Blak Screen After Login

Lenovo G505s black screen after login?

I have a Lenovo G505s AMD A10 laptop that hasn't been working for awhile now. It boots up normally and goes to the login screen. Once I login, however, I can see nothing but the cursor. The screen is all black. I can bring up the task manager (ctrl+alt+del). I was able to go to file and run a new task, which brought up the cmd prompt. I entered rstrui.exe and it did bring up windows recovery, which is what I'm doing now. I did it once before and it didn't work, but I'm trying it at a later date now. It's a Windows 7.

I think it may of started this after I installed windows updates, I'm not entirely sure. I'm recovering it before the update so I'll see if it works. Until then, has anyone ever experienced a problem like this? It's a very good laptop and I took great care of it. Had it for about 2 years now and this is the only problem I've come across.

If someone has anymore troubleshooting ideas that may work, please let me know. It'll be much appreciated. I'll choose the best answer. Thanks.

How can I fix a blank screen after login on Ubuntu 14.04 LTS after I installed VirtualBox and ran a system update?

You should try reinstalling VirtualBox tools inside the Ubuntu VM. In case your 3D hardware acceleration is also broken, you may try doing this: Can not enable 3D acceleration on Ubuntu 14.04 inside VirtualBox

Why do I get a 1 - 2 minute long black screen before the login screen on Windows 8.1?

It'll be good if you understand the boot process from the below link http://qr.ae/7KNLSO Once you read it, you'll understand that the appearance of the login screen is part of a Stage 2 boot process. So, during this process Windows is starting lots of processes one by one (like Explorer.exe, volume control, display related processes, antivirus etc.). So, if you have too much processes to start during this time , it is possible that your winlogon.exe process (the process responsible for showing you the login screen, this is one of the processes that starts as a part of boot up) lags.  So, it is better you disable unnecessary startup processes by going to Task Manager > Startup menu.

I have a black screen in Windows 10 after login page. This is the second time it happens. What do I do? How can I prevent it?

If you have HDD then it’s simple: Its performance isn’t nearly good enough to avoid that.Try Ctrl-Shift-Esc to launch a task manager. In there you can find File->Run… And in the Run dialog box you can type explorer.exe

Windows 8 screen turns black after login wtf?

Like the title says, I need some help here.

I login to my computer and then the screen goes black- the only thing u can see is the cruser arrow.

I reported this to windows technical support and they basically told me they ain't gonna try to help me jus cuz my warranty supposivly ran out (ive only had it for 9 months) and that I'm on my own here.

I'm so mad that I'm ready to smash my laptop with a metal bat.

What can I do? I've never been this mad over a machine in my life.

Someone please help me, if this dosent get fixed then I'll lose so many memories and projects I'm working on.

But be careful, unhelpful info (etc. "call them again", "idk") will be reported, I don't care right now- I need real help and by typing in complete crap it jus wasting both of our time.

But somebody out there please help me! I'll give 10 points to the most helpful answer I promise.

Windows 7 no logo, no login screen, black screen with single coloured pixel line on top of monitor?Won't Boot.?

I was compiling a project yesterday when my computer froze so I hit the reboot button. Upon restart I get the the initial boot screen with the enter setup options and the screen that lets me choose which OS to boot through (I have XP, ubuntu and windows 7 installed). The XP and Ubuntu load find however after selecting the windows 7 option I get a black screen with just a line of coloured pixels at the top (sometimes changing colour). There is no mouse cursor, no windows logo loading screen appears and I dont get a log in screen.

I don't believe its a hardware problem since XP and Ubuntu load fine, I believe a windows 7 boot file has corrupted.

In addition starting in safe mode freezes at ClassPNP.sys.

Last Known Good Config and Start Normally lead to the same black screen result mentioned above.

Windows 7 black screen on startup?

>Disconnect the HDMI cable and see if that is the cause. If so, the problem is further up stream, probably in your HDMI connection to your TV. That would probably lead to a problem with the video card (I would think).
