While the first dress emphasises the legs. Strapped heels, anything 2 inches to four, would look amazing.

I give the first dress a 3 out of 5.
It's cute, the vintage style is definitely interesting and that lace is breath-taking. It does make the middle region look a little stout, but I don't think it's that noticeable. The bodice is beautiful, the length is decent, and I think it's a wonderful dress. I think "party girl" when I see it.

I give the second dress a 4 out of 5.
The dress is elegant, the detail is remarkable, it's very mature and very sexy. The material is stretchy, but I don't think you'll have a problem with the dress riding up because the length is a bit longer. It's very modern, very chic, and very couture. I think "night club" when I see it.

Well the final decision is up to you. I hope I helped!
