Blue Screen Of Death On Start Up

Volsnap.sys Blue Screen of Death on start-up..?

First off my specs are ..
32 bit Windows 7 ultimate.
Windows vista home premium was originally installed.
I bought windows 7 at Full retail
3 GB RAM
250 GB HHD
AMD Dual Core Processor.

My laptop is around 2 years old now.
20 months since I installed Windows 7.

Now to the issue..4 days ago I decided to update my ipod, which involved updating Itunes. So I did perfectly fine, and it said to restart my system, which I did. When getting to the Windows 7 splash screen, it freezes for half a second, then followed up by a BSOD. I cannot get into safe mode as it results in a BSOD aswell. I can't get into anything, and do not have restore points. I cannot get at ANYTHING.

So i've figured that it's my Hard Drive that fails to boot. and i've tried re-arranging my boot order in BIOS. To no avail. My BSOD info is as followed.. :

0x0000007E (0x0000005) , (0x8add8a7e) , (0x8E589A90) , (0x8E589670)

Volsnap.sys - Address 8ADD8A7E , Base At 8ADA3000 , Datestamp 4A5BBF2D.

Since then i've lost my ipod. So I have nothing but my old, old desktop to surf on. So if anybody can help me, that would be great.

ALSO ; My current computer i'm using is Windows XP, so transferring volsnap.sys from this computer to the other one is out of the question. I also have no recovery disks , or original disks for windows 7.

I CAN get at CMD, but the options for me to enter are limited, as I get at it from the Windows Recovery Error program (which says it cannot manually solve the problem).

So yeah, if ANYONE can help. I'd be greatly appreciated.

What should I not do when I see the blue screen of death?

At this point I would not turn off the computer. I would reboot the machine and look for error messages and if the hard drive is working properly, If I go back in and find a blue screen. My first guess be Hard drive issue. And that part of the operating system is missing. Then i would turn off the computer , wait 5 minutes turn it back on. The computer not being turned off properly should do a check of the system. And go back in. Usually that fixes the machine. If not then you have choices. Go into dos and try to back up as many folders -pictures- movies- of what you wish to keep. Then do a Startup diagnostic that comes with windows. or can format reinstall windows to manufacturer defaults. Or get a new hard drive. Load the new hard drive format put windows on it then try to access the bad hard drive. Blue screens are a matter of trial and error. But really at a point of a blue screen,it is generally best to do the options, before you turn off the machine.

How to fix Microsoft Blue Screen of Death?

Sometimes depending on how far it will boot and what version of windows it is. You can hit the F8 key as it is first starting up and get into safe mode. From there you can get into "My Computer" and right click on the "c" select the tools tab and do a defrag and schedule a disk check - check both boxes in disk check - one says "check for errors" the other one say "attempt to repair" This will fix it about 60% of the time!!! Good Luck!!!!
